Something had shifted inside of me – a sudden rush of confidence that I couldn’t explain. Now I knew that I wasn’t the only one who could be ordered around, and I was determined to show him that he wasn’t as powerful as he thought. I had a plan, and as soon as my hands touched that box, he would be finished. It was only the beginning of my revenge, and I could hardly wait to see the look on his face when he realized that his power was gone.

The scowl on his face had been replaced by a sickly-sweet smile, and I knew immediately what he was up to. He was trying to play nice for the cameras, hoping to score some points with the press. I had to hand it to him – he was a master manipulator, and he knew exactly how to work the crowd.

“I think you’ve got quite the catch, Mr. Ryan,” a guy said, a smile playing on his lips. “Your wife is beautiful, and I’m sure you’re lucky to have her. Although, if I had met her first, I might have been the one to win her over!
