She stood before the mirror, her hands trembling as she ran a brush through her hair. Her eyes were wide and fearful, a far cry from the confident and self-assured woman she had been just a few hours before. This was no ordinary betrothal – she was being forced into marriage with a man of immense wealth and power, a man she knew nothing about. She felt like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Olivia Archer woke up one morning to discover that she had been betrothed to a ruthless billionaire. She felt a mix of emotions: shock, fear, and confusion. She knew that saying no to the betrothal would have dire consequences, but saying yes seemed even more dangerous. What was she to do? The options before her seemed impossible, and yet she had to make a choice. Which path would she take?

The room Is suffocating, its walls pressing in on me, trapping me in its claustrophobic embrace. The air is thick with dust and despair, weighing down on me like a heavy mantle. The stairs creak under my feet, each step feeling like an eternity. I descend into the darkness, my vision blurred by the tears that run down my face. I know what awaits me at the bottom of the stairs – a choice between life and death. I must face my fate, whatever way it may end. The thought sends a shiver down my spine.
The choice Before me is as clear as it is horrifying. To marry a ruthless billionaire, to bind myself to a man whose name is spoken with fear and loathing – this is a fate worse than death. But I have no choice, for I have been told that my life depends on it. I must marry this man, or die. As I stand on the brink of this decision, I feel a wave of hopelessness wash over me. I am trapped, with no escape in sight. What will become of me?
I watch my father’s eyes drop to the floor, unwilling to meet my gaze. My fingers tighten around the handle of my bag, my grip so hard that it feels like I could crush the leather in my fist. My eyes flicker to my mother, who stands frozen in the corner, tears streaming down her face. She looks so small, so fragile, and I know that she is as helpless in this situation as I am.
Mr. Arnold's voice was hard and cold. 'We have no time for family moments. She is ours already. You should have known better before selling your daughter to us. My heart was pounding in my chest. I could feel the blood rushing through my veins, making my face flush with heat. Mr. Arnold’s words echoed in my mind, and I felt sick to my stomach. How could he say such a thing.
As he spoke, his eyes narrowed, and I could see a slight curve at the corners. ‘You don’t have to be sad, Olivia,’ he said in a deep, resonant voice that sent a chill down my spine.
My lips were stitched together, and I struggled to utter a single word. My eyes were swollen from the night before, when I had wept inconsolably. It had been the most horrific night of my life.
“Honey!” my mom called, her voice cracking as she tried to form the words.
“You don’t have to be sorry,” I said harshly already knowing what she wants to say. “It’s a done deal.” I glanced at my father, but his face was blank, his eyes avoiding mine. Numbly, I followed the guard out of the room.
“You sold your only child for money. Fear my return,” I said through gritted teeth, before turning on my heel and walking out the door. I tried to project confidence, but my heart was racing. I was leaving behind everything I had ever known, without any idea of what awaited me.
I climbed into the car, my luggage already stowed in the trunk by the driver. I couldn’t get away from this place fast enough. This house had once been my home, but now it was nothing more than a graveyard for my shattered dream.
“Roselyn, you did this to yourself. You should have never gotten involved in this mess in the first place.” My mother’s voice was rising in anger, but it was the next sentence that really caught my attention. ‘If only you had let me tell her,’ she said, her tone full of regret. I couldn’t help but wonder what they were hiding from me. What was the secret that they were so desperate to keep from me?”
"Ma? Are you here?” A voice called out, sharp and urgent. It was enough to break me out of my thoughts and bring me back to the present moment.
"I've been calling your name for A while now,” the driver said, a hint of annoyance in his voice. “Should I just leave?” I nodded, my mind racing with unanswered questions. I knew I had to get to the bottom of this, no matter what it took.
In a small voice, I asked, ‘How far is Ryan’s house?’ Just saying his name sent a shiver down my spine. The rumors I’d heard about him were enough to make even the strongest person quake with fear. He was the stuff of nightmares, a symbol of violence and brutality.
The thought of becoming his wife, or rather his puppet, sent a wave of nausea through me. A puppet was the perfect word for it, because from the rumors I'd heard, he treated women as nothing more than toys to be played with and discarded at will. I knew I had to escape, but how?.
The driver’s voice cut through the silence, startling me. ‘It’s just a few kilometers away,’ he said, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Fear was creeping into my bones, making it hard to catch my breath.
The driver’s voice was full of concern. ‘Ma’am, you look uncomfortable. Are you okay?’ he asked, his gaze fixed on me in the rearview mirror. I sat frozen, unable to speak, my mind racing with fear and uncertainty.
The driver’s words were meant to be reassuring, but they only made me more fearful. ‘Don’t worry, ma’am. My boss is nothing to worry about, as long as you’re careful not to offend him. He doesn’t take kindly to anyone who does,’ he said, his voice dropping to a whisper. I shivered, not sure whether I should be more afraid of my mysterious husband or the man who was driving me to him.
The silence in the car was deafening, but my curiosity was burning too strongly to remain quiet. ‘How do they pay?’, I blurted out, my heart racing as I waited for his reply. A long moment passed, and then the driver turned to me, his eyes dark and unreadable.
I heard a shiver in the driver’s voice, and my heart skipped a beat. ‘They get beheaded,’ he whispered, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. ‘His most loyal and trusted staff, people he loved like family. Over the smallest of issues, too.’ His words filled me with terror, and I struggled to catch my breath.
‘Beheaded?’ I asked, my voice shaking with shock. He nodded gravely, his eyes fixed on the road. 'Is it impossible to cope with such a thing?’, I asked, my mind reeling with the horrifying possibilities.
The car slowed to a stop, and I heard the driver’s voice in the silence. ‘We’re here, ma’am,’ he said, his voice barely above a whisper. I sat frozen in my seat, my mind a jumble of thoughts and emotions. I wasn’t sure if I could get out of the car, let alone face whatever awaited me beyond the door.
As I gazed at the gate, my worries began to melt away. I was mesmerized by its grandeur, the intricate carvings unlike anything I had ever seen before. The gate was a work of art, a masterpiece of craftsmanship. It was unlike anything I could have imagined, a portal to a world of luxury and splendor.
The gate opened slowly, and I saw an elderly man standing there, his eyes twinkling with amusement. ‘Welcome back,' he said, his voice warm and gentle. ‘The boss has been awaiting your return. He’s been wondering what kept you so long,’ he added, turning to the driver. I noticed a flicker of fear in the driver’s eyes, a look that seemed out of place in the calm, peaceful scene before me.
I could sense the driver’s unease, and I realized that something was wrong. But the gateman seemed to notice my concern, and he smiled reassuringly. ‘Don’t worry, miss. You’re not in any trouble,’ he said, his voice smooth and gentle. The driver nodded, his expression still tense, and he led me up the driveway to the imposing building that loomed before us.
As we passed through the grand hallway, I noticed a line of servants, their eyes following us as we walked by. The gateman leaned in close, his lips barely moving as he whispered, ‘I’ll leave you now.’ My heart pounded in my chest, and I longed to call out to him, to beg him to stay with me. But the words died on my lips, and I watched helplessly as he disappeared down the hall.
I stood frozen in the middle of the living room, my mind racing with questions. Where should I go? What should I do? I felt completely lost, like a ship adrift in a vast and endless sea. The silence of the room only added to my sense of disorientation. I could hear my own heartbeat, the sound echoing through the vast expanse of the living room.
“Hi!” I heard, I took a deep breath and slowly turned around, my eyes widening as they landed on a familiar face. My heart stopped for a moment, as if frozen in time. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was like a dream, but I knew it was all too real. There, standing before me, was the one person I had never expected to see again.
My heart skipped a beat. I had to get out of there, but I was frozen in terror. I felt my earring slip from my ear, the clatter of it hitting the ground echoing in the stillness of the night. “No!” I gasped, my eyes wide with fear.I’d never imagined such a scenario could unfold, but there I was, hiding behind a tree and straining to hear every sound. The last thing I expected was for the jingle of my earring to catch their attention, but when I heard a sharp intake of breath, I knew I’d been caught. My heart was racing, and my stomach churned with dread. What would happen next?“Did you hear that?” The man who seemed to be their leader sniffed the air, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. His head turned toward my hiding place, and my heart skipped a beat. Would I be found out?“I heard it too,” said one of the men, pointing to the bush where I was hiding. My heart leaped into my throat and I didn’t know whether to run, scream, or stay frozen where I was. My body was shaking, my b
Lilian Pov.....Just as I was about to reach the door, I heard the sound of a floorboard creaking beneath my feet. I froze, holding my breath and praying that I hadn't been heard. But it was too late. A deep, rumbling voice came from behind me.As I turned, my heart pounded with the force of a thousand drums, and my breath caught in my throat. There, standing before me, was none other than Ryan, his piercing gaze boring into me. I stood frozen, unable to find the words to reply. What had I done to deserve this? I racked my brain for an explanation, but came up empty. All I could do was stare back, wide-eyed and terrified. My words seemed to hang in the air, suspended in the tension between us. Ryan's eyes narrowed, and I could feel the weight of his gaze like a physical force. "You had no right to come here. You could have been hurt. I told you to stay downstairs." His voice was like a whip, cutting through the silence with brutal efficiency. I flinched, my body trembling under the we
Lilian Pov……“What is going on?” I demanded, looking at Ryan’s face, which was twisted with fury. “How dare he ruin our function?” were the last words I heard before he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the window. As we approached it, I felt something hard and cold press against my back.I struggled to find words, but before I could speak, I was already floating in the air. I felt dizzy and disoriented, and my heart raced as I tried to make sense of what was happening. Why did Ryan save me? We had always hated each other. I didn’t understand why he would risk his life for me. As I drifted higher and higher, my mind whirled with unanswered questions.“Just take the bag off when you get close to the ground,” I heard his voice through the commotion.“But what about you?” I asked, looking at him with concern. “What if you get hurt?”“Don’t worry about me,” he replied with a strange mix of confidence and sadness in his voice. “You have to get out of here, and I’ll be fine.”I hesitate
Lilian Pov….Something had shifted inside of me – a sudden rush of confidence that I couldn’t explain. Now I knew that I wasn’t the only one who could be ordered around, and I was determined to show him that he wasn’t as powerful as he thought. I had a plan, and as soon as my hands touched that box, he would be finished. It was only the beginning of my revenge, and I could hardly wait to see the look on his face when he realized that his power was gone. The scowl on his face had been replaced by a sickly-sweet smile, and I knew immediately what he was up to. He was trying to play nice for the cameras, hoping to score some points with the press. I had to hand it to him – he was a master manipulator, and he knew exactly how to work the crowd.“I think you’ve got quite the catch, Mr. Ryan,” a guy said, a smile playing on his lips. “Your wife is beautiful, and I’m sure you’re lucky to have her. Although, if I had met her first, I might have been the one to win her over!Really? I think yo
Ryan Pov.....As I helped her into the car, I noticed how damp her hands were. She had been visibly nervous for a while, and I couldn't figure out why."We're going to have to act like we're in love," I whispered in her ear. "I know it's not ideal, but it's the only way to keep us safe. If anyone suspects anything, it could be very dangerous for us."She nodded, her eyes wide with fear. I could tell she was struggling to process everything that was happening. "I understand," she said quietly."You're not finished telling me about the mark on your breast. I know there's more to the story, and I want to hear the whole thing.""When I was taken, my captor was a cruel and heartless man. He marked my chest with a burning piece of wood," she said, her voice shaking as she spoke. I studied her for a moment, trying to decide if I believed her story. It sounded far-fetched, but something in her eyes made me think she might be telling the truth."Are you sure, Olivia?" I try to act tough to see
Lilian Pov….“I’m so sorry for the delay,” the makeup artist said as we walked down the highway towards my room. “I got caught up in traffic and I didn’t want to keep you waiting.”I nodded, but my mind was elsewhere. I was thinking about the box I’d seen in Ryan’s room, the box that seemed to hold some sort of power over him. If I could get my hands on that box, I could finally set things right. I could make him pay for what he’d done. The makeup artist continued to apologize, but I barely heard her words. My focus was fixed.I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that box again. It had been so long since I’d last seen it, and I never thought I would get the chance to hold it in my hands again. But here it was, and it felt like a gift from the universe. It was almost as if the box itself had been waiting for me to find it. I smiled to myself, a feeling of excitement and satisfaction bubbling up inside me. I knew this was going to make everything easier. My revenge would finally be in
Lilian Pov….I felt his hands on my waist, pulling me close. “What are you doing here, Olivia?” he asked, his voice smooth and calm. It was a stark contrast to the demanding, gruff voice I was used to hearing from him. I wondered how Olivia had managed to get past his defense.“I didn’t mean to intrude,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I swallowed hard, my eyes involuntarily drawn to his bare chest. He was the most attractive man I had ever laid eyes on, and the thought of what could have happened if he hadn’t stopped me sent a jolt of electricity through my body. I had to push those thoughts away. I couldn’t let myself go there.I could feel his body tensing up and his muscles stiffening as he pulled me closer. The air around us seemed to crackle with energy, and I felt like I was being pulled into a vortex of desire. It was as if every fiber of my being was being pulled towards him, and I struggled to resist. I knew I shouldn’t be feeling this way, but I couldn’t help it.I
Author Pov…As she fall off the cliff, her eyes closed tightly against the wind, she knew that death was imminent. She had given up on the hope of survival, resigned to the idea that her fate was sealed. The fall seemed to last an eternity, the air rushing past her as she plummeted towards the ground below.Lilian Pov….A loud bang on the door made me jolt awake, my heart pounding in my chest. Who could possibly be banging on my door at this hour? I rubbed my eyes and glanced at the clock. 12:00pm? How could I have slept that long? The banging started again, this time even louder. I scrambled to the door and called out, “Who’s there?” I slowly turned the doorknob and peered through the crack.“You foolish woman!” he yelled, his voice reverberating through the walls. “How dare you sleep this late?”I seethed silently as I yanked the door open, coming face to face with the source of my ire. He glared at me with rage in his eyes. “Don’t you know how long I’ve been knocking?” he demanded,
Olivia pov…..With a jolt, I opened my eyes, instantly regretting it as a sharp pain shot through my head. My hand instinctively went to my temple, trying to soothe the throbbing. Had I banged my head against something? Or had I been attacked while I was sleeping? As the fog in my mind lifted, I took in the room around me. But as my eyes focused, I began to wonder what the hell I was doing here. Then it all came rushing back – the events of the day before, and the reason I’d found myself in this strange room.My thoughts began to race as I recalled the last thing I’d heard before blacking out – the guard in the dark room had mentioned a “new home”. Was this what he meant? Or was I simply grasping at straws? The room was so small, and the door was locked from the outside. I could only conclude that I must have been drugged, and then brought here. The wine, that was it. That’s what must have knocked me out.“Where am I?” I screamed, panic gripping me as I realized that I was trapped. “I
