Author's POV
Samantha smiled at the cameras that tried their best to get good shots of her. She looked around at the sea of people gathered and studied their expressions. Some looked happy, others were shocked and others didn't fail to show their disapproval of her being announced as the new CEO. She knew they wanted her sister to be the CEO of the company but newsflash, she had taken over and this was her time. “It is an honor to be given this privilege and I promise you all that I won't disappoint you,” she spoke about her visions and plans for the company and when she was done, she gave them a slight bow. “Thank you all for your support.” she moved aside, followed by a round of applause and cheers as the anchor came onboard. She walked to where Aiden stood, and he held her hand, causing her to freeze. “You did good.” he smiled at her, and she couldn't help the warmth she felt at his words. “Thanks.” she answered and slowly disconnected their hands before facing the stage. Aiden sighed and tucked his hands into his pockets. He knew the kind of lady Samantha was, and was aware it was going to take some time before she trusted him enough to let herself love him again. All through that process, he was going to be with her and help her heal. His eyes went to Nathan, who stood with Bianca. When he saw them talking down on Samantha earlier, no one needed to tell him that it was her ex-husband and his main chick. His fists clenched as he stared at them and saw how Nathan would glance their way from time to time. He was going to make sure he dealt with the bastard. While the event was in full swing, Samantha used that opportunity to welcome and talk with some businessmen there one on one. She also made connections with some and was able to convince some of them into becoming shareholders and business associates with them. It seemed she had magic on her lips because she was able to convince the ones she met to trust her with her words. Nathan couldn't believe what was going on. The room suddenly became too suffocating for him to be in. He wondered if he was dreaming or all this was just a prank. The Samantha he knew was a nobody. How on earth did she suddenly become this rich and influential? She even became the CEO of the greatest and biggest business empire in the state. How was that even possible? “How did this happen, Bianca? Where did it all go wrong? Samantha isn't rich. She is a nobody. I know her too well. She told me her parents were in a remote village and struggling to survive. How did she become the daughter of the Salvadors? Not just that, how did she become an heiress, and a billionaire CEO?” he asked Bianca, who was also in shock. “I have no idea, but if this is really happening, then I am in big shit,” she said, the panic evident on her face. Nathan turned to face her. “What do you mean?” he asked and she sighed. “I am part of the Sullivan, and we are number three among THE BIG FIVE here in America. THE BIG FIVE are the five largest business conglomerate in the country and the Salvadors are ranking second while the Callymore are the first. The Salvadors are shareholders in our company and are one of our company's main sources of income. Now that Samantha is the CEO, if she finds out, she might withdraw from the company, and we will lose a lot of money as a result.” she explained and Nathan gasped. “That's not fair. Besides, she has no business with you personally, so why would she withdraw from helping your company?” he asked. Bianca glared at him. “I slapped and threw her out of your house, remember?” she asked, poking his forehead as if trying to register the situation into his head. Nathan soon realized and looked in Samantha's direction, but she was no longer there. He used his eyes to look for her, but couldn't find her. “Let's look for her and apologize for everything that happened. I'm sure she will reconsider because I am her husband.” “Ex-husband.” Bianca corrected him, a frown settling on her face. “She hasn't signed the divorce papers yet. I only signed my part. There is a way we can still work things out.” Bianca couldn't believe what he was saying. He wanted to work things out with Samantha? If that happens then what about her? Is he going to abandon her or what? “You're talking like it's something to be treated trivially. If you get back together with her, what happens to me? Are you going to throw me away like you threw her away because of me?” she asked, glaring at him. Nathan held her hand. “No, that's not what I meant,” he rubbed her hands to calm her down. “I mean, Samantha loves me so much. She obviously can't do without me. If I tell her that I want us to be together, she will be happy. We will be able to use her for her money, and also live a good life together.” “So you want to deceive her? You aren't planning to leave me?” Bianca asked. “I will never leave you.” he smiled at her and she smiled back. “I'm sorry to interrupt your love confession but spare me two minutes of your time. I need to talk to you.” Samantha smiled as she walked up to them. They turned to look at her and stepped back in fear. The aura surrounding her was different now. She was intimidating; unlike the sweet and calm Samantha they all knew. Nathan noticed that she looked more beautiful than before tonight. This was the same woman he threw out of his house yesterday. How did she glam up so quickly? He flashed her a smile. “Sam.” he called softly, expecting that fluttering look she always gave him whenever he called her that way, but her expression didn't falter. She just stood there with her arms folded, her face expressionless. “Nathan,” she called. “It's nice to see you again, isn't it? You know, a few minutes ago, you and your girlfriend shamed me, and called me a broke ass bitch. Isn't it ironic and somehow shocking that the broke ass bitch is the heiress to Salvador enterprises?” she smirked, her voice laced with mockery. “What do you have to say about that?”23.SULLIVAN GROUP"Not only have we lost a deal with Mrs. Thompson to the Salvador Group, they have also been able to win over the board of directors. They have influential people on their side, and I'm beginning to doubt if we can pull through with this plan." Mr. Will complained as he took a seat on a chair facing Mr. Sullivan. He had been present at the meeting and was the one who tried to oppose Samantha and got shut up by Aiden. He was one of the Salvadors directors but his loyalty lied with the Sullivans, and he was ready to do anything even if it meant betraying the Salvadors so as to bring the Sullivans to the top.Mr. Sullivan leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he thought. "We need to think of something, and fast. We can't let the Salvadors get the upper hand.""I agree," Mr. Will sighed, the frustration in his voice was evident. "But what can we do? They have the board on their side, and they have the resources to back them up."Mr. Sullivan's eyes
22.And then slowly, hands began to rise. Aiden's eyes scanned the room, his gaze piercing as he counted the votes. Finally, he nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. “It seems the majority is in favor of Samantha as CEO. Let's get to work, shall we?”The room erupted into a flurry of activity, with directors and partners scrambling to congratulate Samantha and begin implementing her plan. Aiden watched with a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that he had played a crucial role in supporting Samantha and securing her position as CEO. Samantha looked at him. Who exactly was this man and what power did he wield to make her earn support this easily? She had thought Mrs. Thompson would be the one to save the day since her father had told her that if she had Mrs. Thompson by her side, she would win over the rest. Her father never made mention of Aiden, and he was the one who turned the game around just now.“Samantha,”She felt a tap on her shoulders and turned around to see Mrs
21.CALLYMORE GROUP“The Sullivan's just handed him a contract, and he is having a word with Bianca's father today.” Seth conveyed to Aiden, who nodded his head as he swayed in his chair.Aiden smirked. “Let's let him be for now then.” Seth raised an eyebrow. “Didn't you say you were going to deal with him, or have you suddenly changed your mind?” Seth asked, his tone teasing.Aiden threw him a glare that made him zip his mouth. “I didn't change my mind. The best form of dealing with someone in an excruciatingly painful way is to make them think everything is working for them, and they have won. When they get engrossed in their “victory”, that's when you strike. And with a blow so subtle, they won't even know what hit them until it's too late. Trust me, Seth, I have a plan. And it's going to be glorious.”Seth raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Aiden's cryptic words. He knew better than to question him further. Aiden's mind was a labyrinth of strategies and tactics, and he was always th
20.As they walked, Samantha couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity. Where was her father taking her? And what did this room have to do with the book she was holding? Finally, they reached a small library, filled with books and files. Mr. Ray gestured for Samantha to sit down, and he began to explain.“This room is dedicated to my past business ventures and partnerships. And the book you're holding is a reminder of one of my most successful collaborations.”Samantha's eyes widened as she realized what her father was getting at.“The book was written by me and Aiden's father, James. We were business partners and close friends. We wrote that book together, sharing our knowledge and expertise.”Samantha's mind was racing. She had so many questions.“Is that why you two decided to join me and Aiden together?” Samantha asked, and Mr. Ray looked up to meet her eyes.He smiled. “Actually, they were keen to join Aiden and Estella together because they felt she was my first daughter, but
19.Nathan pulled her hand down from his neck, his expression sullen. Bianca stared at him, confused.“Nathan,” she called and he hummed. “I asked you a question. Didn't you hear me, or you're pretending not to hear me?” “Bianca I-”“When are you going to propose to me?” she asked for the second time.Nathan didn't want to go into any commitment with her now. What he wanted now was to focus on the company and bring it out of the mud, but he can't tell her that, else she might withdraw the contract from them. He released a long breath. He decided to look for a way to pacify her without giving himself out.And with that, he wrapped his hand around her waist and smiled. “It wouldn't be cool if I told you when I'm going to propose to you, would it? It's something special and should be a surprise.”Bianca gave him a look of suspicion. “But it would be cool for me to know. I want to prepare for that day. Don't you know it's a very important day for ladies? We value it-”“Bianca,” he placed
18.“What the heck are you saying, Bianca? We're here trying to find a way of increasing our stock, and you have the guts to tell me to sign a contract worth millions with the Millers?” Mr. Sullivan snapped at Bianca, who went on her knees immediately.“Father, please, you can use them as part of your investment. Their company is on the verge of bankruptcy, and I am sure they will work hard if you give them this contract. They can in turn help in boosting the company's sales as well.” “You are doing this because of the love you have for that man. I can't let that happen. Do you think it's that easy?”“I understand what you're saying, Father,” Bianca replied, her voice trembling. “But I assure you, this is a sound business decision. The Millers' company may be struggling, but they have a loyal customer base and a strong brand. With our investment, they can turn things around and become a valuable asset to our company. And as for Nathan, I know you may think I'm biased, but I promise y
