The valleys deepened, the incomprehensible depths were black and terrifying, the mountains higher. Now the rock giants have made the peaks around Russvik look like hills that don't deserve to be called mountains. The mountains that ran between them were like walls built by the gods to ward off demons, and they were truly huge. Their size was astounding. Locked in place with lightning speed, they raced across long, dark valleys filled with debris and glaciers that glistened like frozen rivers. The shadow of the speeding aircraft fell over the frozen lake and disappeared into the clouds below the high cliffs. He could remember little of her trying him. It was a seemingly endless nightmare of violence and death in which every weakness in his psyche had been examined and exposed.
