CHAPTER 24

KAHLAN AND CHAD

The day finally ended. It was short at first, but everything now seemed to be dragging along. I headed quietly to the bus, getting in the back of a very long line, waiting to climb aboard. I laid my head against the metal below the window, letting out a sigh. God, I wish I had my own car. I wish I didn't have therapy. I wished for so many things at this particular moment.

"Hey, where are you going?" Chad asked, running up. He startled me a bit.

"Home," I said softly with a smile.

"You don't want a ride?"I stared the chocolate young man in his face, thinking over the idea. Was I to turn down his offer because of the destination I was heading to? I took a quick glance around, wondering where the other guys were. "The guys are staying after for football." He must've been able to read minds. What was the harm in a ride? I gave a nod.
