The silence inside the car was worse than the cold. It was heavy with everything I’d left behind in Kraków the smell of hospital disinfectant, the quiet horror of an empty apartment, the sheer, crushing reality that everyone I loved was gone. I was driving toward a ghost because I had nothing left to lose.

There were no tail lights ahead of me. No headlights in the rearview mirror. Just the rhythm of tires crunching over packed ice and the gale screaming against the glass.

Then, the trees gave way.

An iron perimeter cut through the dark forest like a jagged scar. Wires hummed under a crust of ice, and massive steel gates blocked the road. I slammed the brakes. The car skidded, fishtailing into the slush before jerking to a halt.

Before I could turn off the key, blinding spotlights snapped on along the fence. White light flooded the cabin. The heavy clunk of hydraulic locks echoed over the storm, and three black SUVs rolled out into the snow, trapping my little car in a neat, ruthless semicircle.

Doors slammed. Men in winter camo stepped into the snow, short-barreled rifles held ready.

From the lead vehicle, a tall man stepped out. He moved slowly, like a wolf that knew the sheep had nowhere left to run. He pulled down his mask, exposing a sharp face covered in frost.

Radosław Dąbrowski.

He tapped the barrel of his gun against my driver-side window. The sound echoed inside my skull.

"Step out, Sienna," Radek called out, his voice cutting through the roar of the gale. "You’re a long way from home."

My heart hammered against my ribs, hard and wild. I forced my breathing to slow down. I couldn't let him see me shake. I couldn't give him that. I pushed the door open, and the freezing air hit me like a physical punch, knocking the breath straight out of my lungs.

"Radek," I managed, my voice raspy from hours of silence. "You went to a lot of trouble to build a wall out here. Scared someone might come looking for what you stole?"

He didn't blink. He just walked closer, his heavy boots crushing the frozen slush, until he was standing right over me. Up close, his eyes were totally empty. There was no anger in them. Just nothing.

"Kraków was a mistake," he said softly, his breath clouding in the freezing air. "Coming here is yours. Grief makes people stupid, Sienna."

He snapped his fingers. Two guards grabbed my arms. I fought them—kicking, twisting, straining against their grip—but they dragged me back against the warm hood of Radek’s vehicle. One of them ripped my coat off, plunging me into the bitter cold, while the other snatched my bag and my phone.

Radek grabbed my jaw, his gloves rough against my frozen skin, forcing my face up toward the harsh spotlight glare.

"Where is it?" he asked softly. "The drive you took from the safehouse."

"Go to hell," I spat, ice stinging my lips.

"You're already there," he replied. He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "Look around you, Sienna. No one knows you're here. No one is coming. If you die in these mountains, the snow will swallow you whole, and by spring, there won't even be bones left."

He let go of my jaw and stepped back, signaling to his men. The two guards dragged me toward the massive iron gates as the hydraulic locks groaned open. Beyond the barrier lay a deep, pitch-black ravine—a path leading down into the dark, frozen belly of the mountain.

"Take her to the lower cell," Radek ordered, turning his back on me. "Strip the car. Burn whatever is left."

"Wait!" I choked out, my voice swallowed by the howling wind. "Radek, look at me!"

He paused, glancing over his shoulder with cold detachment.

I swallowed the blood pooling in my mouth from a split lip, staring right into the eyes of the man who had torn my life to pieces.

"You think I came here for revenge?" I whispered, a terrible, desperate laugh rising in my throat. I reached deep into my thermal vest, my frozen fingers wrapping around the small, metallic trigger device I had wired directly to the Skoda's fuel tank. "I didn't come here to survive, Radek. I came to make sure you didn't either."

Radek's eyes went wide the first crack in his stone mask as I slammed my thumb down on the button.

mountain wind hit my face like a slap the second my boots sank into the snow.Radek didn't offer a greeting, and he certainly didn't offer a hand. He just jerked his jaw toward the rear of a massive armored transport idling inside the gate, its exhaust churning gray clouds into the whiteout."Keys on the roof. Step away," he ordered. His voice was flat, gravelly, and stripped of anything remotely human."I’m Dr. Vance," I said, my teeth wanting to chatter as the icy draft stung my raw skin. I forced myself to stand tall, burying the tremor in my chest. "Jaxson Cole’s board-appointed lead specialist.""I know who you are," Radek cut in, not even looking me in the eye.He gestured to two guards who immediately swarmed my small Skoda. They didn't just check it; they ripped into it. I watched in silent horror as they pulled out the trunk carpet, tossing my personal belongings into the slush, before running heavy magnetic scanners along the undercarriage."Here, you’re just an unverified s

Then you had better pray he blames the brace, not the woman whose symbol is on it” he said and moved away from me. Don’t keep Mr Cole waiting…the private vehicle is waiting at the garage for you. After the board meeting,I sat at the massive conference seat, surrounded by stacks of legal binders, my fingers running through the contract paper Bronisław’s team had handed me. Every time I turned a page, a fresh wave of nausea hit my stomach. I was looking for a page where I could find a solution, something that could help me out of this situation. "There has to be something," I muttered, my voice very low,as I read through each paragraph on liability indemnification. "He can't just assign a licensed medical professional like that, that violates standard European athletic board regulations." Kaja stood near the door, her dark eyes tracking me as she ran a hand through her unequal blonde bob. "Sienna, I've been running the document through three different contract analysis algorithms

I stood helpless like a sheep sold out without any choice. He turned towards the door and left me with a sharp answer “you have no choice Sienna”Outside the glass, rain was beginning to streak across the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown Kraków. Below us, the city was in absolute rage, sport networks had been running non-stop coverage of Jaxson Cole’s catastrophic knee injury for the last twenty four hours straight. Every major news outlet was tearing through our corporate reputation, spreading the failure of Vance bio-mechanical brace like vultures picking over a fresh kill.I stood near the edge of the conference table, my arms crossed tightly over my chest, trying to warm the cold off me.Beside me, Kaja was tapping her foot on the plush carpet, her leather jacket creaking slightly with every tense movement.Around the thirty-foot table sat twelve board members, every single one of them dressed in dark, tailored suits, their faces pale and rigid. The room was so quiet.

I stared at the glowing text in the pitch-black stadium.Across the field, the emergency vehicle carted Jaxson Cole away, the sirens silent but the flashing red lights gave the only signal.Forty thousand people were still standing frozen in silence. The press vans had already surrounded the stadium gates outside, satellite dishes unfolded too. The whole stadium was so noisy, that my head became too heavy.I left with grief to the private telemetry lab, my hands were shaking so much ,I could barely input the door code.I walked into the room, kaja was in there. All I did was stare and think."If you keep staring at the floor like you're waiting for it to swallow you, Sienna, your spine is going to lock in place."kaja said.I flinched, snapping my head up.Kaja stood near the coffee stand in the corner, holding two oversized cups, steam curling into the chilly air. "Drink this," Kaja said, walking over and shoving one of the cups directly into my hand, "you look like a ghost that just g

I never knew what my eyes saw,Was it a dream or should I call a nightmare,I had always known something was off.I looked down again at the screen, as a secondary line of automated code executed itself right before my eyes:DIGITAL SIGNATURE VERIFIED: DR. SIENNA VANCE.ENCRYPTION KEY OVERRIDDEN.The warning on the diagnostic console pulsed like a fresh wound. My fingers hovered over the glass screen, i was completely confused.Someone was using my administrative clearance to breach Jaxson Cole’s profile, and the system was stamping my name into the audit log with every byte of my data stolen.“Sienna, what’s going on?” Kaja asked, her hands on the edge of the aluminum table she leaned on,her eyes widening as she read the red terminal prompt. “Is that… Cole’s pre-game telemetry? How do you even have access to their server?”“I don’t have access to Cole’s team server” I whispered as tears ran down my chin, my voice tight. “I’m not the one accessing it.”Before I could force a manual sy
