Vera’s POV

Their flight would land in Six hours.

Six.

Not tomorrow, Not next week, Not someday in the future when I had enough time to mentally prepare myself.

Six hours.

I sat curled up near the living room window staring blankly outside while my brain slowly lost its mind.

Everything suddenly felt too real now.

Last night had still felt distant somehow. Like maybe I would wake up and realize the entire thing was another manipulation from the organization.

But this morning?

No

This was real

My parents were alive

And in Six hours, they would be here.

Livia dropped onto the couch beside me dramatically, holding a bowl of popcorn for absolutely no reason considering it was barely ten in the morning.

You look like you’re about to throw up

I looked at her flatly

Thank you, Very comforting

You’re welcome

She threw popcorn into her mouth casually before glancing toward me again

Honestly though, if I found out I had a secret rich family after years of trauma, I would be handling this way better than you

Aaron looked up immediately from the other couch

That is because you would immediately ask for money before emotions

Livia gasped..Aaron that is offensive

Because it’s true

She pointed accusingly at him, You know what? Ever since you got shot you’ve become rude

Aaron blinked once

I became rude?

Lina quietly walked into the room carrying tea before muttering under her breath, He was already rude before getting shot

Aaron looked deeply betrayed

I hate this house

No you don’t, Livia replied instantly

Fair enough

I rested my head against the couch slowly while their pointless argument continued in the background

Normally it would have annoyed me

Today?

It helped

Because silence gave my brain too much room to think

Kael’s mother walked into the living room then, phone still in her hand

Everyone looked toward her immediately

Even Aaron sat up straighter

Well? Livia asked

Her expression softened slightly,

They landed in Paris an hour ago

Their next flight leaves soon

My chest tightened immediately

Everything was happening too fast.

Kael’s mother noticed my expression instantly and walked closer before sitting beside me gently

Breathe, sweetheart

Easy for her to say

She wasn’t about to meet the family she thought died years ago

I swallowed hard. Do they still not know why they’re coming?

She shook her head slowly.

Your mother thinks I just missed her and wanted to see her after too long

And her father? Aaron asked

A small sigh escaped her

He knows something is wrong, He’s been suspicious since last night

That made sense honestly

From everything I had heard so far, my father did not sound like the kind of man who ignored strange behavior

Livia suddenly frowned slightly

Wait

So they’re just casually traveling here with no idea their daughter is alive?

Pretty much, Aaron replied

That’s insane

You live with Kael, Aaron told her. Your standards for normal disappeared a long time ago

She actually considered that for a second

Fair point

Kael’s mother looked toward me again carefully, You don’t have to force yourself through this immediately if it becomes too overwhelming

I let out a quiet laugh without humor

I don’t even know what I’m supposed to feel right now

Because honestly?

There probably wasn’t a correct answer

Somewhere in Europe

Elena Rossi stood beside the large bedroom window adjusting the sleeve of her coat for the third time in five minutes while trying to ignore the strange feeling sitting heavily in her chest.

Something about this trip felt wrong

Her husband noticed immediately of course

Marco looked up from where he stood near the bed, You’ve been staring out that window for twenty minutes.

She sighed softly, Flora never acts like this

That made him pause briefly

Because he understood immediately who she meant

Kael’s mother

After all these years, Flora was still one of the few people capable of making his wife nervous

Marco walked closer slowly before adjusting the scarf around her shoulders gently

Maybe she really just misses you

Elena looked unconvinced

At this level? She practically threatened us onto a plane

That almost made him smile slightly

Almost

Then the bedroom door opened quietly

A young man stepped inside first

Dark hair, Sharp eyes, Controlled expression.

Adrian Rossi.

The oldest son.

Behind him came another man who looked similar but less controlled

Xavier

His expression already carried impatience

The flight leaves in an hour, Adrian said calmly

Xavier crossed his arms immediately afterward. Mum, are you sure everything’s okay?

Elena forced a smile quickly. Of course

Xavier looked unconvinced immediately

Because she was lying terribly

Marco noticed it too

Ever since Elena received the call from Kael’s mother the previous night, she had not relaxed once.

The call itself had been strange,

No details

No explanations

Just: I need you here as soon as possible

And somehow that scared them more than bad news would have

Because Flora was not dramatic and If she sounded shaken, something serious was happening.

Xavier shoved his hands into his pockets before muttering, This better not be about another one of Kael’s disasters

Marco almost answered before stopping himself

Because honestly?

That possibility existed

Adrian noticed their parents exchange a look

His expression sharpened slightly. What exactly did Elena say?

Very little, Marco admitted.

That immediately bothered both brothers

Xavier frowned deeply. Then why are we flying across continents blindly?

Because Flora asked us to, Elena answered quietly

That shut him up immediately

Because despite everything, all of them trusted her

Silence settled briefly inside the room.

Then Xavier’s eyes drifted toward the hallway outside unconsciously

Toward another room

Elena noticed instantly

The atmosphere shifted immediately after that

Years later and the silence surrounding their missing daughter still remained the heaviest thing inside the family

Adrian spoke first this time, voice quieter now

The house staff finished cleaning Aria’s room yesterday

Elena looked away immediately

Marco’s jaw tightened slightly

Xavier rubbed a hand over his face before muttering, We should’ve sold this house years ago.

No one answered him

Because they all knew why the room still existed untouched after all these years

Hope was cruel like that

Even after accepting death, part of them still waited.

Elena swallowed carefully before forcing herself to move again.

We should leave

Nobody argued

Kael was quiet for a moment not because he did not have an answer, he had not expected that question Out of everything Vera could have asked, he had expected questions about her parents, about leaving, about staying, maybe even about him Not Lina Vera folded her arms "Well?" The morning did not feel different in any dramatic way, nothing in the house announced that anything had changed, but Vera felt it the moment she opened her eyes because nobody came rushing in to check on her, nobody called her name from the hallway, nobody tried to fill the silence the way they usually did, and for a few seconds she just lay there staring at the ceiling wondering if this was what it meant when people said space could feel heavier than noise. When she finally stepped out, the house was already awake. She heard movement before she saw anyone, footsteps down the corridor, the faint sound of dishes somewhere far away, a chair dragging lightly across the floor, and when she reached the dining area she noticed immediately that everyone was there but nobody was doing too much. Marco sat in his usual place, Elena was already pouring tea she did not really need to pour, Adrian was reading something without really reading it, Xavier was staring at Vera like he had been waitin

The room downstairs wasn’t loud when Vera and Kael walked in, but it wasn’t quiet either. It had that strange kind of silence that only happens when people are pretending they’re not waiting for something. Marco was seated like he had been there for a while longer than necessary, Elena had her hands folded neatly in her lap but her eyes kept drifting to Vera, Adrian stood near the window like he was trying to make himself invisible on purpose, and Xavier—of course—looked like he was the only one who didn’t understand the seriousness of the atmosphere, even though he definitely did. Kael released Vera’s hand first, enough to remind her they were no longer in that space where everything felt easy She didn’t look at him immediately, that alone was already enough to make Marco notice Marco leaned slightly forward. “Vera please sit" Vera sat first. Kael stayed standing for a second longer than necessary before taking the seat beside her, not too close, not too far either Elena

Kael barely slept. Most of the night was spent inside his office staring at reports he never actually read. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Vera standing at the entrance in Elena’s arms while Marco looked like a man surviving resurrection For years, Kael had accepted two things as facts Aria was dead And nothing stolen by the organization ever came back whole. Now suddenly both facts were wrong A quiet knock came against the office door before Lucian walked in without waiting for permission Kael didn’t look up immediately Silence settled briefly before Lucian glanced toward the window How’s she handling it? Kael leaned back slowly. “Better than I expected.” That bad? Kael laughed once without humor. She found out her entire life was built on lies, discovered her dead family is alive, reunited with them and somehow still hasn’t murdered Aaron Lucian nodded thoughtfully. “Impressive honestly" Kael rubbed a hand over his face before speaking quieter

Vera’s POV The room still felt unreal. Heavy with years of grief, shock, relief and emotions nobody in this house fully knew how to handle yet. My mother still held my hand tightly on the couch like letting go would somehow make me disappear again. My father sat beside her silently, watching me with the kind of expression that made my chest ache every time I looked at him too long. Like he was still convincing himself I existed. Adrian stayed quieter than everyone else, but I caught him staring sometimes too. Small glances. Careful ones. Like he was trying to memorize every detail before reality changed its mind again. Xavier was gone upstairs with Kael and Lucian. Honestly? That somehow made the entire house feel incomplete. Aaron leaned back against the armchair before looking between all of us again. “So… I feel like nobody appreciates how insane this situation actually is.” Lina looked exhausted already. “Aaron.” “No seriously,” he continued. Imagine explaining this to
