"Emaline!" A piercing scream escaped Alaric's lips as he beheld his beloved one, unconscious and convulsing, while he contended with the renegade vampires who had submitted to their faction.

The man found himself unable to release Emaline from his grasp, for she clung to his arms with fierce determination.

As they approached the prison gates, she suddenly lost consciousness. Without a moment's hesitation, Alaric gently tapped the rosy cheeks of his beloved to assess her condition. "Goodness gracious," he muttered under his breath. He uttered the name Horacio.
