Aria p.o.v

I wasn't ready for the drastic change, but life was and didn't give a second thought when turning my life a 360 degree turn.

I was in my dorm room, reviewing the project I have to submit in a week time. When I received a phone call from my mother, her voice trembling with a mix of panic and urgency.

"Aria, dear, you need to come home immediately," she said, without even a hello.

I went into panic mode, my mom is a joyful soul and there are few these that could make her to panic.

I felt a shiver run down my spine at the possibility of what could be wrong.

Is Dad sick?

"What's happened, Mom?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"It's Sophia," she replied, her voice cracking. I frowned confused.

"What about her." Sophia is my elder sister, we are quite close to each other. She's easily my best friend since I could talk.

"She's gone."

I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Sophia, was supposed to get married tomorrow to Vaughn Slade, a wealthy and influential businessman.

What could have made her run away? I, too didn't want her to get married to a man like Vaughn, he's too much for her to handle. Sophia has always loved a peaceful and quiet life, and Vaughn lifestyle isn't anything peaceful nor quiet.

He today to today activities are being printed on the news, he's a business tycoon, a dangerous one. So it's normal for him.

"Where did she go?" I asked, even though I knew she didn't have the answer hence she has asked me.

"We don't know," my mother replied, her voice laced with worry. "She left a note saying she couldn't go through with the wedding, but that's all we know. Your father and I are frantic with worry."

I felt a surge of concern for my sister, mixed with a dash of fear. What would happen to our family now that Sophia had run away from her wedding?

If she didn't want the wedding, why did she agree in the first place? And how come she didn't talk to me about it.

"Is Dad okay?" I asked, knowing how much he had invested in this marriage.

"He's...well, he's not taking it well," my mother replied diplomatically. "You know how much he was counting on this marriage to secure our family's future."

I nodded, even though she couldn't see me. I knew exactly what she meant. Our family's financial situation had been precarious for years, and my father had seen Sophia's marriage to Vaughn Slade as a way to secure our future.

"I'll be right there, Mom," I said, already grabbing my bag and heading out the door.

As I rushed home, my mind was racing with questions. Where was Sophia? Why had she run away? And what would happen to our family now that she was gone?

I have tried calling her phone countless times but to no avail.

I couldn't shake the feeling that our lives were about to change in ways we couldn't even imagine.

The drive home seemed to take forever, my mind consumed by thoughts of Sophia and the impending doom that seemed to be hanging over our family.

When I finally arrived home, I was greeted by the sight of my mother pacing back and forth in the living room, her face etched with worry.

"Aria, thank goodness you're here," she said, rushing over to hug me tightly. "We need to talk about what's going to happen next."

I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation wash over me. What did the future hold for our family? And what role would I be expected to play in it?

As we sat down to discuss the details, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was about to take a dramatic turn – one that would change me forever.

My mother took a deep breath and began to explain the situation. "Aria, you know how much your father was counting on Sophia's marriage to Vaughn Slade. It was supposed to be a merger of sorts, a way to secure our family's future."

I nodded, feeling a sense of unease. I had always known that Sophia's marriage was more of a business arrangement than a romantic partnership.

Dad will surely have a set back in business because of this, a lot of person's wouldn't want to partner with him anymore in fear of Vaughn's wrath.

"But now that Sophia's run away, everything is at risk," my mother continued. "Your father is frantic, and I don't know what's going to happen."

I felt a surge of fear at the thought of our family's future hanging in the balance. On one hand, I was happy for Sophia as I stare at the note she left behind.

'I'm sorry but I can't marry him. If you're seeing this, I'm far gone and can't found, try to understand me. Love Mom and Dad.'

But I can't help but wonder what would happen to us if the marriage didn't go through?

I knew that I had to find out what had happened to Sophia, and why she had run away. But as I looked at my mother, I knew that I had to be careful.

As the day wore on, I found myself becoming more and more entangled in the web of secrets and lies that surrounded Sophia's disappearance. I knew that I had to be careful, but I was determined to uncover the truth.

Little did I know, my life was about to take a dramatic turn – one that would change me forever.

"ARIA'S POV""It's fine," I signaled to Vaughn who looked at me shockingly after what I had just said. This happened because of Sophia and I figured i should be the one answering the questions."I volunteered to marry Vaughn after my sister ran away days before their wedding day," I said."Did Mr Slade pressure you in any way or forcefully marry you against your will?" Chris asked."No, it was my decision, and getting married to him was the best decision of my life," I replied."Over to you Mr Slade, what do you have to say about these allegations?" Chris asked, looking at Vaughn."I am getting quite used to people spreading fake news about me. But as my wife just said, we are happily married, and even though our story didn't start like every other typical love story, it all worked out," Vaughn answered."Good to hear from you both; it's time to take a few calls from some of the people at home who have some questions to ask," Chris stated. He then read the calling line aloud and after

"VAUGHN'S POV"There was no way I was going to just lose billions because of this scandal. It seemed to me like this was a well-calculated move from whoever had planned this. The person must have known about the project, and it got me doubting if this person was really Liam. This project with Mr Zack would make my company number one and put me ahead of all of our competitors. As Aria pulled away from the hug, she looked right at me and asked what I had in mind. The situation was not only tricky, it also happened so fast."I have a friend who works at one of the biggest press companies; I was thinking we should grant an interview and talk honestly about our love life," I said."But isn't that going to make it all more complicated? We would have to state the fact that you had to marry me after Sophia ran away," Aria asked. Her concerns were valid but that was the only chance we had at the moment.Organizing another press conference was an option, but Liam still had not been caught, and

"ARIA'S POV"It had been a while now since Vaughn excused himself from the dining table. His food was starting to get cold, and it made me wonder where he went. After a few more minutes of waiting for him to return, I stood up and decided to go look for him.I then walked into the living room and was so shocked by what next I saw: my face and my sister's were on the television right next to Vaughn's face."What is going on here, Vaughn?" I asked, walking closer to him.By the look on his face, he was also clearly shocked by what was going on."It's nothing," He replied, picking up the remote to the television and switching it off."This isn't nothing, I clearly saw what was written on it," I said.It was true that I was a replacement and had to marry Vaughn but that decision had turned out to be the best one of my entire life."I'm so sorry I dragged you into this life, Aria," Vaughn said, gazing into my eyes. "Someone who is out to destroy me and my company must be behind this.""Wha

"VAUGHN'S POV""Aria is really going to be upset," I said, while going through the results of the interview.Sophia came second and it was a really close one.I was also really hoping she was going to make it and seeing that she didn't made me a bit sad."She will get plenty more opportunities," I said to myself.A woman named Sarah came first in the interview and from what I remembered from seeing her earlier, she was really good. Her qualifications exceeded the requirements of the role and she answered all of the questions she was asked by the recruiters with confidence. She was just exactly who we needed for the role."Well deserved, Sarah," I muttered."Sophia will get over it," I added, closing the envelope and continuing with my work. After working about five hours with no break, I finished up with all my work and decided it was time to go home.I stood up from the chair and put on my suit, which I had earlier removed, but right after I buttoned up, I heard a knock on the door t

"AUTHOR'S POV"Aria slept in the guest room that night as she was just too angry at Vaughn, too angry to look into his eyes. She had been trying to keep it in but was just tired of Vaughn letting his mother disrespect her.He hated that he was always there and only watched in silence. All she wanted was to be respected by Vaughn's family and also to be accepted. The next morning, Aria walked out of the guest room after making sure Vaughn had left for work but ran into Sophia who was also walking out of her room."Aria," Sophia muttered, walking closer to her.She noticed her eyes was a bit swollen and it was as if she had been crying all night."Are you okay?" Sophia asked, staring into her eyes."Yes, i just had a little fight with Vaughn yesterday evening and had to sleep in the guest room," Aria replied.Sophia didn't know if she should ask her sister about the cause of the fight and just pulled her in for a hug."I am here it you want to talk about it," Sophia said, but Aria assur

"VAUGHN'S POV"I understood perfectly well that Aria loves her sister and only meant well but to me, it was all just going too fast.I also felt like Aria only talks me once she makes the decision and I hated it.Sophia had only being here for just a month and now she was about to apply for a job in my company. That meant I would have to work with her and see her every single day.Aria had been so happy with her at the house and since keeping her happy was my only priority, I decided to go with it even though I was skeptical about it.I liked to work with strangers since it was easier but decided this might be a chance to try working with family."The interview is in the next two days, tell her to get ready," I said. "I am going to forward a list of requirements she needs to meet to get the position to your phone now.""Thank you babe, I am sure she would be even more excited than she was earlier when I told her," She replied, rushing out of the room.As I watched the door close, I su
