    Three days later, Elena still hadn't woken up. The operation had been successful but she had to be put in a medically induced coma because she had lost a lot of blood and was still in the red zone. if they had brought her in any later, it would have been too late to save her thankfully the bullet didn't hit any vital spot and she had been sagacious enough to put pressure on the wound which helped a lot. Jake hadn't left her side since she was brought into the private room he got for her, he had only left to take bathroom breaks when necessary and had ignored mike's plea for him to go home for a few hours at least instead he had made the guy bring clean shirts for him. 

He had been sleeping on a makeshift bed which wasn't comfortable but he didn't complain, he couldn't. he was supposed to be on that bed or worse in the morgue and this was the only way he shed a little bit of his guilt, he was going to watch over her and make sure she was okay.

    ASHLEY My eyes flicked open to see Jake looming over me with a frantic look on his face. Someone was screaming near and I looked around but didn't find anyone. " Elena, calm down. It's okay now, it was just a nightmare." He sat on the bed next to me and held me, making sure he didn't come in contact with my injured side. The screams finally stopped and my breath was coming out in short and harsh. I realized then that it was me who was screaming from the throbbing in my throat. I had taken something close to a bath earlier as most of my weight had to be placed on my right foot and I had to be careful not to get my left injured side wet.
