RYTHAN BLACKTHONE (Wolf: Razhan)

But I was too tired to speak. I didn't have the strength to say anything, let alone defend myself. There wasn't anything left to defend anyway.

"I don't want to talk about it," I said, pushing myself to my feet, ready to leave the office.

He rushed forward and blocked the doorway before I could get past him. "Why are you two refusing to say anything?" He threw his hands up in frustration. "Sit down, Rythan. We need to talk." His voice left no room for argument.

CELINEI turned and started heading back into the company, pretending I hadn't seen her at all."Hey... Celine," she called out.Probably wanted help carrying her boxes. I pretended not to see or hear her anyway, hurrying back into the building. Why should I help her? She could deal with her own boxes.I went and sat at my desk when a message from Chloe popped up on my phone.‘Chloe: I'm on my way to the house.’I quickly typed back.‘Me: Just redirect to the Blackthorne company.’‘Chloe: Can't wait to see you.’Casey's warning about Chloe echoed in my mind. Should I really push my childhood best friend away over something my wolf had said, with no proof behind it?That would be ridiculous. Chloe had never once given me a real reason to doubt our friendship. Then Cassandra walked into the building, carrying a stack of small boxes, one of the employees who'd stepped outside earlier trailing behind her with the rest. She dropped them onto the front desk, resting her hands on her waist,

CELINEI watched him quickly compose himself. "Sorry about that," he apologized immediately.I nodded. "Yes. I answered the call."Zithan looked at me. "Hey..." He tried to call for my attention, but my focus was already locked on Rythan.I could see how uncomfortable he was under my gaze, the way he kept avoiding eye contact. I guessed he was embarrassed about how he'd reacted a second ago.I turned to look at Zithan instead. "When she called, I picked up, and the first thing she said was—" I tried to mimic Deilala's voice. "'Rythan, I've already chosen—'"Rythan finally raised his gaze and burst into laughter — strangely, none of it sounded genuine. It came a half-second too late, like he'd needed the extra beat to decide how to react."She really said that?" he asked.I nodded, brows furrowing in confusion, glancing briefly at Zithan, who clearly didn't find any of it funny either. If anything, his jaw had gone tight."Yes," I said."Deilala can be funny sometimes. Her husband's bi

CELINE That felt better than I expected it to. Why she was so surprised, honestly, wasn't my problem. I was glad I'd told her — glad her own husband got to hear exactly why she was calling another man in the first place. Well. I decided right then that I'd start doing my own introductions from now on, since my so-called mates kept using my own request against me — the one where I'd asked them not to announce it at the office specifically. That request had never extended beyond company walls. So why couldn't they at least tell their own friends the truth about who I was to them? Why were they hiding me this hard, this consistently, like I was something to be embarrassed about rather than proud of? Just then, Rythan's phone started ringing again. I turned the screen and saw Deilala's name lighting it up once more. Why was she calling again? I ignored the call and stood up. I was already full anyway. I grabbed my bag and my own phone, along with his, and headed for the doo

CELINE"Why does she even want to see me?" I said, and turned my attention back to my food. That girl was a cunning snake. She couldn't be trusted — genuinely one of the people I despised most, right up there with Cassandra."Hey, did you have a fight with someone at work?" my father chimed in, looking at me.Zithan nodded. "She's our PA at work. She tried to get Celine fired, and ended up getting fired herself instead, by Kythan," he explained."She must be a troublemaker then," my father said, then turned to me. "If she is really remorseful about her actions, just forgive her and move on.""Forgive? Father, she nearly hit me, and mocked me for being an errand girl," I said, dropping my fork and raising my gaze. That's just how he is. Quick to forgive, even when he's the one who's been hurt the most deeply. Maybe if my own mother showed up here one day, tears in her eyes, begging for forgiveness, would he cave too? I glanced briefly toward Queen Uria.Well. Only time would tell."Whe

CELINE (Wolf: Casey)I woke up with a pounding headache the next morning. My eyes wandered around my room, landing on nothing in particular."Fuck," I hissed, hands still pressed against my forehead.Yesterday had been an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. I honestly couldn't shake the fear still sitting in my chest, and I was grateful my father had been there to help me through it.Lan lurking around — what the hell did he even want from me?‘Mate.’ That word he'd scrawled across that note surfaced in my mind again, unwelcome.I just hoped he'd be caught soon, so I could finally breathe without checking over my shoulder every five minutes.I dragged myself out of bed and went to take a quick shower. As the water washed down over my head, another thought crawled back in, unbidden. The way I'd reached for Kythan, and how smoothly, effortlessly, he'd pushed my hand away instead. He was at it again.I tried to brush it off.I didn't know anymore. I was just tired. At this poin

KYTHAN BLACKTHORNE (Wolf: Vexan)"What the hell is going on here?" I asked, stepping closer.Zithan stood his ground, holding Rythan's phone up out of reach while Rythan tried everything possible to wrestle it back out of his grip."Give it back," Rythan demanded, fury written across every inch of his face."I dare you," Zithan retorted, sending him a hard glare, daring him to try. These two were practically inseparable most days. Sure, they had their differences here and there, but I'd rarely ever seen either of them square up like this. And the disgust twisting Zithan's face told me this wasn't some small disagreement.‘Wait. Does this have anything to do with what he told me a few minutes ago through the mind-link?’"Zithan, what happened?" I asked, turning my full attention to him.He didn't answer. He just held Rythan's phone out toward me instead. Rythan made another grab for it, but one hard glare from me had him thinking twice and pulling back.I took the phone and tried Face

CELINE The moment I was finally outside that house, everything hit me at once. My knees nearly buckled. I grabbed the gate post to steady myself and then the first sob tore out of me, ugly and uncontrolled, and once it started I couldn't stop it. My shoulders shook violently. I pressed my

CELINE "Damn! Your stepsister's got a fat ass!" Doland spanked me hard, tossing me a shameless wink. I scoffed, disgust curling through me like. This wasn't the first time he had put his hands on me. I spun around, ready to say something he wouldn't forget in a hurry. I stormed towards him,

CELINE I stood at the top of the stairs and stared at the empty corridor where the cold-eyed man had just been. The warmth I remembered from this morning was completely gone. Stripped away as if it had never existed. Those familiar features, same dark hair, same jaw, same mouth — had looked at m
