ADRIANNA GREY: Father called me cursed all because my birth cost my mother’s life. To get rid of me and acquire wealth, he sold me to our kingdom’s Alpha King, a devil incarnate who forced me to sexual slavery. Just as my term under him was ending, I was framed by his sister. As punishment, he resold me to another Alpha King twice cruel. Life felt worthless. I didn't see the reason to keep living until I found salvation in an unexpected somebody. He risked everything to save me and gave me a reason to keep living. He treats me like I'm gold and is willing to burn the world to ashes for my sake. But after the betrayal, agony and abuse I’ve suffered in the hands of men, can I truly trust him with my heart especially after discovering his true identity? ERIC BLACKWELL: She was an innocent girl with the most beautiful eyes, dressed in oversized, shabby boy clothes when I first saw her. After I saved her from being burned alive at the market, I felt an instant pull towards her, like a moth drawn to a flame. In my thirty years of living, I’d never felt this way for anyone. But I lost her. Like a treasure, I searched for her—only for fate to intervene in the most twisted way. She turned out to be my boss’s sex slave. Aware of the danger that loomed over her, I set out to save her again, not minding the risks involved or the brutal things I had to do. Yet dangerous secrets surrounding my true identity began to resurface, threatening to strain the bond we’d managed to create. ⚠️⚠️Warning: contains mature and some disturbing contents. "Hindi na natin kaya, anak."
Yung mga salitang ‘yon, para bang tinaga sa batok ko. Nakatulala lang ako habang nakaupo sa harap ng mahogany desk sa opisina ko. Once the pride of Navarro Real Estate. Ngayon?
No one wants to touch us now—not even with a ten-foot pole.”
Wala 'yung nagawa.
“Pero… may mga backup tayo, 'di ba? Di ba may offshore funds? Emergency reserves?”
“You’ll marry Damien Vale.”
Tahimik. Sobrang tahimik.
Totoo ‘yung sinabi niya.
“What?” I exclaimed, pero mahinahon pa rin.
“It’s part of the agreement with VALECORP," mahinahon niyang paliwanag sa akin. "They’ll merge with Navarro Company and save us from full bankruptcy. Pero may kondisyon." Huminto siya ng saglit bago nagpatuloy. “Marriage.”
Napatawa ako, pero wala sa tono. “So…ganun na lang? Ibebenta niyo ako kapalit ng kompanya?”
“Hindi kita binebenta, anak.” Napalunok siya. “Pero ‘yan na lang ang natitirang paraan. Damien offered this himself. He said it’s cleaner. Legally binding. Less messy for the press.”
Damien Alistair Vale. The coldest, most calculating man I’ve ever met in boardrooms. Three-piece suit. Zero smile. Eyes like ice. And now, magiging asawa ko?
Ang mas masakit? I know Damien. Tactical. Ruthless. Laging panalo. At ako, magiging pawn niya?
“So… ang choice ko lang ay… kalayaan ko o ang legacy ng pamilya natin?”
Walang sagot si Mama. Pero malinaw na ang kasagutan.
Kinagabihan, nag-iisa ako sa penthouse. Bukas ang bintana, malamig ang hangin. Hawak ko ‘yung framed photo namin ni Papa—back when things were simpler.
✴✴✴
The next day, nasa VALECORP Tower na ako. Isang boardroom sa top floor—puro glass walls, puro sophistication. Parang lungsod ng mga taong walang damdamin.
Pumasok siya.
Damien Alistair Vale.
Tall, composed, dangerously calm. Parang eksena sa movie, pero walang kilig. Pure pressure lang.
“Ms. Navarro,” he greeted, without blinking.
“Mr. Vale,” sagot ko, pilit ang ngiti.
Umupo siya. Tapos ako.
Tumitig ako sa kanya. Hindi ko alam kung iiyak ako o tatawa.
“So… you want to buy my company and marry me at the same time. Cute.”
“I’m not here to be cute,” he said coldly. Bluntly. “This is business. You need a solution. I’m offering one.”
“Walang love. Walang emotion. Just pure corporate convenience?”
“Exactly.”
Nagtagal ako ng tingin. Gusto kong bumangon at sampalin siya. Pero hindi ako papetikss-petiks lang. I know how to play.
“Fine,” I said. Tumayo ako at naglakad palapit sa kanya. Tinitigan ko siya ng diretso. “Let’s play your game, Damien Vale. Pero just so you know—marriage or not, you will never own me.”
“We’ll see about that.”
CHAPTER 52ADRIANNA’S POVAs I followed closely behind him, we walked in silence so sharp, it cut through me, making my insides bleed. My mind raced with different thoughts. Conflicting thoughts that threatened to wreck me apart.I wanted to tell him how sorry I was. I wanted to lie to him that I wasn’t trying to escape. That was the real reason I left: to go get that hidden money from my father’s house, and after that, return to the house. I wanted to tell him that Alpha Nolan was dead, and our pictures were flying around the kingdom because they thought we were responsible for it—a puzzle I couldn’t piece together no matter how hard I tried.Maybe he knew from how he reacted—so unbothered when those guys recognized him as the person in the picture and said he'd be coming with them. He wasn’t home almost throughout yesterday, so there was a possibility he was aware of it. But if he was then why didn’t he tell me about it? I wanted to know how Nolan died, who did it, and how on earth
CHAPTER 51ERIC’S POV“Who is the one smirking now?” I said with a smug grin spreading across my face as I looked down on him.Glancing up, I could see the other one had retreated, screaming for help as he ran for his life out onto the road like he had encountered a hideous monster.I wanted to chase after him and catch him. I wanted them to individually pay for what they did to Adrianna. But time wasn’t on our side; we needed to make it back to the house in the next minute. Nonetheless, I had marked his face, engraved it like a scar in my head. One day, we will cross paths, and that day, I’ll make sure he suffers a fate far worse than what I was doing to his colleague.“Your friend left you,” I said, returning my gaze to the trembling wreck on the ground. “How noble of him.” My voice dripped with sarcasm. “He ran before I could get my hands on him… which means, lucky you—you’ll get to fill in for him and take his share of the pain.”“Please…” he pleaded, pitifully, dragging his body
CHAPTER 50ERIC’S POV“Eric be careful…” Adrianna blurted out on seeing the weapon.I stopped in my tracks, but the raging expression in me was still there, deepening and becoming more intense with each passing moment.“Easy there tough guy,” Kanute said with a smug smile, the giggling noises from his fellow only making him double his effort, making him feel mighty and untouchable. “Take another step forward and I swear, I’ll blow your brains to a fucking pulp,” he said it like he meant it. “Now, get on the floor and put your hands over your head. We’re taking you with us.”“You said it like a fucking cop,” his fellow nudged him playfully and they giggled in unison, their faces lit with juvenile delight—smiles that only pissed me off more. This seemed like a fucking game to them, and they were enjoying it to the point of lunacy, like two kids high on chaos and too far gone to realize they were poking a beast.Normally, when people see me like this, they’re enveloped with a bone-deep f
CHAPTER 49ERIC’S POVI nearly lost hope, thinking I had lost her forever. Now out of the long hidden pathway that led out of the house, I couldn’t see her. There was no sign of her on the narrow roads, corners, or anywhere. She might have left this part of the kingdom already. The thought of that made panic curl around my spine like a serpent.‘No…’ I tried to convince myself otherwise, holding onto the hope I knew I didn’t have. She didn’t know her way around this area so navigation will be quite difficult, slowing her down. I can still find her. I know I will. I just hope it’s not too late.It was still early in the morning—too early for the streets to be crowded. That worked in my favor. With fewer eyes around, the risk of someone recognizing me was low. I had left the house in a rush, without a hoodie, cap, or anything to conceal my identity. If anyone had seen that photo of us circulating across the kingdom, recognizing me would be as easy as solving a kid’s puzzle.Adrianna was
CHAPTER 48ADRIANNA’S POVScrambling to my feet, I wanted to run when a strong grip tightened around my hair, stopping me and pulling me back.“Tch… Tch… Tch… Tch…” Rico clicked his tongue in mock pity, his smoke laden breath heating the back of my neck, everything about him reeking of weed and piss. “Nice try, little mouse, but there is no way we’re letting our million-dollar reward get away like that.”His grip tightened around my hair causing a sharp sting to spread across my scalp. In a bid to dull the searing pain, I clutched my hands around the back of my head where he had me, trying to tear off his grip. But it was impossible. He had folded my strands twice around his palm, his grip so firm it felt like a vice clamped onto my skull.“Please stop…” I pleaded, crying out in agonizing pain. “You’re hurting me… please…”“Well, you're being a squirming little pest!” He snarled through gritted teeth. “Stop putting up a fight and stop trying to wrench free. Only then will it hurt less
CHAPTER 47ADRIANNA’S POV“No…” I quivered, trying to crawl away from them but they had me trapped. “Please… let me go… You’ve got it all wrong. I’m not the one in that photo… You’re clearly mistaken me for someone else. I’ve never even been in a photo before…”I tried to explain but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Kanute crouched beside me and brought his hand forward to show me the picture. “Are you trying to say we’re dumb or what?” He cocked a brow, his tone edged with annoyance. “Or you’ve never seen a mirror in your life before to know what the fuck you look like?”Slowly, without saying a word, I moved my head from side to side in response so as not to provoke him further. Squinting my eyes, I jutted forward to get a clear view of the picture he was holding before me. As I did, my breath caught in my throat, as I saw it was a portrait photo of Eric and me. My gaze floundered in confusion as I stared at him helplessly, struggling to wrap my head around the situation. What was
