8: Her Name Is Carra

Carra knew that this man could kill himself if he continued knocking his head on the hard floor. She didn't want Lancelot's life, but just wanted to take the opportunity to establish her prestige in the house of Copperstone. She wanted to let the whole castle know that she was the eldest daughter of the family. She would not be easily bullied again.

Seeing that her goal had been achieved today, she stopped the proceedings and said to lord Livingstone. "Father, seeing his condition right now, what about keeping him in the holding room and interrogate him another day?"

Lord Livingstone was also concerned at seeing the amount of blood. Since Carra said so, he waved his hand and said, "take him and put him in the wood house. I will deal with him later. But make sure to take care of him."

After Lancelot was dragged away, Carra said to the people in the yard with different looks. "Everyone has seen it. From now on, I hope everyone will abide by their duties and do things honestly. This family here will not treat you badly. I'm sorry for your past dealings that wronged you. But if there are dishonesty in your ways from now on, this family will not be merciful to you. Okay, you can all go now."

"Yes, miss." The people responded and dispersed.

Since then, they all had a new understanding of this eldest lady.

However, Angela, Audrey and other aunts had a gloomy expression. Each with their own thoughts.

Molly, who followed to watch the excitement after her school time, looked at Carra with admiration. She couldn't help but wonder when and how her big sister became so powerful.

Lancelot, who was detained in the firewood room, died that night. On the second day, when the guards opened the door to deliver his food, they found him on the pyre covered in blood, and a blood-stained dagger beside him.

After hearing the development, Carra went to see Lancelot's body in person. According to her preliminary examination, the time of death was between 1 am and 2 am. The fatal injury was a wound about 10 cm in length on the neck, which caused excessive blood loss. The obvious cause of his death.

Looking at the shape of the wound, it certainly matched the dagger, dropped next to the body. Judging from the angle and depth of the wound, she could confirmed that it was a suicide. It appeared that Lancelot cut his own neck with the dagger.

Carra looked at Lancelot's body and sighed softly. She had no intention of harming others, but just wanted to protect herself in this strange place. Lancelot was not a treacherous person, as she could tell from how he saved Nella that day.

Nella was shocked by the events of that day. She was already outside the burning room when she woke up that day. She knew it must have been Lancelot who rescued her form the fire. So, why did he set fire to the place? Who instructed him, and why did he listen to that person's instructions?

Now that Lancelot was dead, the clue's line was broken. Looking at Audrey's performance on that day, it seemed to be related to this matter, but with Audrey's personality and ability, Carra doubted it could even be her idea, if it was her in the first place?

Carra frowned slightly. Sister Celia and Vira could only look on while Nella beside them could not help but feel sick and retch.

This girl saw a bloody corpse for the first time. She didn't dare to enter initially. But after she saw Carra going in, she mustered the courage to follow her since she had the strong will of protecting their young lady.

Then, seeing Lancelot's eyes wide open and the corpse, she couldn't help but screamed and retched again and again. She looked at Carra and wondered when the young miss became so bold.

Carra glanced at her helplessly, and told the servants next to her. "Inquire about his family for me, and make sure he's buried well. Don't forget to give them the necessary compensation."

"Yes, eldest lady," said the servants present. They also felt very surprised that this eldest lady didn't change her facial expressions at the sight of the corpse. Lancelot set fire to the eldest lady's chamber and wanted to harm the eldest lady. Yet, the eldest lady wanted to bury him well, and did not forget to take care of his family.

"That was so kind of her."

"That kind of behavior is really rare in this world."

As a result, Carra's prestige in the house of Copperstone increased, and people dared not look down upon this eldest lady who hadn't been like that before.

After Sister Celia went back to the monastery, she told Madame Zhao about the situation that day. She also praised Carra for what she said a d how she acted. The old lady was also very pleased and asked Sister Celia to pay more attention to this girl every day.

Although Angela and Audrey were itching with anger, they couldn't help the situations.
