Sarah’s POV

I stayed in the council member’s office, my hands shaking so badly I had to press them flat against my thighs to stop the trembling. The man who’d survived the attack on Kiera had been removed from the room minutes ago, dragged out by guards who’d follow orders without asking questions. But his words still echoed in my head, replaying over and over until I wanted to scream.

Kiera was alive. She’d killed two trained fighters and survived. Everything we’d planned, everything we’d counted on, was falling apart.

“Sarah.”

The council member’s voice cut through my spiral. I looked up at him, my throat tight.

“Kiera is not here,” he said, his tone steady and controlled in ways mine could never be right now. “She’s in that forest. Alone, and vulnerable. This is your chance.”

“My chance?” The words came out barely above a whisper.

“Yes.” He moved closer, his expression calculating. “With Marcus gone, you have no solid reason to stay Luna if Kiera completes those trials. The pack k

Darius’s POV I prepared for the Luna ceremony despite the threats hanging over us like storm clouds. Laura’s confession had confirmed what we’d suspected, Lucien was planning to attack during the ritual. But canceling wasn’t an option. The pack needed stability, to see strength, and to believe that despite everything we’d been through, we were still standing.Kiera would be formally recognized as Luna, and we’d face whatever came together.Thomas helped me review security arrangements in my office. Maps of the territory covered the desk, marked with defensive positions and patrol routes.“Security is tripled throughout the territory,” Thomas reported. “Every entrance is monitored. Every guard has been vetted personally by me. No one gets in or out without authorization.”“What about internal threats?” I asked. “Sarah is still in the pack house. She could cause problems during the ceremony itself.”“She’s under house arrest with guards posted outside her door,” Thomas assured me. “She

  • Runaway Luna Rider   140: The Pawn

Sarah’s POV I panicked the moment I heard Laura had been captured. The news came through a guard who didn’t realize the significance, just mentioning casually that they’d caught a spy who’d been feeding information to enemies. My entire plan was unraveling. Laura knew everything. Every detail of what we’d done. The drugging. The pregnancy scheme. The conspiracy with Lucien. All of it.Lucien had promised me power. Had sworn that if I followed his plans, I’d become Luna of Blackhowl with him controlling things from behind the scenes. We’d have everything we wanted while Darius and Kiera were dead and buried. But now I was exposed. Not just as someone who’d made poor choices, but as a conspirator in attempted murder, in drugging and assault, in possibly faking paternity claims.I needed to get out. Needed to run before they came for me.I packed quickly, throwing clothes and essentials into a bag. My hands shook so badly I could barely fasten the straps. Where would I even go? What pac

  • Runaway Luna Rider   139: The Violation

Kiera’s POV Laura sat in the cell, her hands bound, her face showing a mixture of defiance and fear. She’d been caught trying to send a message outside the territory, and now she was facing the consequences.I stood beside Darius, watching as Thomas began the interrogation. My body still ached from the battle, but I refused to miss this. Laura knew things we needed to understand.“How long have you been working with Lucien?” Thomas asked directly.Laura hesitated, then seemed to realize there was no point in lying anymore. “Months. Since before the trials began.”“What did you do for him?” Darius demanded, his voice tight with controlled rage.“I provided information about pack movements, security rotations, weak points in the defenses.” Laura’s voice was steady but quiet. “I gave him access codes to enter the territory undetected. I knew about the poison used on Eli.”Darius lunged forward, and it took both Thomas and me to hold him back. “You knew someone was trying to kill my son

  • Runaway Luna Rider   138: The Truth Between Us

Darius’s POV I told Kiera everything, my words tumbling out in a rush of desperation and honesty. “Sarah claims she’s pregnant with my child. She showed me medical documentation with dates and test results. But the timeline doesn’t make sense, Kiera. It’s impossible.”Kiera sat perfectly still in the bed, her expression unreadable. Eli had been sent to play with other children under supervision, giving us privacy for this conversation.“The last time I was with Sarah was before Marcus died,” I continued. “Over a year ago. When she presented the conception date, I knew immediately it couldn’t be true.”“What did she say when you confronted her?” Kiera asked quietly.“She claimed I was drunk one night a few months ago. That I came to her room and don’t remember because I was too far gone.” I ran my hands through my hair, frustration and fear making my movements jerky. “But I would remember, Kiera. Even drunk, I would remember being intimate with someone.”“Are you sure?” The question w

  • Runaway Luna Rider   137: Broken Again

Kiera’s POV I learned about Sarah’s pregnancy announcement through the pack’s gossip, the way all truly damaging information spreads. A nurse mentioning it to another patient. A guard whispering to his mate. Word traveling from room to room until it reached mine.Sarah was pregnant. And she claimed Darius was the father.I sat in my medical bed, still recovering from the battle, and felt the world tilt sideways.I needed confirmation, to hear it from someone I trusted before I let myself fall apart.Thomas came when I called for him, his expression already showing he knew what I was going to ask.“Is it true?” I asked without preamble. “Sarah’s pregnant?”Thomas nodded slowly. “She told Darius a few hours ago. Showed him medical documentation.”“And the father?”“She claims it’s Darius.” Thomas’s tone suggested he had doubts, but facts were facts. “The timing she’s presenting would put conception at a few months ago.”The news hit me like a physical blow. Even though part of me had k

  • Runaway Luna Rider   136: False Claims

Darius’s POV I reluctantly left Kiera’s side to deal with Sarah, irritation burning through me. The timing couldn’t be worse. Kiera had just woken up after three days of unconsciousness, and now Sarah was demanding my immediate attention.I found her in her chambers, pacing back and forth with agitated energy. Her face was pale, eyes red from crying or lack of sleep. She looked desperate in a way that set off warning bells.“This better be important,” I said coldly from the doorway.“Close the door,” Sarah insisted. “We need to speak privately.”I stepped inside and shut the door behind me, but stayed near the exit. “Where were you during the battle?”Sarah’s expression flickered with guilt before hardening. “I was protecting myself. I’m a Luna, not a warrior.”“You’re not Luna,” I corrected harshly. “And you weren’t just protecting yourself. You fled the territory entirely. Packed your things and ran like a coward while everyone else fought and died.”“I didn’t betray the pack,” Sar
