5.

Samantha’s POV

My thoughts kept drifting to what Aiden had said yesterday as I prepared for tonight’s event. What did he mean by he wants me? At first, I wondered if I was a commodity but when I began to think deeply, I got to understand what he actually meant, and I’m still in shock.

Could it be that he had been waiting for me for three years? What could actually be his motive behind this marriage? I had spent the night doing some research about his company and realized he was doing just fine and didn’t need anything from us. He dealt in the importation and exportation of cars and that was the best business in the states. Our company didn’t hold a candle to his, so what exactly did he want from me? All of these thoughts raced through my head, and it annoyed me that I couldn’t get an answer to them.

A knock on the door jolted me out of my reverie. “Come in,” I uttered, turning the door. It opened and Linda walked in with a box in her hand.

She walked to where I sat on the bed with a smile on her face.

“What is it? Why are you smiling this way?” I asked, and she stretched out the box to me. I arched my brows, giving her a clueless facial expression.

“It’s a gift from Mr. Callymore.” She winked at me and my eyes widened.

“We aren’t married yet, and he is already sending gifts?” I scoffed and dropped the hairpin I was holding.

“Just open it, let’s see what is inside.” She suggested and I sucked in a breath. I collected the box from her and opened it.

“Wow!” Was my first reaction. It was a gown; a beautiful blue gown. My eyes were wide in shock as I pulled the gown out of the box. A note fell from it and it read,

“Wear this gown to tonight’s event, wifey.

You’re the CEO, you should turn heads tonight.”

Love, Aiden.

My heart melted at his words and I didn’t know when a smile came to my face. I took off the cloth I was putting on and slid into the one he bought. It was like the dress was made for me. It looked beautiful and fitted me perfectly, accentuating my curves in all the right places.

It has a beautiful deep V-neckline that showed a bit of cleavage but not too much, and the hemline hit just above the knee while the rest flowed to my legs. The fabric was soft and smooth, and it flowed gracefully as I moved. I couldn’t believe how good it looked on me. I felt like a million bucks.

“You look stunning, Samantha.” Linda gushed.

“Thank you.” I said, still staring at myself in the mirror. I couldn’t deny that I felt beautiful in this dress. Linda let my hair down in waves and adorned my legs with silver heels. The makeup on my face was moderate yet hot. I get confident.

“Have you gone through the list of the invited guests?” I asked Linda and she hummed.

“Yes, and you were right. Bianca is going to come. And since she is your ex-husband’s new chick…” She trailed off.

“He'll come to the event with her.” I completed it.

“Bingo!” Linda exclaimed and I smirked.

I picked up the divorce papers from the bed. After much reasoning last night, I summoned the courage and signed the paper. I was entering a new phase of my life. Stinky gold diggers aren’t welcome.

With a smile, I dropped it in my purse and smirked. “Let’s go settle some scores.”

****

We arrived at the company and with Linda beside me, I walked in and looked around. The place was filled to the brim with different businessmen and women. Some were in a heated discussion, while others just made connections.

It was obvious that most of them had no idea who I was. They knew my father had two daughters but because I hardly show my face, they knew Estella more, and I’m certain they are all expecting Estella to be the one. Jokes on them!

I looked around again to see if I could get any sign of Aiden, but I couldn’t find him. I actually wanted to thank him for the dress.

“Hi, sister, you stole the company from me. You have always been a thief!” Estella snapped and I turned to look at her.

“Do not cause a scene here, Estella. I don’t have the time for all these now.” I warned and started walking away from her.

Someone pulled me by the hand, making me stop.

“Samantha?”

I turned after hearing my name and saw Nathan. As expected, his hand was linked with that of Bianca. She scanned me from head to toes with her eyes and snorted.

“I almost didn’t recognize you. What the heck are you doing here? Are you probably a servant to one of these influential men?” Nathan asked, mockery dripping from his tone.

“She even borrowed a dress to fit in. Or did she steal it because there is no way she can afford this dress!” Bianca laughed out loud.

“Are you done?” I asked the two of them, and they blinked at me. “Not everyone is like the two of you. This dress can buy you two, so watch your mouth.” I sassed back at them and made to leave, but Bianca held him.

“I’d let go of that hand if I were you.”

We turned to where the voice came from and saw Aiden, l approaching us. He was dressed in a black suit and was even hotter than yesterday. Could it be because he gelled his hair or something else?

Bianca quickly let go of me and beamed at him.

“We were just sorting some issues out, Mr. Callymore.” She explained, but he said nothing and held my hand as he took me from there.

He stopped walking and I stopped too. He looked at me for a while. “You look stunning.” He tucked a strand of hair behind my ears.

“Thanks. You look good too. Thanks for the dress. I love the color blue.” I smiled at him.

“I know, that’s why I bought it.” He answered.

I was about to say something when the sound of the mic stopped me. My eyes went to the stage.

“Announcement! Before the event begins, I’d like to introduce you all to the new CEO of Salvador Enterprises. Welcome The Salvador Heiress, Samantha Belle Salvador!” He announced, and the hall thundered with applause.

“That’s your cue.” Aiden smiled at him.

I nodded with a sigh and, with my head up, made my way to the stage. The claps increased and cameras flashed in different directions as they tried to get a shot of me.

I got to the stage and gave them a slight bow.

“Hi, I am Samantha Salvador, Heiress to Salvador Enterprises and now the CEO!” I announced, and the claps intensified.

My eyes went to Bianca and Nathan, whose eyes were wide in shock.

That’s exactly what I want!

I have risen and no longer the lady they looked down on.

Now it’s time to make them pay!

74.“I’m sorry for the way my mother spoke to you today. She isn’t usually like that—”“Don’t try to defend her, Aiden. She is exactly like that,” Samantha sighed. “But I am not angry at all. I have dealt with something way worse than this in my lifetime. It’s nothing.” she chuckled and looked around the room. They had freshened up and were now in casual clothes. It’s been a long day, and she hadn’t had the chance to actually take in the beauty of Aiden’s master bedroom, but she wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to look around now. She had always wondered what a man like him would have in his room. The master bedroom was a stunning combination of elegance and opulence. Large windows overlooked the city, offering a breathtaking view of the glittering lights below. The room was dominated by a massive four-poster bed, its navy blue silk sheets and plush pillows calling out for a good night's sleep. The walls were painted a deep, rich shade of burgundy, offset by accents of gold and s

73.Darcel stood to her feet, her eyes locked onto Samantha’s. “I’m trying to ruin your wedding the same way you ruined my life. It’s not wrong to pay back evil with evil, no.” she blurted out, her cheeks stinging from the slaps she received, but she ignored them.Samantha couldn’t believe this lady. “You ruined yourself. And don’t even get me started on how desperate and stupid you were. This is my wedding and I will not have you come here to disrupt the peace.”Darcel let out a mocking laughter. “Peace indeed? I bet all these people gathered have no idea who you are. What you were and still are,” she said, her voice dripping with malice. “You were nothing and you will always be nothing. You are only feeling too big now because you have your father’s wealth and fortune at your grasp. Aside from that, I don’t think there’s anything else you should be proud of aside being a divorcee of course.”Immediately those words left Darcel’s mouth, Samantha gave her two sharp slaps that made eve

72.THE WEDDING DAY…Samantha stood in front of her mirror, her eyes misty and her heart swollen with joy and excitement as she glanced at her reflection. The day she had anticipated for weeks was finally here. She looked stunning in her lace and satin gown, her hair styled perfectly, and her makeup accentuating her natural beauty. Linda helped her into her veil, and Samantha's breath caught as she saw her transformed reflection. How could she trade this for something else? She could recall how Nathan had come to meet her two days ago, telling her not to proceed with the wedding and come back to him instead. She had already made it known to him that it was her choice and she was ready to bear whatever came with it. He broke her, but Aiden came like an Angel and fixed everything. He was her knight in shining armor, and she couldn’t wait to be called by his name today. Never in her life did she imagine she would be standing here to get married to this man called Aiden. It felt surreal.

71.THE SALVADORS“Sam, Seth just called to tell me Aiden’s parents won’t be able to make it to his wedding.” Linda delivered the message, and Samantha stopped what she was doing to look at her. Her expression held that of shock and wonder. She blinked at Linda. “Why? I mean, it’s his wedding after all. They should be in attendance.”Linda sighed and shook her head. “Seth truthfully told me that Aiden’s parents cared more about profit and reputation, and that’s the reason they can’t come just because they haven’t finished their business trip in Europe yet.”Samantha couldn’t believe this. What kind of parents were they? And why in heaven’s name were they acting this way? Who would miss their son’s wedding… no scratch that, who would trade their son’s happiness for temporary gain? Do they think their reputation wouldn’t be ruined if they missed the wedding? What would people say?She sighed and massaged her forehead as she thought of what to do. Their wedding day was supposed to be a h

70.Samantha and Linda walked into the boutique, the bell ringing merrily as they entered. Samantha's eyes widened with excitement as she scanned the elegant interior, filled with exquisite wedding gowns and accessories.“Linda, I'm so glad you're here with me,” Samantha said, beaming like a child who just got handed candy. “Of course, Sam,” Linda replied with a warm smile. “This is your special moment. Let's make it perfect.”The boutique's owner, Madame Le Roux, greeted them with a stylish curtsy. “Welcome, Samantha! Today's the day we make you shine like the bride you are.”As Madame Le Roux led them to the fitting area, Samantha's thoughts drifted to her big day. Not like she hadn’t wedded before, but this particular one gave her a different kind of feeling. It had a different atmosphere, and she was filled with so much excitement.“Let's get started, shall we?” Madame Le Roux said, carefully unwrapping the delicate gown from its covering. “Your wedding dress is going to be breat

Henry walked in and as expected, Agatha was with him and Russell knew it wasn’t just going to a normal talk anymore. Whenever he scolded Henry about the company, Agatha was always there to defend him and picking up fights on his behalf, and he was literally pissed and tired at this rate.Since Darcel left and Henry took over the company, things literally turned upside down. The company’s sales plummeted, shareholders were losing patience, and the employees were on edge. Russell couldn't understand why Henry couldn't get it together. He had been trained alongside Darcel before Darcel took over, and yet, he seemed to be making one blunder after another.“Dad, what's going on?” Henry asked, his voice laced with a hint of defiance.“What's going on?” Russell repeated, his voice rising. “What's goin
