9: This Marriage Is Over

Since the small, burnt, courtyard was in disarray, and Carra decided not to go back there, Angela gave her another courtyard, the Rose courtyard.

Carra settled in Rose Courtyard with a peace of mind. Audrey had not come to find her trouble in the past few days, so she was happy. She was reading books, admiring flowers, and listening to the rain in her free time. She was having a happy life, and she had the right to regard this as a vacation. A stress-free vacation.

A natural holiday destination.

She lay leisurely on the recliner under the grape trellis, dozing off for a while. She was deep in thought in her heart. She await prince Algernon to cancel the arranged marriage, but why hadn't there been any movement on his part or any information from him?

Carra was about to ask if someone should be sent to the palace to talk about the annulment, when Nella ran all the way to the grape trellis, breathlessly saying. "Miss, prince Algernon... Royal Palace, they are here. "

Was it finally here? Carra smiled with satisfaction and asked. Who did the Royal Palace send by?"

"It was prince Algernon who came personally." Nella replied, "Miss, he's calling you."

Carra thought for a while, stood up and adjusted her clothes. She tied the scarf on her face, and said to her maid. "Let's go."

Coming to the front hall, Carra found that besides lord Livingstone, Angela and Audrey were also there, as well as a tall, medium built man in purple clothes who was drinking wine. His glowing white eyes were sign of his Lycan heritage. Presumably this was Algernon, the only surviving son of the second son of the previous king.

Carra glanced at him secretly. He was with handsome features and extraordinary bearing. After all, he was a Lycan and member of the royal family. Yet, there was something about him not appealing to her.

When Algernon heard someone coming, he turned around casually. He saw a slim and beautiful woman walking through the door. White clothes, a white silk scarf tied on her face. What more, the warm light of the setting sun shone on her, like a fairy descending from the sky.

Algernonce looked a little stunned, but it was only for a moment. He hadn't forgotten his purpose of coming today. Because of the bad reputation circulating in the capital about Carra's stupidity and idiocy, he had always rejected this arranged marriage with disgust.

Since getting along with Audrey, he was determined to nullify the marriage. It was just that there wasn't always a reason for him to cancel an arranged marriage between a Lycan and a Machan. Now that he had finally found a reason, he certainly wouldn't give it up.

As soon as he saw her today, he guessed the Copperstone eldest lady was not as unbearable as the rumors portrayed. But why was she covered in veil? Probably, it was true that her appearance has been ruined by the fire. If he married an ugly Machan as his wife, how could he have pride among his relatives and friends?

Carra stepped forward to greet them before stepping aside.

Lord Livingstone said to Carra in a lower tone, clearly embarrassed. "Carra, prince Algernon came to cancel the marriage, you see..."

If the old man was alive, he would have cursed and fought hard for the arbitrary cancellation of the arranged marriage, but lord Livingstone did not dare. His background created his cautious character. He would easily offend the Royal Palace. So Carra had to face this embarrassment by herself.

Carra smiled slightly and said, "Father, since prince Algernon had come to cancel the marriage, he must have his reasons, and I believe it can't be too difficult for him to say what he thinks."

Algernon looked at Carra and shook his head. Seeing Carra's smiling eyes, he found that he couldn't look away, even for a second. He was transfixed.

Lord Livingstone had to quip in. "Carra, you have to think clearly. If this marriage is put off, considering your appearance, your life in the future will be..."

"Father, since prince Algernon is unwilling to marry me, if we forcefully fulfill the marriage arrangement, I will never be happy afterwards. So, we just have to honor prince Algernon's will." Carra replied resolutely.

"Never mind." Seeing Carra's determination, lord Livingstone agreed to follow the decision. Anyway, he didn't even think about fighting for Carra, and had a fight with the Royal Palace was futile.

Seeing that he had successfully cancel the arranged marriage, Algernon exchanged glances with Audrey on the opposite side.

The two of them thought their acts were concealed, but they happened to be seen by Carra and thought to herself: when did the two meet? She searched the memory of the original owner, but all to no avail.

Then, Algernon stood up and said to lord Livingstone. "Lord Livingstone, beside the cancellation of the marriage, there is one more thing I want to ask for."

"Oh, what's that, prince Algernon?" Lord Livingstone asked.

"I will like to marry Audrey, the second lady of your house."

Algernon's words were like a thunderstorm. Lord Livingstone opened his mouth wide in shock, not knowing how to respond. Angela looked at Algernon and Audrey, exuberantly joyful. While Audrey couldn't help but look at Algernon with a shy expression.

Carra sneered secretly. This prince Algernon was really impatient. He just cancel his marriage with her, and he immediately proposed to marry her sister. Did he hate her so much?

In fact, Algernon made that decision because he was really disgusted with the marriage with Carra. He was a person with high self-esteem, and naturally his wife should be a beautiful and outstanding woman, but his parents had chosen Carra for him. A woman who now appeared to him as a mediocre and ordinarily plain woman. He was naturally unwilling to marry her.

In terms of appearance, Audrey basically met his requirements. But it was a pity that Audrey was not a direct daughter of the Copperstone, so she could never be the great lady of his house, the beta. She could only be one of his side wives when she married.

But what did it matter? In Audrey's view, as long as she could grab anything from Carra and prevent her from being happy, she would be content. Now Carra was disfigured, and her arranged marriage had ended. More importantly, her original supposedly future husband was now her own.

Audrey felt that she had never been happier in her life as today.

Lord Livingstone also remained indignant about Algernon's refusal to marry his eldest daughter but nodded to the proposal to marry his second daughter. As for him, it would not make any difference whether the prince married his eldest daughter or the second daughter. He only wanted good relationship with the tree of Royal Palace for future favours.

Hence, lord Livingstone naturally agreed to Algernon's request. After seeing Algernon off, and watching Angela and Audrey return to the room happily, he couldn't help being a little sorry for Carra. The expression of resignation on Carra's face, pulled the guilty strings of his heart.

After hearing the news, Madame Mildred almost exploded with anger. Prince Algernon was really arrogant with power. He was doing whatever he liked, and he would ask if he wanted to, he simply didn't put lord Livingstone's mansion high in his eyes. After she calmed down, she asked Mother Celia to find lord Livingstone.

Lord Livingstone stayed in the old lady's monastery hall for a long time, and came out with a sullen face. On the second day, he wrote on a piece of parchment, requesting the royal king to marry off his eldest daughter.

In fact, this was the old lady's idea. She was also thinking about Carra. Carra's appearance was now ruined, she had been refused in marriage, and her age was no longer below the youthful age.

In the era when Arthurian Dynasty focused on women's reputation and appearance, especially in regards to the ruling family, she seemed to have no advantage. If he asked for an arranged marriage from the king himself, he could find a decent family for his daughter..

After Carra heard the news of the marriage, she almost wanted to cry without tears. This old lady, Mildred, had done her best for her. Although her grandmotherhad her best interest in mind when she proposed another marriage to her, she didn't want to consider another marriage so soon.

She still had a lot of things left to do, such as making money.

She heard from Vira that her mother had left a large sum of money for her before her death, including two shops in the capital. She had a lot to do.

She had to research and study ways to go back. She didn't want to stay in this world without TV, computer, internet, and mobile phone all her life.

Now she only hoped that the Arthurian king would concentrate on his daily activities, and would have no time to deal with this trivial matter of her marriage.

But she underestimated the work efficiency of the king. Within a few days, the king's will to arrange a marriage came forth.
