Grace POV

"Girl, have you heard?" Mara, one of my best friends asked and I shook my head in indication for her to continue. "I got information that there is these group of men that would be attending tonight's party, you girls know an average guy can't get into that building right? meaning that all of them are rich, but girls, when I say these particular groups coming today are filthy rich believe me" Mara said. We are currently three in the room. Mara, Chloe, and me. Let me correct you, we do not call girls or hook-up girls or something similar.

The three of us met when we were just university freshmen, we three were poor, suffering, and anything related, it was a very bad period of my life when I woke up and didn't even know if I would eat anything for the day. My family can be described as the 'best' family one can ever dream of having. My dad left my mom to live with his new 'sweetheart' and my mom was the one who trained me in school to university first year but she can't take it anymore. Even during the first semester she would starve herself days of meals and would only be eating snacks just to save up money to buy the things I needed and she developed a sickness because of that.

During that period of my life, that was when I met Chloe and Mara. They were passing through things similar to mine but theirs can be described as better. We became friends and tried to forge ahead with determination but life proved to us that without money one can do nothing at all. But during those times one trait we shared in common and never paid attention to become of our situation was our appearance, our beauty. It was like a jolt of wake-up call when Chloe's parents bought her a new pair of clothes, and one of the well-known university students came up to her "Y...You a..are really beautiful Chloe" he said and the look on our faces can win the Oscars.

We took it as a joke at first and Chloe respectfully thanked him. But when others started glancing at her and then at us, some of them swarming our way like flies. That was when we realized what we had been missing, what we had been ignoring for a long. With our advice, Chloe accepted one of the guy's love requests and started dating him. With the male's money, we were like a shrunk floor that suddenly bloomed. Chloe, like the lovely girl she is didn't leave us behind, and with that, we started taking care of ourselves and it passing day was like a dream to us. We three transformed into what most of them called breathtaking.

We soon became the talk of the university, and the school's well-to-do guys were like if any of them managed to win me or Mara's heart, that person would become the school king. Mara wasn't included because she already had a boyfriend and me and Mara refused to accept anyone. Mara's boyfriend as greedy as he was accepted to provide us with what we needed 'As his girlfriend's gorgeous friends' but we three knew his true aim.

As time went on we became the most breathtaking trio in the school but unlike the others something was bothering me, more like someone and that's my mom. Her sickness developed to the stage that she had to use all her money to treat herself. Although her pay could keep the sickness in check it couldn't not cure her completely. My mom has been my rock when I had no one so I don't joke with her life at all. With that, I started thinking of a way to raise money, a lot of it that could be able to cure the sickness completely.

Chloe's boyfriend was providing for me and Mara everything required from the University so I had nothing to worry about in the school aspect and he didn't mind because it wasn't costing him anything. Only his weekly allowance from his family can pay off every damn thing and a lot will still be left for his use. But I know better than to ask him to help with my mom's sickness. He was paying for my school stuff but if I went further to request more help he would propose something in return that I knew I would never like, and if I refused it might cost me too in terms of the ones he was already paying for me. All this congestion wasn't just made up because the advances he was making on me proved it. And the other reason why I wouldn't let anything happen between us was the fact that he is my best friend's boyfriend. If I let it happen it means that the guy is more important than our friendship which is not possible. Even if I had to accept such a proposal it would be with the boyfriend I accepted and not with someone else boyfriend. But what surprised me too was that I hadn't seen him make a similar advance on Mara.

When I asked Mara about it she just shrugged and said nothing, but there's a rumor going on in the university that 'Grace is prettier than the two pretties' but I never believed them. Those people have no eyes and can't see anything. If I'm more beautiful upon how gorgeous Mara and Chloe are then...

I didn't even dare to complete the thought. Every passing day I kept rejecting relationship proposals and thinking of a way to help my mom's situation. When I almost thought that the only solution was to accept one of the rich hot guys flirting and pay off the money a thought then crossed my mind. I don't know why I even had this particular crazy thought in the first play but it happened to be a good idea, going to events, ceremonies, and gatherings with rich guys and then getting paid for it.
