My heart ached the moment I saw both Katarina and Lucas recognize and accept the bond between them. It was a totally different scene from how the bond started for me and Alexa, and I couldn’t help but feel the pain of hurting my own mate.

I wish the circumstances were different. I wish our first meeting had been somehow similar to this. I hope the tears she shed were of happiness and not out of fear. But I couldn’t change anything now, and if it had to happen again, I would still do the same thing, just to save her from my father’s hands.

I slipped out of the receiving room without making any noise to leave the new couple alone. I was happy for them. And if Lucas decided to mark her tonight, I had no say in it. I had to think of another way to make my plan work in my favor.
