I hugged him tightly, gazing up at him before slipping on my shoes. Together, we walked into the kitchen, and I switched on the kettle. "Coffee, Dad?" I asked, as he settled down at the table.

"Yep, thanks, dear," he replied, giving me a smile. I whipped up some coffee for both of us while my mind raced. I couldn't help but wonder if Aiden had responded yet and what would've happened if my Dad had arrived a few moments earlier. I'd probably be in the middle of a long lecture by now. I carefully carried the cups to the table, setting one in front of my Dad before taking a seat across from him.

"Someone donated enough money for us to hit our target! We did it, the community centre will be renovated at last!" He said happily.

I smiled at the great news, I was glad it made my Dad happy. We talked for a little while longer, until Mary, the church secretary knocked on the door, seeking my Dad's assistance with something.
