Xurion’s POV

Mistake. Or just fate. I don't know… But I wasted the last five years of my life married to a woman that still chose her ex-boyfriend who hurt her years ago.

Happy anniversary, Circe.

Eight years of loving you. Five years of calling you my wife.

Today, our special day, I'll finally give you what you've always wanted. Freedom, sealed in ink, divorce papers.

Now you can be with your first and only love.

The one I caught you moaning his name at the garden on our last anniversary. And the same name you moaned most nights I attempted to have intimacy with you as my wife.

I've been putting seizure medication in all your jackets, just so you are safe when I'm not there.

And spraying your clothes with diazepam, all night when you were asleep.

But you never even noticed all these things.

That's fine.

Drayton can take care of you from now on.

I spent three months at the dietitian to learn how to cook healthy foods for you to manage your peptic ulcer.

But you don't even know this. Because I didn't tell you. I didn't need to.

And you..you never wondered or even asked.

I looked forward to being the best father to our kids, I even learnt baking for you and our future child.

But you don't even want kids with me.

I mean, the pack of contraceptives I found in your cupboard last week poked my wishes.

For five years I had been worried. And had been in and out of the hospital for check ups.

But it's cold.

Because you were behind it, all these years.

Even now, as much as I hate the truth that you are in love with some other man, I sit here, this late, the ticking clock being my only companion, still worrying about your safety.

Old habits die slow, I guess.

Unloving you will take some time.

A sharp rap sounded at the door, getting me on my feet with speed.

“Hey, where have you been? It’s one in the morning,” I asked, holding Circe up with my arm.

She buckled into my chest, handed me her jacket and then staggered past me towards the stairs, her phone pressed against her ears.

Her blonde hair was quite a nest suit for a homeless bird.

And her shoes clicked against the white floors, so uncomposed they sounded like rain taps.

She smelled like strawberry, girl things and alcohol.

Alcohol?

I sighed and trailed behind her.

“You have conditions, Circe. You can't drink, you know that,”

“Yeah, Drayton,” She bumped into our bedroom, kicking off her shoes and tousling into the bed.

Drayton?

She was with Drayton all night?

Oh, great.

Something flickered in my chest. Anger maybe. Or something I couldn’t pin out.

Remembering I had been up all night worrying for her. And not getting a second of sleep. Just because she was with another man.

“I just got home,” she spoke into the phone, her dimples deepened in a bright smile and her soft blue eyes twinkled.

That smile.

She never smiled at me like that.

Even when I tried so hard.

Her babyish voice sang, “ So, are we still on for Norway next week? Because I found a gorgeous ski resort in the mountain”

My blood became solid.

My wife was happily planning a tour with her ex-boyfriend while she was always too busy to agree to go to one with me.

This time she laughed, “ oh yeah, of course, it'll be just us. And uh, thanks for letting me wear your jacket, Dray.”

What??

My world froze.

I stared at the black fur jacket in my hands.

I was holding my wife's ex-boyfriend’s jacket…in my own hand??

I had another man's clothe in my home?

“ Oh yeah, I noticed that too, it smells just like you,” She smiled, her words rolling out like missile.

I tightened my grip on the jacket till my fist trembled and my knuckles cracked.

My jaw tightened till I tasted copper.

Yet, with contempt I dropped the jacket on the floor and just walked away.

I should be blamed for failing to unlove you quick.

And thinking I could fill in that void you didn't ask help with.

Her stern voice called me back, just as I turned, “What the hell is your problem?” She asked scowling, her words poking my ego.

“Pick that up!” she ordered.

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter 44 : Fatal Coincidence

Xurion's POV. My phone buzzed in my pocket. The sharp ringtone cut through my thoughts like a razor. Before I reached for it, it had stopped ringing, and when I checked, I found out it was Sofia. I was still pondering about the encounter with Circe again when the phone rang again.“Hi, Mr. Xurion.” Sofia's voice came out of the phone the moment the line connected.“Can you find your way to the lobby?” I hadn't even said anything when she continued. I answered shortly, “Sure, I can.” I made a few retraces in my head and answered again. “Yes.”“Alright.” The line beeped to an end. Like the thought was waiting on a queue, the encounter with Circe resurfaced in my mind immediately.Pushing it behind, I wore my jacket and fixed the little strand of hair that had fallen off the waxed spot to my brows. It took me about five minutes to finally find the lobby. Though I had thought I remembered. But it wasn't that difficult to locate still.Sofia walked towards me the moment I stepped into

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter 43 : Lonely regrets

Circe's POV “Fucking Xurion.” I slumped into the bed, my body curled under the blanket simultaneously. The assigned room felt like a safe space where I could finally fan out the tears that had flooded my eyelids.Gently the tears started to flow. I mean, “How could he correct me and tell me that we were divorced?”After all we've passed through? Now he suddenly acts like he didn't beg for my attention or love from me in the past. After carrying golf sticks for me and staying up to clean me up after every pettê party with the girls. How could he pretend that he doesn't love me anymore? I know he still does. He didn't go through all that just… to suddenly hate me.Was I too gentle out there? Maybe if I had lodged my fist into that cheap bitch. Maybe… Just maybe, Xurion will know how serious I am.“You are pathetic, Circe.” I gnashed against the pillow till my gums ached. I pressed my face against the pillow like that. All the emotions I thought I had in check seem like they had book

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter 42: At The Event

Priela's POV The car glided to a halt in front of the company building after a long drive.I waited till the car hummed and quietened before getting down. Just after Xurion had gotten down and slammed the door close, father's men approached us.Leo, the lieutenant officer lead the other three men. They were all dressed in the usual black suits. His hand was firm on the wired phone on his right here like he was receiving or passing an Intel to someone.“Your father wants to meet you at once.” Leo’s bold voice said with no formality the moment they got close.Father was here?“Where is he?” I inquired, sounding calm and hiding the devastatement I felt. “ At his office,” his answer was short and calm until he added, “ Both you and the astronaut.” I was confused but I just nodded slowly and dismissively and they all left.My heart wasn't fully racing. But it gnawed at something fishy.I don't remember father talking about coming today since I was handed the company and he'd decided to

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter 41: Finally Found Him.

Circe's POV My legs froze in place and my whole body grew numb like I was spellbound to a spot.My lips shook and parted, “ Xurion.” I forced the name out of my throat, but the word flattened at the tip of my tongue and ended a whisper. My eyes warmed but the tears didn't form. They just didn't form.My chest hardened with enough ache that urged my throats to scream.“Can you see that, Circe?” Drayton's sweet voice lodged me out of my head and I turned to him smiling and taking in the beautiful wall arts that he pointed at.Something from the pit of my guts bubbled up to my throat and it tasted bitter. My smiles faded a little as the sourness hit my cheeks. Flipping my hands akimbo, I nudged my nostril to the air, fixing a brighter smile on my face as we took another elevator. The type of smile that could cringe a child… yeah. But the kind that also filmed thousands of the thoughts that had assembled in my mind.So truly he was chasing girls?Godforsaken Xurion, stole my fucking m

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter 40: Someone Looked Like Him

CirceThe car hummed softly beneath my back. My hands are folded on my chest and I'm staring outside through the window. My breath hummed gently in my chest.Drayton's voice interrupted the soft music that played in the car. “Is that a tear in your eyes again?” I heard him speak but I don't bother because I haven't been part of their discussion since we left home. “Circe?” He called, tapping me. The moment his finger touched I jumped out of my mind. I was taken aback. I stared back into his face in askance and confusion. His gaze didn't stay long enough as he returned them to the road. But I caught his brow crease before they left.Tears? Shit.I touched my face and wiped the liquid that I didn't even notice had rolled down my face.“Is she crying again?” Caspian hissed from the back seat. “ Circe… come on. Again?”“I wasn't crying,” I protested, my voice tired, even my eye balls wouldn't roll properly at Caspian.“ I saw the tears, I saw them fall.” Drayton pushed.“It just fel

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter 39 : Is Roderick Planning something ?

PrielaI recognized the car. And I knew who occupied it. The instance forced my heart to race. The headlight cut through my vision. And it remained for a moment…too long. I pinched my eyes close and a small wince shot out.Xurion as well stopped moving and waited, standing close by. Too close for this situation. The car door purred open slowly. It's sound vibrating in my ribcage. Then slowly he climbed down. His shoes stamped quietly against the floor one after the other till he was fully out.He didn't stop. He didn't hesitate. He walked straight to me. I feel my throat move as I gulped. He…was smiling. My heart raced the more. It wasn't hard to think that he was going to let hell loose on me. But with that smile? I couldn’t help but frown. He threw his hands over me in a hug. Stealing me out of my head for a moment and knocking the fucking air out of my lungs.“ I take you are the famous astronaut, Xurion, am I right?” He asked, sounding suspicious. He unbuckles the hug and his gaz
