JADE’S POV

I ran up the stairs before anyone could stop me. My heart pounded so hard I could barely hear anything else.

Manuel’s voice. I heard it. I was sure of it.

“Jade, wait!” Stefan called from behind me, catching up quickly.

But I didn’t stop. “I heard him, Stefan. My son is in there!”

When we reached the long hallway, everything went silent again. The air felt cold and heavy, as if the house itself was holding its breath. At the far end stood the door to Manuel’s room. My chest tightened the moment I saw it.

I rushed to it and grabbed the handle, pushing with all my strength.

It didn’t move.

“What…?” I tried again, this time harder. “Open!” I cried, hitting the door with my palm.

But the door didn’t even budge.

Stefan came beside me. “There’s a spell on it,” he murmured, frowning as he touched the door carefully. “Dark magic. Whoever did this wanted to keep everyone out.”

I stepped back, breathing heavily. “Melanie’s mother,” I whispered. “She’s behind this.”

Kieran’s POVThe night was still eerily still.Even the wind seemed to hold its breath as I stood in the center of the ancient summoning grounds. The air shimmered with old magic, thick and heavy with forgotten power.Jade stood nearby, her hair catching the faint glow of moonlight. She looked uncertain but resolute. “Are you sure about this, Kieran?” she asked softly. “Calling them out means stirring old power, dangerous power.”I gave her a faint smile. “I am their master, and they always obey me.”I knelt and pressed my palm to the rune-carved stone. My blood burned through the markings, and the ancient circle came alive. Crimson light flared beneath me.One by one, I spoke their names, words older than time itself.“Zarok… Fenris… Vyrax!”The ground trembled violently.A surge of heat exploded from the center, and the sky split open with thunder. The first to rise was Zarok, the Demon Beast, cloaked in fire and shadow. His body was made of molten armor, his eyes were like burning

KIERAN'S POVThe rain outside hadn’t stopped all night. It drummed softly against the villa’s glass walls, the steady rhythm filling the silence that followed our breathing.Jade lay on my chest, wrapped in the sheets, her hair spread across my skin like spilled ink. The faint city lights glowed through the curtains, and for a moment, everything felt calm, too calm for what was coming.I stared up at the ceiling, my hand tracing slow patterns on her arm. The war, the betrayals, the lies, it all came crashing back into my head like a storm I couldn’t shut out. Finally, I said, “Jade…”Her voice was sleepy, soft. “Hmm?”“It’s time to stop pretending like everything’s fine.”She lifted her head a little, eyes half open. “Pretending?”I exhaled. “I’ve been holding back. Hiding behind excuses. Waiting for the right time to fight back, but there’s no ‘right time,’ is there? I’ve just been weak.”Her eyebrows drew together. “Kieran, you? Weak? That’s the last word anyone would use for you.”

ARIEL’S POVThe torches in the grand hall burned with blue fire. Shadows danced along the marble walls, twisting like spirits eager for blood. I stood at the end of the long table, my hands resting on the black crystal orb. The hum of dark energy pulsed beneath my fingers. It was time.“Summon them,” I said coldly.A guard bowed and hurried off. Within moments, the air shimmered and my daughter Melanie appeared, wrapped in her usual silver gown, her eyes glinting with arrogance. The second figure to enter was the old wizard my husband, Garion or would I say my accomplice. His long white beard almost touched his staff as he walked slowly toward me. His eyes were weary, but his power was still undeniable.Melanie smirked. “Mother, you called?”I turned toward her, my golden eyes narrowing. “Yes. Sit down, both of you.”Garion raised a brow. “Something urgent?”“Everything is urgent now,” I said.Melanie sat beside him, crossing her legs. “Let me guess, it’s about the war again?”“Yes,”

  • SHADOW OF THE PAST: THE CURSED ALPHA   Chapter 238: The Ultimate Price

METATRON'S POVThe ground trembled beneath my feet as I stood in the valley of bones. These were the lords that once ruled the skies. The dragons.Their bones were scattered across the dark soil, stretching for miles. Massive skulls with broken horns. Clawed wings torn apart by time. Ariel had wiped them out centuries ago and I was here to bring them back.I knelt, cutting my palm with a dagger made from celestial steel. My golden blood dripped onto the cracked earth. Each drop hissed as it touched the bones. The valley came alive.A low rumble echoed from the ground, growing louder, deeper, until the air vibrated with ancient power. The bones began to move wings reattaching to spines, claws fusing with limbs, skulls lifting toward the storming sky.Flames burst from their jaws as life returned to them. One by one, the dragons rose again. This was my aim all along. I wasn't able to do this ritual before but I have to pay a huge price to be able to resurrect these dead dragons.I stood

JADE’S POVThe morning sun broke through the curtains, a golden streak brushing across my face. I stirred and sat up slowly, realizing where I was in Kieran's bed. The scent of him lingered on the sheets, dark and familiar. I hadn’t meant to fall asleep here last night; I had come in just to wait for him.The door creaked. My heart leapt. Kieran stepped in, his black coat dusted with the cold morning air. His eyes widened when he saw me sitting on his bed.“Jade?” he said quietly, almost disbelieving. “You’re… here?”“Yes,” I murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “How did the counsel meeting go?”He closed the door behind him. “We are still on the plan. But part of the plan is to work with Metatron, your father, because he is the head of dragons and we would need every help in order to stop Ariel and her daughter” he said, walking closer. “Did something happen?”I took a deep breath. “Kieran, Jake and Mabel found out something last night. Something about Pearl.”He frown

JAKE’S POVMabel and I walked down the corridor toward the main lounge, the memory of what we’d seen last night in Pearl’s room still haunting my thoughts. When we turned the corner, we found Jade sitting on the long velvet couch, her head resting on her hand. She looked lost in thought, her eyes distant.Mabel and I exchanged a look before I spoke first.“Morning, Jade,” I said softly. “You look… off. Is everything alright?”She lifted her head slowly. Her face looked pale, her expression tired. “I’m fine,” she murmured, though her tone said otherwise.Mabel walked closer and sat beside her. “No, you’re not,” she said gently. “What’s wrong?”Jade sighed, her fingers tracing the rim of the teacup on the table. “It’s nothing,” she whispered. “Just… too much on my mind.”I sat down opposite her. “If it’s about Kieran, you can talk to us. You know that, right?”Her eyes flicked to mine briefly before she looked away. “I don’t even know where to start, Jake. Everything feels like it’s fal
