ALVINA'S POV:

Ever since my childhood I've been crushing on Bryan. He makes my heart flutter but I've never had the courage to approach him and tell him how I feel about him.

Amongst his friends, he is the most quiet and sensible one, except my brother of course.

Hardin is annoying, and he is corrupting Scott to be as annoying as he is.

I have written so many diaries about him. I just wish he could be my boyfriend.

He treats me like his younger sister and my goal is to make him realize my feelings for him.

I plan to go on a date with him today, though to me it's a date, but to him it might be just an outing.

My phone rang as I was going through my walk-in closet to get a perfect outfit for the date.

The caller ID showed his name. I picked up the call and answered it.

“Hello Bryan”. I answered cautiously in order not to make any mistakes in my speech. It will be so embarrassing if that happens.

“Hi Alvina, I called to tell you that I have an emergency and I am sorry we need to cancel

JADE'S POV:As I stood with him, I couldn't help but be afraid. He looked so frightening.I managed to get away from his grip and then ran again.I ran down the hall, but his steps were faster. “Jade, stop!” Kieran’s voice echoed behind me.“No!” I gasped, pushing harder.A strong hand grabbed my wrist and spun me around. I crashed into his chest. His grip was firm, and unshakable.“Let me go!” I cried, struggling. He looked down at me, his eyes burning but soft at the same time. “Why are you running from me?”“Because you’re dangerous,” I spat, glaring up at him. “I heard everything that you said earlier.”His jaw tightened. “It’s not what you think.”“Then tell me what you meant,” I said bitterly. He held my arms tighter. “Because the world is cruel, Jade. And if I don’t fight, everyone I care about will die. You—” He stopped himself, breathing heavily. “You’re safe with me. Always.”I forced myself to still, though my heart still hammered. “Safe with you…” I repeated, pretending t

JADE'S POV:The darkness pressed around me.I was in the woods. The wind howled, and the trees groaned. Somewhere ahead, I heard crying.“Please… help me!”A small boy stood in the shadows. His hair was messy, his face wet with tears. His little hands shook as he reached toward me.“I’m afraid of the dark,” he sobbed. “Don’t leave me. Please, pull me out before the tunnel takes me!”I looked down and saw a dark hole opening under him. A tunnel. It pulled at his legs like a monster.“No! Give me your hand!” I cried.I stretched out my arm. My fingers almost touched his.“Help me!” His voice broke, filled with fear. But before I could grab him, the tunnel swallowed him whole. His scream echoed, then vanished.“NO!” I shouted, reaching into the empty dark.My eyes flew open.I was lying in a big bed, bigger than anything I had ever seen. My clothes were damp with sweat, my heart was also racing.“Who was that boy?” I whispered to myself. “Why did he want me?”I wiped my face and swung my

KIERAN'S POV:I sat in my study, the heavy doors closed. The candlelight flickered against the walls as Metatron stood by the window, his arms crossed. The old wizard hunched near the fire in a silent manner.I poured wine into a cup but didn’t drink. My thoughts were full of Manuel, my brothers, and Alvina. Finally, I spoke. “We need a plan. Tell me, wizard, how do we bring them back?”The old man lifted his head slowly. “My lord, it will not be easy. Melanie has bound them with dark seals. They are slaves now, body and soul.”Metatron’s golden eyes glowed faintly. “Slaves,” he repeated coldly. “She dares.”I slammed my fist on the table. “And my son? What of Manuel?”The wizard lowered his gaze. “The boy… is alive. His spirit is strong. But the portal I opened could not pull him. He resisted. He is still in the other world.”My jaw tightened. “Then we will open another portal. We will tear the veil apart if we must.”Before the wizard could answer, the door burst open.“Kieran!”I s

KIERAN'S POV:I tightened my grip on the old wizard’s robe, ready to crush the life out of him for what he had done to my son. My hands shook, my beast inside me begging to come out. Then I heard her voice, soft, broken sobs.I froze. My head snapped to the side.“Jade…”She was curled on the ground, her body trembling, tears slipping down her cheeks. At once, all thoughts of the wizard vanished. I let him go and rushed to her, gathering her into my arms.“Shh… it’s alright, I’m here,” I whispered, pressing her against my chest. “I’ve got you.”Her lashes fluttered as if she was trapped in some nightmare. I stroked her hair until, slowly, her eyes opened. When she looked at me, my heart stopped.Fear. The same fear she had the first day we met.“Jade?” My voice cracked. “It’s me.”She stiffened, her eyes darting around the room, then back to me.“Please…” she whispered, her voice small. “Don’t take me back to them. I—I’ll be a good bride. Just… don’t send me back to my family.”The wo

KIERAN'S POV:I screamed and tried to go back to take my son, but it was too late. “No!” I roared, wings thrashing as I fought against the force of the tunnel. “Not now! Not without him.Manuel.My heart cracked. My roar shook the sky. “Manuel! Don’t you dare, don’t you dare leave me!”But the tunnel has already swallowed me whole, dragging me, Jade, and Metatron’s corpse into its violet force I fought, and at the same time clawed at the light, desperate to tear it apart, to break free, to stay in the past world where my son is trapped. And then, just before the world dissolved, clarity struck. This was all my fault. Had it been I knew that my wish would come with a price, I wouldn't have made any wish at all.My boy. My son. My heart ached for him.It seems Manuel knew about the consequences as well that's why he chose to stay back.Manuel had sacrificed himself to remain in the past, so I, Jade, and Metatron’s body could be pulled back to where we belonged, the modern world. The l

KIERAN'S POV:Darkness swallowed me whole.I opened my eyes to find myself back in the forest of my soul. The air was heavy, the trees shrouded in mist. The brook that usually glimmered was black as ink.And they were waiting. The dragon perched on a cliff, wings furled, eyes blazing like molten gold. He didn’t even look at me. The demon beast, small and sharp, crouched on a branch above, tail flicking, expression twisted in disgust. He turned his back, refusing to meet my gaze.Only the wolf stood before me, silver fur shimmering faintly in the dim light. His amber eyes were colder than winter.“You fool,” the wolf growled, his voice echoing through the forest. “You threw yourself under the blade for a girl who would let you bleed out on the stones without blinking.”Shame scorched me. “She’s… she’s lost. Twisted. But she can be saved.”The wolf bared his teeth. “And what of the kingdom? What of your son? You failed. You let chaos consume everything while you clung to her shadow.”“B
