Ryan Pov….
I watched her, captivated by the realization that she was afraid. Her eyes darted to the floor, like a mouse being chased by a hungry cat. The fear was palpable in the room, and I could almost feel the tension in her body as she struggled to stay calm.
“You’re the one?” I stammered, reaching out to her. She stood pale and shaky, her eyes fixed on me with a look that demanded an explanation. She was emotionless, but there was an intensity in her gaze that shook me to my core.
She was the last person I expected to see. I didn’t know if she would save me or destroy me, but I knew I couldn’t let her know how I felt. The best way to hide my feelings was to avoid her at all costs. She thought I was indifferent to her, but from now on I would be twice as distant. With a steely gaze, I pulled my hands away from her trembling shoulders and stepped back.
“Just go, Oliver,” I said, my voice cold and distant. I didn’t want to answer the thousand questions swirling in her mind. I watched her give me a quick, sorrowful glance, then she bowed her head and left the room. The silence that followed was deafening, and I felt a weight lift from my shoulders. Now I could finally think clearly.
I never imagined I would be in this situation. Now I was trapped in a house with a woman who could either kill me or set me free, and I had no idea what she would do once she learned the truth about me. My thoughts raced as I tried to figure out a way out of this mess, but the more I thought about it, the more hopeless it all seemed. I felt like I was spiraling out of control, and I didn’t know how to stop it.
As I drifted off to sleep, a storm of questions swirled in my mind, keeping me awake. I tossed and turned, my thoughts racing, as I tried to make sense of everything that had happened. I felt like I was on a roller coaster, hurtling towards an unknown destination, with no idea how to get off. I finally gave in to exhaustion and closed my eyes, but the questions continued to plague me even in my dreams.
Oliver pov…
I forced my heavy legs to carry me to the room of the maid who had saved me from embarrassment earlier. I rapped on the door, hoping she would answer quickly. My heart was pounding in my chest as I waited for her to open the door.
“Come in!” Her voice was gentle and inviting, and I couldn’t resist her offer. I opened the door and stepped into the cozy room. She looked at me with concern in her eyes, and I knew she could sense something was wrong.
“Are you okay?” she asked, and for a moment, I was at a loss for words. I stood there, my mind racing, trying to find the right words to explain what I was feeling.
“I’m okay, I just need a little rest and something to eat,” I said weakly, my voice barely a whisper. I sank down onto the soft bed, my body suddenly feeling heavy and exhausted. I could feel my stomach rumbling with hunger, and I knew I needed to eat something soon. I looked up at the maid, hoping she would understand. “I’m starving,” I added, trying to muster a smile.
“What would you like to eat?” she asked, her voice calm and reassuring.
“Spring rolls and Coca-Cola, please,” I replied, my voice still weak. I sank back onto the pillow, exhausted from the events of the day. I could hear her footsteps as she left the room, and I closed my eyes, hoping to get some much-needed rest.
As the door clicked shut behind her, I was left alone with my thoughts. My mind replayed the events of the last few minutes, and I couldn’t help but wonder what had just happened. The fear in his eyes had been unmistakable, and his questioning had been so strange. Why was he so bothered by me touching the box? It was all so fishy, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this than met the eye.
I tried to relax, but my mind was racing, trying to piece together the puzzle. What was he hiding? Why was he so afraid?
“Here’s your order,” Molly said, gently setting the tray of snacks next to me as she shut the door. She returned to her desk, which was where she had been when I first entered the room.
“Thanks,” I mumbled, my voice weak and shaky. I forced myself to sit up, my body aching and my mind racing.
“You’re going to be okay,” she said reassuringly, her sweet smile warming my heart. “I’m sure you’ll feel much better after you’ve eaten.”
I nodded, still feeling uncertain but appreciating her kindness. Her smile seemed so genuine, and I found myself wanting to trust her.
With a sigh of resignation, I turned to the snack tray and grabbed a spring roll. I bit into it, savoring the combination of crisp dough and spicy filling. As I chewed, the taste exploded in my mouth, and I could feel the spices running down my chin. I grabbed a napkin and wiped my face, but the flavor lingered. I picked up my drink and took a sip, the sweet, fizzy liquid cutting through the heat of the spices. “This is amazing,” I muttered, unable to hide my delight. I hoped the food would never end, that I could stay here in this moment forever.
“Please, take as much as you need. I know this must be a difficult time for you, and I want to make sure you’re comfortable,” she said in a soothing tone. Her words were kind, and I felt a rush of gratitude. I nodded again, taking another sip of my drink.
“I feel much better,” I said, relief washing over me. “If I need anything else, I’ll be sure to let you know. And I really do appreciate all you’ve done. It means a lot to me.” I leaned back in my chair, savoring the cool breeze from the air conditioner as it dried the sweat on my skin.
“”Do you ever have any challenges with your husband?” she asked, her words piercing the silence. I looked up at her, unsure of how to respond. I wasn’t used to opening up to people, especially strangers. But something about her made me feel safe, and I knew that now was the time to be honest. I took a deep breath, bracing myself for what I was about to say.
I returned her gaze, my eyes searching for the right words to describe the turmoil I felt. “I think he’s determined to make my life miserable,” I said, the anger and frustration rising up inside me.
“It’s like he hates me for no reason at all, and I can’t stand being around him anymore. Can you believe he was grilling me with questions earlier today? It was like an interrogation!” I ranted, my words coming out in a rush. But something about her expression made me pause, and I saw the concern in her eyes.
“What was he asking you? What happened?” Her voice was sharp, demanding an answer. But I was suddenly calm, ready to finally tell someone the truth.
“Do you think he’s hiding something?” I asked, my voice thick with curiosity.
“I don’t know, Oliver, but is there anything you’ve noticed that’s different about him?” She scooted closer and took my hand, her touch reassuring.
“I want you to know that you can trust me, and that anything you tell me will stay between us,” I said, my eyes fixed on hers.
“You have my word, Oliver. You can trust me. Tell me what’s going on.” Her voice was full of concern, and I felt myself relax a little bit. But as I opened my mouth to speak, I suddenly felt a strange force holding my tongue. It was as if I was being physically prevented from speaking. I’d never experienced anything like it before, and a wave of panic washed over me.
“What is it, Oliver? You were about to say something, but then you just stopped. Are you okay?” she asked, her brow furrowed with worry.
“I need to clear my head. I don’t want to talk about this right now,” I said, getting to my feet and heading for the door. I could feel the weight of her gaze on me, but I didn’t turn around. I just needed to get out of there, to figure out what was going on. I had a feeling that something strange was happening, and I needed to figure it out before it was too late.
My heart skipped a beat. I had to get out of there, but I was frozen in terror. I felt my earring slip from my ear, the clatter of it hitting the ground echoing in the stillness of the night. “No!” I gasped, my eyes wide with fear.I’d never imagined such a scenario could unfold, but there I was, hiding behind a tree and straining to hear every sound. The last thing I expected was for the jingle of my earring to catch their attention, but when I heard a sharp intake of breath, I knew I’d been caught. My heart was racing, and my stomach churned with dread. What would happen next?“Did you hear that?” The man who seemed to be their leader sniffed the air, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. His head turned toward my hiding place, and my heart skipped a beat. Would I be found out?“I heard it too,” said one of the men, pointing to the bush where I was hiding. My heart leaped into my throat and I didn’t know whether to run, scream, or stay frozen where I was. My body was shaking, my b
Lilian Pov.....Just as I was about to reach the door, I heard the sound of a floorboard creaking beneath my feet. I froze, holding my breath and praying that I hadn't been heard. But it was too late. A deep, rumbling voice came from behind me.As I turned, my heart pounded with the force of a thousand drums, and my breath caught in my throat. There, standing before me, was none other than Ryan, his piercing gaze boring into me. I stood frozen, unable to find the words to reply. What had I done to deserve this? I racked my brain for an explanation, but came up empty. All I could do was stare back, wide-eyed and terrified. My words seemed to hang in the air, suspended in the tension between us. Ryan's eyes narrowed, and I could feel the weight of his gaze like a physical force. "You had no right to come here. You could have been hurt. I told you to stay downstairs." His voice was like a whip, cutting through the silence with brutal efficiency. I flinched, my body trembling under the we
Lilian Pov……“What is going on?” I demanded, looking at Ryan’s face, which was twisted with fury. “How dare he ruin our function?” were the last words I heard before he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the window. As we approached it, I felt something hard and cold press against my back.I struggled to find words, but before I could speak, I was already floating in the air. I felt dizzy and disoriented, and my heart raced as I tried to make sense of what was happening. Why did Ryan save me? We had always hated each other. I didn’t understand why he would risk his life for me. As I drifted higher and higher, my mind whirled with unanswered questions.“Just take the bag off when you get close to the ground,” I heard his voice through the commotion.“But what about you?” I asked, looking at him with concern. “What if you get hurt?”“Don’t worry about me,” he replied with a strange mix of confidence and sadness in his voice. “You have to get out of here, and I’ll be fine.”I hesitate
Lilian Pov….Something had shifted inside of me – a sudden rush of confidence that I couldn’t explain. Now I knew that I wasn’t the only one who could be ordered around, and I was determined to show him that he wasn’t as powerful as he thought. I had a plan, and as soon as my hands touched that box, he would be finished. It was only the beginning of my revenge, and I could hardly wait to see the look on his face when he realized that his power was gone. The scowl on his face had been replaced by a sickly-sweet smile, and I knew immediately what he was up to. He was trying to play nice for the cameras, hoping to score some points with the press. I had to hand it to him – he was a master manipulator, and he knew exactly how to work the crowd.“I think you’ve got quite the catch, Mr. Ryan,” a guy said, a smile playing on his lips. “Your wife is beautiful, and I’m sure you’re lucky to have her. Although, if I had met her first, I might have been the one to win her over!Really? I think yo
Ryan Pov.....As I helped her into the car, I noticed how damp her hands were. She had been visibly nervous for a while, and I couldn't figure out why."We're going to have to act like we're in love," I whispered in her ear. "I know it's not ideal, but it's the only way to keep us safe. If anyone suspects anything, it could be very dangerous for us."She nodded, her eyes wide with fear. I could tell she was struggling to process everything that was happening. "I understand," she said quietly."You're not finished telling me about the mark on your breast. I know there's more to the story, and I want to hear the whole thing.""When I was taken, my captor was a cruel and heartless man. He marked my chest with a burning piece of wood," she said, her voice shaking as she spoke. I studied her for a moment, trying to decide if I believed her story. It sounded far-fetched, but something in her eyes made me think she might be telling the truth."Are you sure, Olivia?" I try to act tough to see
Lilian Pov….“I’m so sorry for the delay,” the makeup artist said as we walked down the highway towards my room. “I got caught up in traffic and I didn’t want to keep you waiting.”I nodded, but my mind was elsewhere. I was thinking about the box I’d seen in Ryan’s room, the box that seemed to hold some sort of power over him. If I could get my hands on that box, I could finally set things right. I could make him pay for what he’d done. The makeup artist continued to apologize, but I barely heard her words. My focus was fixed.I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that box again. It had been so long since I’d last seen it, and I never thought I would get the chance to hold it in my hands again. But here it was, and it felt like a gift from the universe. It was almost as if the box itself had been waiting for me to find it. I smiled to myself, a feeling of excitement and satisfaction bubbling up inside me. I knew this was going to make everything easier. My revenge would finally be in
