CHAPTER FIVE:
I don't know why I feel as though I'm having breakfast with Xander's family, starting from the woman sitting in front of me with a fake smile and the youngest girl that looked like she was eighteen making fun of me then the other guy from earlier trying to hit on me and the old man who kept saying cute things about me and Xander are all scaring the crap outta me."So won't you at least care to tell us how the both of you met?" The other girl sitting next to that girl that made fun of me asked."Shouldn't all of you introduce yourself to my girlfriend first?" Xander said with a grimace."Right, sorry for my manners Marianne, I'll go first" the young girl with the tap mouth flashed me a smile. "I'm Dianna" she introduced herself and I smiled at her."You're Dianna? Is that all?" Her sister asked with a frown."And I'm eighteen years old, in my final year in high school?" Dianna added and let out an eye roll. The second guy who has been trying to flirt with me stretched his hands out for a handshake and when I looked at Xander but didn't notice any reaction from him then I accepted."I'm Logan, I'm 21, and I'm handsome".I found the way he was smiling at me uncomfortably so I forced a smile and tried removing my hands but he refused to let me go."Let her go Logan" the woman that kept faking a smile at me glared at him before looking at me."Don't mind my naughty son, I'm Caroline" she introduced herself and I smile. The second girl that wasn't talking introduced herself as Tiana and the second woman was named Lyda, I also get to find out that the old man was named Lincoln, his son was also Dianna, and Tiana's father's name was Abel, Logan's father is not in the country and they are all with the surname Knox.I noticed that none of them introduced themselves as Xander's parents or siblings, they were all his Aunty, uncle, and cousins. Are his parents not here or are they dead?I immediately shook my head at that thought because I knew that if minds could be read then Xander would be really angry at me.The breakfast continued and in no time it was done. Grandpa Linc asked Tiana to take me to the garden to speak with Xander so I left with Tiana and decided to let them be.Xander kept escorting his grandpa till they got to the front of a familiar painting of two couples, Grandpa Lincoln stopped walking and faced Xander."My grandson, I want you to promise me in front of your parents that Marianne will be the last girl you'll introduce as your girlfriend, promise me and then that you'll settle with her and marry her," the old man said without giving Xander any breathing space to protest."But grandpa-""Alexander!" Grandpa Linc cut his grandson off immediately. "You're 26, when are you planning to settle down and marry?"Xander frowned while complaining to his grandpa. "You just said it yourself that I'm 26, so there's still time!" Xander did not look happy as he argued with his grandpa."Xander I've seen it in Marianne's body that she's a good girl, you can settle with her. Why don't you try making things work for once, who knows maybe you'll love this one" Grandpa Linc gave him a bright look.Xander sighed as he looked at his old man, just what can he do to explain to this man that he's not ready for love, her doesn't want to be a victim of what happened to his parents."I'll be leaving now grandpa" Xander gave Linc a short bow before leaving, he only took three steps forward when the old man's voice stopped him."You should know that not everyone's destiny is the same, maybe things didn't work out for your parents but have you ever stopped to think that it might work out for you?"Xander didn't reply to his question, he just glanced at the old man through his shoulders before leaving again. The old man sighed and faced the painting of two couples, he touched it and released another sigh."All because of the nightmares you gave your son, he's turning crazy. You should try to talk to him and make him know that your destinies aren't the same" he said to the picture."And this is the last part of the garden, it was aunt Velvet's favorite place before she died," Tiana said to me with a smile."Who's Velvet?" I asked, I love Tiana because, unlike her sister, she isn't mocking me and she's so nice to me.Tiana grabbed me by the arm and pulled me to a corner. "I'm sorry I need to be secure because I don't want Xander to pass by and kill me with his glare," she said in a low tone which got me so confused.I'm like, what are all these about?"Velvet is Xander's mom and she's dead".Okay, I was expecting anything other than that. Xander's mom is dead? Is that why he built a statue of her? When I thought the news was okay, Tiana continued talking."After his mom died, his father turned crazy and died too"My eyes were blank as I started at Tiana, what a cruel way to lose your parents."So if Xander is treating you so cold I apologize for his behavior, he's going through a lot and he thinks cold behavior is the right thing for him to do, so just keep ignoring him okay" Tiana flashed me a smile and placed her hands on my shoulder.I smiled and nodded at her before a servant found its way in."Miss Marianne, Xander is calling you" she informed, I looked at Tiana and Tiana nodded then I left with the maid.I met Xander resting against his car with his hands in his pocket, his eyes were on me as I walked towards him."We are leaving," he said.Of course, I know that! Why else will you be waiting for me while leaning against your car? I scoffed inside my head before nodding. This time around, I didn't need Xander to help me open the car anymore. I did it myself and also did my seatbelt myself.Xander did this too and rested his head on the body of his chair with his eyes closed. I stylishly stared at his face before clearing my throat and looking away.Could his parents' death be the reason for his cold behavior or is there more? Where the thoughts ran through my mind as we drove back to his Mansion.Debris woke up with a splitting headache, last night she drank herself to sleep again."June!!" She called out to her personal maid who rushed in immediately."Yes, young miss""I'm having a hangover, can you make me some soup?" She asked while rubbing her forehead.June looked at her and nodded, then left the room after she was gone, Debris managed to stand up and dragged her feet to the bathroom to have a shower, after showering she changed into a singlet and shorts, she didn't even bother to pack her hair when a knock sounded on her door."Who?" She asked with a frown."It's June ma'am""Come in" Debris muttered and June came, Debris looked at her hands and couldn't find the soup so she frowned her face."I was clear when I told you that I was suffering from a hangover right? Where is the soup?" Debris looked angry as she spoke to her PM."Your father said I should call you to come to eat downstairs" June replied with a casual look, she didn't care about how Debris was speaking to her because she was already used to it.When Debris heard that her dad was still around, she frowned even more. "Why is he still here?" she muttered and packed her hair before storming downstairs.Pedro smiled when he saw his daughter coming downstairs but as usual, she had this frown on her face."Princess come here" he called and Debris went to peck his cheeks.Pedro took her hands and twirled her around before frowning his face. When Debris noticed him frowning, she asked what the matter was."What's wrong daddy? Why the long face?" She also didn't look happy seeing her father's face."Princess you're already putting on some weight""So? I just put on about 5kg" Debris scoffed and sat down."I know but you're an A+ list model, it shouldn't gain even a little. It's high time you stop drinking or else you'll ruin your career" Pedro advised her.Debris rolled her eyes and stared at the plate of soup in front of her with the soup. "It doesn't matter, my life is ruined already".Chapter hundreds Meanwhile, Marianne felt a sense of closure after meeting with Greg. She had always wondered what could have been if things had turned out differently between them, but now she knew that she had made the right decision in choosing Xander.Xander noticed a change in Marianne after her meeting with Greg, and he couldn't help but feel a little jealous. He knew that Marianne loved him, but the thought of someone else having a place in her heart made him uneasy. However, he decided not to dwell on it and focused on making Marianne happy. As time passed, Marianne and Xander's relationship only grew stronger. "We had a bit of a scare, but we're both okay."Marianne was flooded with relief. "Thank goodness. What happened?""Well, we hit some turbulence," Cherry said. "It was really bad, but the pilots managed to regain control. It was pretty scary, though."Marianne shuddered at the thought of her friend going through such a harrowing experience.
