Chapter Five

Alex's POV

"I have nothing to say to you." Lisa said and went back to her mother's ward. I followed her in with a smirk. She was already crying, I smiled.

James walked in and saw me. "Alex, what happened, I just saw you on the news, I was very worried." He asked concerned and I smiled.

"Your girlfriend proved to be a bit stubborn." I answered and he looked at her.

"Lisa, are you alright?" He asked and she nodded.

"She's not my girlfriend, I lied just to get her the job." He said and I frowned.

"Of course, you don't have a girlfriend, you have girls who take you for granted." I replied and Lisa's mom gently opened her eyes.

"Mom." Lisa called out and looked at her, squeezing her hands gently.

"I want to see you in my office tomorrow, you're to resume work immediately." I said and walked out with Alex.

"I'm happy you didn't change your mind about her." He muttered and I smiled.

"She's a pest."

Lisa's POV

I came out of the room and went to the parlor, I peeped through the window, people were not running like how they usually rush to your office. The roads weren't busy like before. Dad came out of his room smiling.

"Hey, you're dressed already." He said and handed me a plate of pancakes. I hungrily devoured it and drank the glass of water on the table. I sat down on the sofa and he also did the same thing.

"I can't believe y'all want me to work in his organization." I said annoyed.

"Lisa, you're our only hope, his organization is the only place for you to become famous." He replied and I frowned.

"He's a worthless being and I'm going to kick him in the face if he tries anything." I said and he stood up angrily.

"You just don't get it, do you?" He asked, almost crying. "We're not rich, we don't get to do what we want." He added.

"But I hate that guy."

"You'll just have to respect him, the fact remains that he is the richest man and he's just bought this street." He said and my eyes widened.

"What do you mean he just bought this street?" I asked angrily.

"Have you checked the street? It's not as busy as before, he bought it yesterday evening." He answered. "He can take you away from us and we don't want that, don't do anything that will jeopardize our future."

"How'sMom?" I asked, changing the subject.

"She's fine." He answered. "She's just busy after yesterday, you argued a lot with her yesterday night that you didn't want to go back to work for that psycho."

I ignored him as I picked my bag and walked straight to the door. I turned to look at him before coming out of the house. A car was waiting for me outside. It was his car.

"Miss Lisa, can I drive you to my organization?" He asked and I frowned.

"They're a protest in front, they're going to block the road." He said and I entered his car still frowning. "You look cute when you frown." He muttered and chuckled.

I ignored him and he started the car's engine and drove off. I was expecting to see a protest but I didn't see any.

"You said there was a protest in front." I reminded him and he chuckled.

"That's lesson number one, don't trust anyone." He replied and I frowned.

Suddenly he pulled to a stop in front of a building close to his organization. "This isn't your organization." I said scared.

"Get down." He ordered and I flinched a little.

"Why?" I asked rudely.

"Cause I asked you to, you look cheap and poor, if people see the both of us together, they'd conclude that I'm also poor and cheap." He answered and I came out of his car and crossed to the other side of the road. I took a shortcut and found his organization. I walked into the organization and found James, he was smiling at me.

"I wanted to be the first person to welcome you." He said and leaned over to kiss me. I wanted to push him away but I stood still as I saw Alex looking at me. He kissed me on my lips and I smiled.

I didn't even feel any connection, the spark wasn't there. How wonderful!.

"You should learn not to romance in the office, I sack officers who bring their personal affairs to the office." Alex said as he walked towards us.

"Hey Alex, I didn't even know you were around." James said and looked at me.

"Good morning sir." I greeted and he ignored me.

"Do you want to follow me to my office?" James asked.

"Of course." I answered.

"Are you guys normal?" He asked and turned to look at me. "I don't want to see the both of you together in the office alone." He said and James laughed.

"But why?" James asked.

"I don't want cases of pregnancy," He answered and James chuckled. "One more thing Miss Lisa, you don't have a private office, you're to work in the main office with other staff."

"Okay sir."

"And another thing, Drake's birthday event is tomorrow and he requested for an event planner, actually he wanted me to plan the whole event but I just want to see what you're capable of doing." He said and I smiled.

"Of course sir, I'll try my best to make the best preparations." I replied and I walked through the elevator and found the office.

I found other ladies there and I occupied an empty seat far from the door.

"That's where I sit." A lady said and I turned to look at her.

"Well, you don't sit here anymore as from today." I said and she pushed me, I fell off the chair and sprang up immediately.

"What do you hear about women from the streets?" I asked her and she chuckled.

"They're poor." She answered.

"Yeah but you didn't hear of this." I replied and punched her face knocking her out. She fell to the floor embarrassed. The other ladies helped her get up and she followed them quickly. She was already scared of me.
