Chapter 1

I don't necessarily blend in, but I don't stick out either. I'm that face in the crowd that you'll notice only if you're looking for me. I'm the girl with the loud laugh and dimple, you'd look at and wonder what I was laughing at so hard. 

I like it that way, I like being that person. The one with the questionable fashion sense. That was me. I like getting your attention and making you wonder. I like wearing clothes that someone wouldn't necessarily pick out for themselves but see me wearing it and think, "what the hell is wrong with this girl?". 

That's me, that's Sarafina for you. 

I paint. I'm an artist, an artist with the love of playing violin and spending my free time in my own little bedroom. I enjoy looking over my paint covered fingers and my African hair crazed and untidy, with an old pair of jeans on and an oversized Kaiser Chiefs shirt on, listening to Timo ODV and Shekinah. 

I'm still learning though, I'm learning to nurture and fully utilise my skills at my university. Both as a violinist and as an artist. 

Now our university- our professor, has given us an opportunity of a lifetime to take us to go see the biggest arts and creativity museum in England. Where we'll be meeting with many other students, from across the globe for one of the biggest new art showcases for (in my opinion) this age because a South African and Nigerian duo had painted an absolute master piece which will be hung among the greatest arts, right there on that day. 

I went there thinking- knowing that I was witnessing one of the most amazing moments in history, as a young student. I went there excited to see the other side of the world, but glad that at the end of the day I'd be coming back home. 

It was just going to be 36 hours spent in England, and then we'd make our way back.

1 night. 

36 hours. 

2 160 minutes. 

129 600 seconds. 

All gone by with a blink of an eye and a click of a finger, thrusting me into a world many believe to be fairy tale.
