Gunshots

Night time came, Sebastian was unaware of the disaster he was about to face. He had just signed his last paperwork when he received a call from his grandmother's hospital. Amongst everything Sebastian had, he cherished the old woman who brought him up and trained him to be whom he was.

Sebastian immediately rose to his feet and directly rode in his private elevator. Now, he stood in the underground parking lot as he waiter for his chaffeur/ bodyguards. He was oblivious to the pairs of eyes watching him.

Soon, Sebastian was in his vehicle with two Volkswagen packed with bodyguards closely following behind him.

Sebastian was too anxious to notice the car that had been following them ever since he was out of work. His guards who were in the other vehicles noticed something was amiss and immediately tried telling him through the intercom but they were not fast enough.

The car who had been following them was now beside them and just as Sebastian's bodyguards were about to take the first step, a metal like bottle was thrown into each of their vehicles. Before they could relax, the bottle began emitting smoke, making the guard closer to it choke and black out. Soon, their windows automatically locked and there was no room for gaseous exchange. The next person was the driver who was finding it hard controlling the wheels. The gas from the bottle was suffocating him that when he tried holding his breath, he felt he was at the peak of death. His face and ears had turned red, with his veins visibly bulging. The same fate was encountered by the guards in the vehicle before them. Both vehicles suddenly crashed to the side of the road, completely creating a commotion.

Soon, the only vehicle that was left was the one Sebastian rode. His chaffeur noticed something amiss and immediately changed his lane, and sped away.

Few minutes passed and Sebastian thought he had escaped until suddenly, gun shots were heard in the rural area in which they had drove to. Bringing out his phone to call for back up, Sebastian squatted and sneered. 'This is war', he quietly mumbled and when his vehicle halted with a screech, Sebastian now had a pistol in his right hand, spinning it like a toy.

Gunshots were heard piercing his windows and Sebastian knew they were all futile cause the windows were all bullet proofs.

"If anything happens, make sure you catch at least one of these attackers!", Sebastian yelled amidst the gunshots.

"Yes boss!", the guard seating in the co-driver's seat saluted. Sebastian would have made a sassy comment if it were any other time but now, his life was more important.

Soon, the crumbling of stones beneath boots were heard coming towards their way.

Sebastian wasn't one to hide and he knew he had to face this head on, so, he told his chaffeur to unlock the doors. Each of the occupants in his vehicle now had different types of guns in their hands.

Soon , the door was pulled open and immediately, the occupants in the vehicle immediately fired their guns at the attackers.

Soon, Sebastian was out in the dark, firing bullets at the enemies. The back up he had called for was nowhere in sight. Sebastian realized he has being outnumbered. He was no fool to not know when to back down.

Sebastian quietly creeped away while killing the attackers.

Just as he thought he had successfully escaped, a bullet pierced his sternum and Sebastian forced back the grunt that was about to leave his lips.

He knew the attackers were firing blindly as they weren't aware of his location and he couldn't give them what they wanted on a golden platter.

Sebastian painstakingly moved away from his initial location and hid in the bushes. He was glad the area had no streetlights and that made it easier for him to escape from his attackers sight. He scolded himself for not being prepared. He knew that, this time, his enemy had gotten him good. He scolded himself for losing his guards despite the fact that he had several enemies.

Meanwhile in the same area, on the same street was a small store.

Veronica was wearing a mask making her features unknown to the store attendant. Once again, she had sucessfully sneaked out to buy candies. She was know to have a sweet tooth and this wasn't the first time she sneaked out.

On her way back, she had to by pass an area which consisted of thick and long grasses. Just as she was happily bouncing on her feet, she heard a loud bang. At first, she took it as something normal in the rural area but not until she heard several sounds that followed after, and soon, she realized they were the sound of gunshots.

Veronica stood motionless, her knees and legs were too weak to move. Even when she knew that the people firing the guns were close to where she stood. Suddenly, a figure dashed out of the bushes and immediately pulled her in after covering her mouth.

Veronica was too scared to make a noise. The earlier gun shots had made her go numb.
