Sheilla Mae rolled her eyes when she saw Kent Wilson again standing near the stairs like he was waiting for someone. Because of that, she did not know if she should still go to the classroom or just skip class. Just seeing his face already made her angry. Even hearing his name was enough to make her annoyed.
She did not know why, but she was really irritated by the young man’s presence. It felt like her blood was boiling every time she saw him. She could not stop herself or even tell herself to calm down. Maybe the word “calm” did not exist in her vocabulary whenever Kent was involved.
She could not understand why she was angry at him or why she felt irritated. Kent never did anything bad to her. They were not even close. She was not even sure if he knew her or not. Maybe he did not even know that she existed. Truthfully, they had never talked even once. He had never even paid attention to her.
Maybe that was the reason why she was angry, because he never noticed her beauty. With a face as beautiful as hers, he still ignored her? It felt insulting to her pride. She smirked. But why should she care if he did not know her?
Really, Mae? You want a playboy to notice you? She rolled her eyes again. She never wished for their paths to cross.
She was already in her third year in college when the playboy named Kent Wilson Orquina transferred to their department. Yes, he was really a playboy! How did she know? Because of the stories around their department. Some students even said that almost every girl had already become his girlfriend.
She also did not expect him to transfer to the Education department because Kent was known for being good at cooking.
And that was one of the reasons why many girls in their school admired him. Mae rolled her eyes once again.
Mae kept walking and stepped toward the stairs because their classroom for one subject was on the second floor. But suddenly, the young man blocked her way.
Here we go again. Why did this guy choose to block me?
“Excuse me? I need to pass. You are blocking the way,” she said, but Kent acted like he did not hear anything. Instead, he smiled after hearing her words.
“You know what, I still have a class. If you do not have something important to say, please stop blocking me,” she added when Kent still did not move.
“You are actually cute,” he said to her. She raised one eyebrow.
“Wait a second? I think I heard something wrong—”
“I have something to give you, that’s why I waited here,” he said while taking something from his pocket. “That is my poem, Mae. I am hoping it can be included in the next publication of our school paper. I found out that you are the current Editor-in-Chief on campus,” he added. “Bye! See you around.”
He quickly ran away and left her standing there in shock.
Kent Wilson Orquina knows how to write poems?
She stood on the stairs for a few more minutes before recovering from surprise. Vanessa even saw her while she was still holding the paper that Kent gave her. She quickly hid it inside the pocket of her school uniform.
“What is that? A love letter?” her cousin asked with interest. Mae quickly shook her head.
“Then what is it?” Vanessa asked again while taking popcorn from her hand. “This is delicious. Where did you buy it?”
“Literary works. Someone submitted it,” she quickly answered. “Love letters are not popular anymore, Vanessa. Free food really tastes good, right?”
“I guess so. Come on, Sir is already in the classroom,” Vanessa replied and ignored her joke.
Free things really taste good, she whispered to herself.

AFTER class, she told her cousin that she would stay first at Blossom. Blossom was the name of their school publication.
Even after many hours passed, she still could not forget her conversation with that playboy. Who would have thought that he could write poems? Even in her dreams, she could not imagine him writing.
She let out a deep breath before pushing the office door of Blossom. It had already been a week since her last visit there because she did not really have anything to do. Yesterday, she already announced that Blossom was accepting literary works from students. Maybe Kent saw the announcement, which was why he decided to submit something.
“Good morning, Chief,” Clark greeted her. He was the Layout Artist of Blossom.
“Clark, good afternoon.”
He laughed at her answer and checked his cellphone. “It’s already twelve o’clock. Have you eaten yet?” he asked.
She shook her head. “Not yet,” she answered while laughing.
“I can tell. You are acting crazy again. Come on, let’s eat. My treat.”
“Wow, did your 4P’s money get released?” she asked while laughing again.
He pinched her arm. “No! My uncle gave me money because yesterday was my birthday.”
“Oh my gosh, happy birthday.”
“Wow, you are late with the news,” he answered and laughed loudly.
She was known as a gossip girl. But she was not really a gossip girl, maybe just a little. She knew almost every news around campus because students always came to her to share stories and happenings. After one year of being the Editor-in-Chief of Blossom, almost everyone already knew her.
“Come on, you said it’s your treat, right?”
“Oh my God, Chief. I was just joking,” he said while scratching his head and laughing.
“Do not joke with a hungry person, Clark.” She opened the office door and showed her hand toward the exit. “Go out already and let’s eat. I will treat you instead because now I feel shy,” she said while laughing.
Clark quickly walked out of the office.
“Chief, I heard that. No taking it back.” He even ran toward the canteen. Mae only shook her head.
Before she could leave the door, she saw Kent Wilson smiling at her. He was looking directly at her. When their eyes met, he waved.
“Hi, Mae.”
Mae was about to go home when she saw Kent’s face near the gate, peacefully waiting for another victim again. Surely, this guy was once again looking for students who were new to him so he could tease them. Boys in their university really seemed to have so much free time instead of being busy with schoolwork. She looked at Kent again and saw him smiling while talking to a girl.People said that was really his thing. Whenever someone new caught his attention, they were in danger. They would become his target right away.Mae quickly walked toward the gate. She acted like she did not see Kent around because she did not want another issue to start. Too many things already happened today, and she did not want more problems.“Love!” Kent suddenly called out loudly. His voice was so loud that everyone near the gate looked at him.Mae walked even faster so people would not know that she was the “love” he was calling. Or maybe he was not even calling her and she was just assuming too much. May
Mae had been restless for a long time while looking at Kent. She did not know how to approach him. Ever since what happened earlier, he had really been ignoring her. He did not even look at her. They had not talked to each other since she entered the office earlier. It was only the third day of the Intramurals, and it would be hard if they had a conflict because they all needed to work together, especially during school events like this. Their adviser even said that fighting was not allowed during school events. The office door opened again, and Monique entered. She was also one of those girls who always wanted attention. She entered happily while singing. The office suddenly became noisy compared to earlier when it was only Mae and Kent there. Monique quickly walked to the smallest table, which was Kent’s table, and placed a container of ice cream on it.“I brought you guys ice cream!” she happily announced while opening the container. “Sir treated us to ice cream at our booth earlie
Breathing hard, Sheila Mae sat down on a plastic chair near the swimming pool of the high school laboratory. Chasing the ice cream vendor was tiring too. If someone saw her, they would surely laugh at her. She fanned herself with her hand to feel a little air.She was so addicted to ice cream that sometimes she was not happy about it anymore because she would really do everything just to eat it. Actually, not just “so addicted.” She was truly addicted. She bravely chased the vendor after making sure that no one would see her. She did not know why, but her stomach suddenly told her to buy something cold, and right on time, the ice cream vendor passed by.Sadly, the vendor drove his tricycle very fast. She had no choice but to run after him. When she wanted something, she really wanted it. If she wanted to eat that kind of food, she could do anything. Even if she looked foolish. At least, she was not foolish for other people. She was not acting stupid like her cousin Vanessa, who kept f
Mae raised her left hand after getting the chalk she would use to write their possible agenda for the day. It was now the second day of the Intramurals that the university celebrated every year.A lot of things happened yesterday, and all of them were really tired. Even now, her legs still hurt. She was assigned to all the activities in the field to take pictures. Because of that, she almost walked around the whole campus. She took pictures of every game happening there. She also wrote down everything on the cellphone she carried. Even if she was not really good at taking pictures, she had no choice. There were many photographers, but she was still placed there because their adviser said, “the more, the merrier.” It was true, so she did not complain anymore. They were doing this for Blossom. But every time she looked at the pictures she took yesterday, she could only shake her head. Whoever would edit them could handle it. That was not really her role anyway. So, who would not get tir
