OWAIN LUTHER

I woke up with a headache, pounding like someone was smashing drums inside my skull.

I leaned back, my spine pressed against the couch I had crashed on last night. Not my finest glory. But sh*t happens.

Malcom was the first to descend the stairs, the morning sun slicing through the tall windows, spilling across his skin like a spotlight. The guy looked carved out of marble, too put together for a Friday morning. Is there even any day he even set aside to just chill out?

His eyes flicked toward me—then away—burying himself in his phone like a teenager hiding from trouble. Classic Malcom. Childish, but predictable.

He was still mad at me. I could smell it on him. Not as nuclear-hot as yesterday though, but still leveled. Well, there’s only one way to test the water.

“Don’t you think it’s weird we’ve got this huge house and just three rooms? I had to sleep on the damn couch last night,” I teased.

He didn’t even blink, just strolled to the dining table with that calm, expensi

KARIMA HEART"You don't have to be that way to your brother, Keisha,"Aaron finally said, his voice slow, almost like dragging the words out hurt him."Stop trying to twist it, Dad. You know exactly what I'm talking about. I can’t believe you’d go back on your word so soon. I can’t stay in the same house with Isaiah, Dad.""Can you at least respect the fact that we have guests watching? We’ll deal with this later. For now, come sit down and stop being stubborn."Aaron’s tone was calmer, but the ragged edge in his breathing gave away just how much it took him to stay that calm."Now you’re making this about me? Really?""Pops is right, Keisha. Just let’s have a peaceful reunion for now. We’ll deal with our sh*t later...""You—shut the hell up, Isaiah. Maybe being away for so long made you forget what manners are. So, I'll remind you. You don’t speak when adults are having a conversation. Understood?"Wow. Okay. So Isaiah is Keisha’s brother? That revelation landed harder than I expecte

  • SUBMISSIVE TO MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND    COCKY PLAYBOY ENTRANCE

MALCOM HEARTI stared at Keisha for more than a minute. Apart from the fact that this was purely a love confession and definitely wasn't my first time of a girl confessing love to me.I had tons of love letters back in the school days and maybe, if I'm not exaggerating, half of the girls in my department approached me to go on a date with them, which I turned all of them down.Hell, Owain never let me hear the end of it. He always said I was too straight-laced, too dense, like I could never recognize when a girl was interested in me, even if she threw at me all the kind of advances that could possibly be in this world. I'd still be clueless. So, yeah, I'm not surprised at myself if I had probably missed the hint that Keisha had any kind of romantic feelings for me.But, how on earth was that even possible? Let's say I agree that I'm kind of dense when it comes to love languages, but Keisha's was different. There hadn’t been even the slightest shift in the way she acted around me. She

  • SUBMISSIVE TO MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND    CONFESSION

KARIMA HEARTI stared hard at Malcom. It took me a long second to figure out what I wanted to confirm. And if there was even the smallest iota of truth in what I’d just heard, then Malcom had to be joking.I knew Malcom too well, and I trusted my instincts. He had just thrown out that reckless statement to pull Keisha out of the endless pit of back-and-forth with Aaron. But to me, it was a hopeless move.Keisha stiffened a smile, but Malcom cut in before she could get a word out, making her swallow back her words.“I’m sorry, Aaron. I’m sorry it took so long to tell you. I was…” He paused, taking what seemed like a steadying breath. “I was unsure about a lot of things,” he confessed. The way his voice carried, steady and sure, could have convinced anyone in that room, even me, for a moment. But then I noticed the way he held Keisha’s hand. Too careful. Almost too deliberately. That alone gave him away. How on earth did he plan to get out of this? Because right now, Aaron seemed convin

  • SUBMISSIVE TO MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND    HEAR IT RIGHT?

KARIMA HEARTI stepped out, pulling the door shut behind me way too gently, like if I slammed it even a little, it might snitch on the pounding in my chest or maybe scream out all of my secrets."Keisha," I muttered, trying for casual, but her smile looked like it was struggling to survive."Everyone’s set except you, Karima," she pouted.Oh, thank goodness. For a split second, I thought she saw Owain sneak out. My lungs actually started working again and one second of relief washed over me. Except—of course—I was wrong."Owain," she began, and just like that, my heart sank five feet down my stomach. Not that she was going to announce anything out loud, but still… Keisha being Malcom’s friend and staff member? Worst-case scenario unlocked."Yeah?" I feigned ignorance, like I didn’t already know exactly where she was headed."I know it’s not really my place to say this but—"Oh God! Just kill me already.Until... My perfect brother cut in."How many hours does it take you to pick a dre

  • SUBMISSIVE TO MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND    WERE WE CAUGHT

KARIMA HEARTHe chuckled low, pulling back from me only enough to snake his arm under my legs before lifting me clean off the bed like I weighed nothing."Where are we going?" I whispered, my ear pressed against his chest, his heartbeat thundering wild against me.His face dipped close, his grin darker, sharper, the exact one I’d come to know too well and used to already."To the perfect place for a quickie," he said."You better be fast, Owian. Everyone’s probably waiting for us already," I hissed as he set me down gently on the cold bathroom floor. The mirror across from us caught everything. The way my chest rose and fell, the flicker of nerves in my eyes, the raw hunger burning in his. I looked at myself and almost didn’t recognize the girl staring back: her lips parted, expression already wrecked with need.Owian stood behind me, his gaze locked on mine in the reflection, his hands clamping down around my waist, his other fingers tugging roughly at my button, pure hunger written

  • SUBMISSIVE TO MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND    QU*CK*E

KARIMA HEARTI was the first to escape into my room. Just one night... that’s all. We’d survive it. We’ve already stayed under the same roof for more than a week, so how different could it be?Oh, God!… I dragged a hand through my hair and dropped onto the bed, my chin up, staring at the ceiling... But this is different this time. There's no damn hiding place. No doors to shut between us. We’d all be stuck together, maybe faking smiles, forcing empty conversations... and on top of that, Pastor Aaron, Keisha’s father, was one of those relentless religious fanatics.Should I just take back my words?I pressed my palm over my face, trying to shut it all out... then I froze. I hadn’t even realized someone had slipped in until I felt it. A hand grazing up my lap down under my shirt.I knew that touch.Owain.I shot up like I’d been struck by lightning. My glare locked with his, hard, but then faltered when his face inched closer, too damn close. My breath hitched."Owain?" My voice came ou
