Words refused to come out of my mouth as I kept staring at Darius, my heart pounding heavily against my chest.

'Just when did he get this hot?' I pondered as I stared into his brown eyes. His dark hair was now longer and packed into a bun, with tiny diamond earrings in his ears.

His shirt struggled to contain his build as he fixed his cufflinks, walking towards me.

"You are not deaf, are you?" He asked and a huge lump formed in my throat. Instead of replying, I just dashed out of the room and bumped into Jenna in the process.

"Hey, I was looking for you. You took quite a long time." Jenna grabbed my hand which seemed to be shaking as I stared at her.

"Really?" I asked, wondering how time passed that quickly.

"Yes, I even went upstairs to fetch Darius, but he wasn't there, and I am sure he hasn't gone to work," Jenna answered and my heart skipped a beat again.

I was about to point towards the guest room, to tell her he was in there when he walked out, wearing his suit Jacket.

"Decided to sleep in the study, instead Babe." He said as he walked up to her and kissed her on the lips, with a beautiful smile that melted my heart.

He totally ignored my presence and gathered her into his arms, showering her face with kisses while I watched like the outsider I was.

I tried not to feel hurt and just looked away.

"But why?" Jenna asked.

"I couldn't bear to sleep without you. It was torture breathing in your scent while you weren't there." He explained, and I bit my lower lip hard.

As always, he loved her so much, if not more now.

Jenna chuckled and I turned to see her pulling him in to seal their lips together again, as she ruffled his curled hair.

"Hmm." I coughed, alerting them that I was still here, but regretted it the next minute when Darius turned to throw me a death glare that sent shivers down my spine.

"Sorry." I found myself apologizing and Jenna burst into laughter while I took my eyes to the floor.

"Who the hell is this intruder?" Darius snapped and my heart tightened in pain.

Like I thought, he didn't even recognize me. Was I that unimportant to him, even as a family member to his wife?

"This is Betty," Jenna replied and there was silence for a while. I got curious and raised my head a little to see him looking at me, with his lips parting in shock.

"Your younger sister?" He questioned and Jenna nodded eagerly. He continued to stare, his eyes widening slightly while I scratched the back of my head nervously, feeling uncomfortable.

'Did I look that bad?' I pondered.

"She looks nothing like the nerd Betty I know." He wrapped his hands around Jenna's waist.

"I know right. I was surprised when I saw her too. I guess the states have changed her." My sister agreed. "She is prettier than I am now."

Darius turned to furrow his brows at Jenna, as if she had told a big lie.

"Oh please! No one can be prettier than you, in my eyes." Darius pecked her on the cheeks, and Jenna giggled while I decided that I had, had enough of this PTSD.

Thankfully, my phone rang again, so I excused myself to take it, but as I walked back to the living room, I could feel someone's stare burning into my back and knew it was him.

But why?

By 4pm in the evening, I was all settled in my room and was going through my tablet when I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in," I said, thinking it was Jenna.

'But when did she start to knock?' I wondered only to look up at the sound of my door opening and see Darius walking in.

My hands trembled, the tablet falling from my hand to the bed as I watched him stop in front of my bed, his hands in his pockets.

He was dressed in jeans and a baggy T-shirt, his hair repacked in a way that some strands were let out to cover a part of his eyes.

"H-hi." I stammered, but he didn't reply; rather, he kept watching me, almost poking holes into my body.

His stare became so intense that my body felt like it was on fire, my palms growing sweaty as I looked everywhere else in the room, but him.

"Have you had sex before?" I heard him say and turn to widen my eyeballs at him.

Why would he ask me such?

"No," I told him, and I think I saw a smile cross his lips, but when I blinked, it was gone, like I had imagined it, because he was now glaring, like I had stolen something from him.

"Can you stop giving me those murderous eyes? How are we supposed to make a child, if you keep looking at me like that?" I chuckled, trying to ease the tension.

"I am only going to do this because of Jenna." He began and I shut my eyes tightly to conceal the agony running through me.

"I am aware of your plans and trust me, they wouldn't work." He added and I immediately flicked my eyelids open.

'What the hell is he saying? What plans?' I wanted to ask but;

"Can we skip all these and just get to business?" I said instead, and the side of his lips curled into a smirk.

"Why? Can't wait to ride my dick?" He mocked and I dug my nails into my palm as I forced a smile at him.

"Can't wait to get your family off my sister's back," I told him and the smirk immediately wiped off his face, replaced with a frown.

"What do you mean?" He questioned and I just scoffed, ignoring him and grabbing my tablet to resume work when he jumped into my bed without warning.

I was about to scream when he pushed me to the bed and got on top, his face dangerously close to mine as he breathed onto me.

He grabbed me by the shoulders, his touch sending goosebumps all over my body as the air suddenly turned suffocating, I found it hard to breathe.

"You don't ignore me." He warned, gritting his teeth together and I struggled to nod, feeling saliva gathered in my mouth. I gulped them down, my heart racing.

He leaned in as if he wanted to kiss me, and I held my breath in anticipation, or was it fear? His hands stroked my face, his fingertips drawing circles on my lower lip.

He bent and bit me hard on it, almost drawing blood. I winced in pain and tried pushing him off when his tongue swiped against me and my hands went weak.

My legs shook on the bed, my nipples hardening against my dress as I felt his hard-on being pressed against my crotch.

Wait! His hard-on? Was I causing him an erection?

He rocked against me and a moan escaped my lips as he kissed the corner of my mouth, his hand gripping my hair tightly.

"Are you wet for me?" He whispered huskily against my ear, as he slid his hand down my body, under my gown where he found my panties.

He licked my earlobe, before giving it a soft bite. Another moan escaped me, especially when he began rubbing circles on my pussy, through my panties.

His fingers did wonders, his mouth moving down to my neck to suck on my flesh. I arched my back, throwing my head backwards into the pillows as I gripped his hands tightly.

I stopped him and made him look at me when the door burst open and Jenna came in.

"Betty." She called, but froze in her steps, her mouth hanging open at the position Darius and I were in.

Darius’s shout shook the room like thunder. He shoved his chair back, his hands gripping his hair as though trying to tear the truth out of his skull.“Her memory? What the hell do you mean she lost her memory?!” His voice cracked with rage and disbelief.Jenna flinched. She had prepared for this moment, but the reality of it still pierced her chest. “Honey, please, calm down. The doctors said”“Don’t honey me, Jenna!” he snapped, slamming his hand against the table so hard the plates rattled. His eyes were wild, glossy with pain he couldn’t contain. “You should have told me earlier. You let me come all this way, sit down to eat, and only now you tell me my Betty doesn’t even know who she is anymore?”Tears spilled freely down Jenna’s cheeks. She wanted to run, but she forced herself to stay. “I didn’t know how to tell you. You were barely strong enough to leave the hospital yourself. I couldn’t crush you with that news when you were still recovering.”Darius paced the room, chest hea

  • SURROGATE FOR MY SISTER'S HUSBAND    Chapter 28: FINALLY OPENED UP TO HIM.

The car sped through the evening streets, headlights slicing through the dim orange glow of the sinking sun. Darius leaned forward, his voice firm as he gave the driver quick instructions.“Take this short cut. We need to get out of this city fast and head into ours,” he said, his tone carrying both urgency and exhaustion. The driver nodded, saying nothing. His hands gripped the steering wheel tighter as he followed the directions. Jenna sat quietly beside Darius, her heart racing faster than the vehicle itself. Her mind was heavy with thoughts of Betty lying in the hospital bed, the danger that seemed to follow them, and the secret she was still holding back from her husband.Their plan was simple, at least on the surface. They would first stop at Darius’s mansion so he could bathe and change into fresh clothes. Then, they’d head straight to the hospital where Betty was waiting. The plan had been Jenna’s idea; she knew her sister needed them, but she also knew Darius couldn’t face Be

  • SURROGATE FOR MY SISTER'S HUSBAND    Chapter 27: IS LEAVING AN OPTION?

The minutes dragged like hours. Every tick of the clock made me more restless. My ears caught every sound outside the room footsteps, murmured voices, the squeak of a trolley wheel. Each noise twisted in my stomach like a warning. Finally, I stood and smoothed my clothes. “Let’s get downstairs before the driver arrives,” I said, my voice low but firm. “I don’t want us trapped here when he gets here.”Darius shifted uncomfortably, his bandaged leg stiff. He gritted his teeth and leaned on me as he stood. He was heavier than I remembered, or maybe my body was simply too tense with fear to carry him easily. Still, I tightened my arm around him, refusing to let him falter.I slung the bag across my shoulder and opened the door. The hallway stretched ahead, pale and sterile, yet it felt like walking through enemy territory.“Easy,” I whispered as he limped beside me.The fluorescent lights buzzed above, flickering faintly. My eyes scanned every corner, every shadow. Twice, I thought I saw

  • SURROGATE FOR MY SISTER'S HUSBAND    Chapter 26: THE STRANGER CAME FOR ME!

Morning sunlight filtered weakly through the dusty hospital blinds, streaking the floor with pale gold. The sterile smell of antiseptic clung to my skin, mixed with the faint scent of sweat and fear. I had spent the morning whispering soft words to Darius, brushing his hair back from his forehead, doing everything I could to keep his spirits up. But beneath my smiles and gentle touches, my heart thudded like a drum. He didn’t yet know the truth about last night's shadows, the messages, the woman.I had to get him out. I had to get us both out. This hospital was no longer safe, not for another night.Darius sat propped up on the hospital bed, his face lit with a calm happiness I hadn’t seen in a while. Maybe it was because of the night we’d just had the intimacy we’d shared, the rawness of reconnecting after so long apart. It had felt strange but familiar, a reminder of what we once were. For a brief moment, it had even been fun. But the morning light didn’t erase the danger lurking j
