Joanna's POV:
Waking up to sound of keys jingling and rattling together was something I found very unpleasant for the first time in years. My ears and head throbbed painfully and I felt like they were about to bleed. No one ever told me that pregnancy was this hard."SSS."The sound of someone hissing was enough to make my eyes fly open as I stared vigilantly in the dark dungeon. Thankfully, I was able to see clearly in the dark this time. Standing before me was the young man I wasn't expecting for once."What're you doing here?" My voice was meant to come out as a whisper but sounded like I had been dipped in shit and was dehydrated for years."Shhhh," The guard, whom had been watching after me in my former cell held his finger to his lips as he stretched out his hand to me.Hesitantly, I stared at him and for once in my life, I decided to take this dangerous step.I placed my hand in his and I felt his grip tighten as he pulled me to stand."I want you to be as quiet as possible. Avoid bumping your stomach," He said, turning to face the door, missing the look of horror and shock on my face."Don't worry, I didn't say a thing."He spoke again and it was like my soul had left my body. How did he know I was pregnant? When did he know?I was glad he didn't tell anyone as that would only put me in more problem. He led me through a secret passage way I had no idea was in this hellhole. We had only taken a few more steps outside the passage way when we saw the patrolling guards. How could I have forgotten about the monsters Sebastian had trained?"This is what's going to happen, as soon as they are distracted, run towards the border as fast as you can. Don't look back, I'll be there with you shortly."I didn't have the time to ask him what he meant when I saw him sprint towards the patrolling guards in a flash. They were a total of three bulky men and I doubted my helper would be able to hold them off.I was about walking towards them when I felt his eyes on me as he distracted the guards. Seeing this, I immediately sprinted towards the forest, where the border was without looking back.Goodbye to the Red moon pack! I yelled hysterically in my heart as I continued running. Along the way, I saw tiny furry animals that brought smiles to my face. It's being a whole of ten minutes waiting for my helper but he was nowhere in sight and I was starting to get sick of this forest. I had the urge to vomit out whatever was in me and the filthy smell in the air wasn't helping.I thought forests were supposed to be surrounded by pure air but I guess I was proven wrong once again. The creaking sounds in the forest were enough to make me alert as I wrapped the only shawl I had tightly around my body.I held my breath, hoping it'd be my helper that was here. Thankfully, he soon appeared before me but then, my eyes enlarged as I stared at his bloodied chest and large claw marks."Y...y...what happened to you?" I stammered out as tears sprung out of my eyes while I glided my hands on his bloodied chest, hoping it was only my illusion but feeling the warm temperature of his blood on my hand was proof enough to tell me that it was real."I'm fine. Take this and leave now. Do not ever let them take you again because you would never have the chance to leave. Live well, sweetheart," He whispered, trying to look brave but I could tell he was hurting. No one would ever be able to survive those large claw marks."No! No! I'm not leaving you here. Come with me. Let's leave together," I cried out, pulling him by his hand.Even if I had just gotten to know him a little, I could tell he was a kind man at heart despite his scary appearance."No! You need to leave. I'll be fine.""Why? Why? Why are you doing this? Why are you helping me? What did I do to deserve this help from you?" I cried miserably, choking on my sibs as I stared at him in the eye through my blurry vision, thanks to my tears."Because you remind me of her...She was just like you once were. So small yet so brave. She had been used just like you were. Out of shame, she killed herself, leaving me behind all alone."Then, I saw a streak of tear stream down his face. Appearances definitely had a way of fooling people? How could a man whom I thought was heartless be carrying so much pain despite his calm exterior? It wasn't the time to ask about whom he was talking about as I only wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. As soon as I stepped out of the border, my connection with the pack would be broken- not that I had any."I won't leave you alone! Please let's go together! You helped me, now let me return the favor by helping you too," I cried, unable to stop myself and seeing the pain in his eyes showed me how much he was hurting."If you really want to help me, find her and take good care of her for me, my name is Jude" He said, stuffing a crumpled photograph into my hand.I had no time to open it when I felt a slight sting on my palm as blood dripped on the floor. It turned out that Jude has slashed my palm intentionally with his claws.I knew the repercussion of what he did as this would only make the guards find me faster. I knew I couldn't argue any longer."Go!" He screamed and my heart bled."I promise, I'll pay you back," I cried out and turned, running and crossing the border, leaving my past behind but just before I turned fully away, I caught a glimpse of claws shooting out the chest of Jude. Then and there, I knew he had been killed.I ran blindly into the streets and once again, I believed I had a fate with getting hit with vehicles. This time, I hoped I wouldn't wake up back in that hellhole.Joanna's POV:Remember when I said waking up to the rattling and jingling of keys was something I found unpleasant, well, I think I preferred it to being poked by sticks and fingers.I had never felt so much pain in my entire life than I currently did. It felt like I had been run over by a large truck.....My thoughts suddenly trailed off when I remembered the last thing that happened to me.Was I back in the Red moon pack? Where was I?"Do you think she's awake?" I heard an unfamiliar make voice and for a moment I wondered if I was in heaven. Had my soul flown out if me? Definitely not because I could feel the pains in my body, telling me that this wasn't a dream."Shut it, Rob! This fine specimen has been unconscious for hours after getting rammed into by our car. It's a miracle she's still alive,"Another male grumbled out and I had the urge to open my mouth and laugh out loud. I suddenly registered his words, 'fine specimen'. Was he talking about me? There was no way it wasn't me
Sebastian's POV:My mate, she was my mate! This was the only thought I had ever since I surveyed the area within the border after the white haired lady I believed was supposed to be my sex slave left. The drop of her blood on the floor within the area was enough to give me this understanding. I was confused, tired and frustrated which I had never felt in my entire life. I had been brought up by my father to be able to earn the name I was called. I had always been thinking of different scenarios where I'd get to meet my mate but I didn't expect her to be gone just as fast as she came and I had no idea about it. If Joanna was my mate, then, who was Chloe, the woman who had claimed to be my mate? At that moment, I knew I had been fooled by her because I had been too blind to overlook the lack of sparks anytime our body touched. With Joanna, the only thing I felt was a tingling sensation which did things to me but I had never felt the sparks. Despite this, I was sure she was my ma
Joanna's POV:When would it ever stop? Time and time again, I had been waking up by the worse possible means ever but each time, it gets worse than me."Haaaa," Screaming out my lungs, I jumped off the bed I laid on as I held my chest in pain. The pain shooting all over my body was a pain I never believed was possible. The pain shot from my chest to my whole body and I felt like I was being crushed.I didn't realize when three people burst into the ward until I felt their hands on me, shaking me to reality."Hey, hey, what's wrong with you? Doctor! Do something!" In my hazy state, I heard his panicky voice. I badly wanted to comfort him but from my state, I knew that was impossible. I didn't know for how long the pain lasted but I knew the doctors were unable to do anything to stop it. "Something is wrong with her? This isn't normal. We need to call the pack's doctor, Ian," I heard one of them say."Is anything about her normal? Does her appearance look normal to you?" Listening to
Joanna's POV: Tears streamed down my face as I thought about Sebastian sleeping with someone else. What more was I expecting? I sighed, trying to blink back my tears but all to no avail.I heard receding footsteps and tye sound of the door opening as the men walked out of the room, leaving me all alone. I knew it was safe to cry despite telling them I didn't know who my mate was. No werewolf would take the story of their mate sleeping with someone else lightly even when they were yet to interact."You'll be fine. I give you the permission to stay in my pack till you are ready to leave. Your baby would not be separated from you even after birth. Welcome to Blue moon pack," His cold breath hit my ear as he whispered into it. My body went stiff momentarily as my eyes widened in shock. I didn't hear him walk out of the room as I was lost in thought. The Blue Moon pack? The number one rival of Red moon pack? The enemy of the man who used me? Wow!! I couldn't help but jump in joy, thank
Unknown POV:Upon listening to what the white haired lady said, Alasdair, Micah and Mark all exchanged glances, their eyes widening in surprise.Of course, they knew whom that voice belonged to but they didn't just expect the lady they had saved to hear it. There had been some hidden secrets in their pack which never got out. Among them all, Alasdair was the most surprised one. As the Alpha of the second largest pack in the country, he also didn't see that coming."Who are you?" The question slipped out of his mouth before he could stop it.The soft gasps of Micah and Mark could be heard but Alasdair paid them no heed as he was more concerned about the white haired lady who caught his attention. Joanna pretended not to hear his question. She seemed to have figured out that she wasn't supposed to hear that voice and now, she was going to be tagged as a weird person once again."Don't worry, it's fine. Take a warm shower and go to sleep. Tomorrow morning, I'll be introducing you to t
Joanna's POV;Morning soon came. It was only when I stepped out of my room did I realize how large and luxurious this house was. I was woken up by a lady whom I made out to be a maid. She assisted me in doing menial jobs in my room and also picking out my clothes for my big introduction to the pack members. As I walked behind Micah, I felt my heart pound furiously in my chest. I was a nervous wreck as I tried to control myself. Earlier this morning, when I was woken up, I noticed a large gap of difference between yesterday's bump in my stomach and this morning's. I put the blame on the delicious foods I ravaged like a ravenous wolf. Well, who could blame me? It had been so long since I got to eat a good meal."Did you have a good sleep last night?" Micah suddenly asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. I didn't know his intention but he had also done nothing wrong not to get an answer from me. It'd be very rude of me to not answer him."Yes I did. Thank you for your hospitality and
Joanna didn't realize they were now standing outside the Alpha's house, as she had come to learn. Standing before them was a large number of people, staring intently at her like a newly bred animal in the zoo. She felt uncomfortable by their stares but there was one thing she could feel among all. They weren't judging her but were mainly surprised at the arrival of a new member in their pack who was moreso pregnant. "Greetings, Alpha!!" They all greeted loudly as soon as they saw Alasdair appear behind her. Joanna's ears hurt due to how loud their voices were. She could slightly feel the ground tremble from their greeting, making her realize how numerous they were. Though, Joanna could barely see them all from where she stood, she could tell that the number of people in Blue moon pack were a tad bit plentier than Red moon's pack. Alasdair only nodded his head in acknowledgement to their greeting, stylishly shrugging off Veronica's hand that was wrapped around his arm. His gaze u
Melissa's words hit a nerve in Joanna's body. Her anger was starting to brew. Before Alasdair could butt in, Joanna spoke up."Why don't you say that to my face?" She asked, her voice laced with venom as she glared at the lady clad in a red gown. As they stood opposite each other, one could see the huge difference between them both. It appeared that Melissa was an inch taller than Joanna, and slightly bigger than her, making her have more advantage of the situation since she only smugly looked down at Joanna. "What? I was only stating the truth. Moreover, who knows what will happen if your baby ends up getting killed in a battle or something. Who would pay the consequence? Tsk! I doubt there'd be any since you don't even know whom the father of your child is. In other words, your child is technically a bastard," Melissa added smugly, enjoying the light giggles and snickering from her friends nearby.Joanna's eyes had already turned red due to anger. Her fists were tightly balled an
