Chapter 58: The Fire That Burns

“Knock”

“Knock”

I open my eyes to see if Dominic ever came back to the room last night.  When I realize that he hadn’t, I climb out of bed and throw on my robe.  I smell the distinct aroma of bacon from downstairs and the minute I smell it, my stomach starts growling. 

After I walk to the door, the knocking stops for a second and I grip the handle before opening it.  Just as I turn the knob, the knocking starts again, and it makes me jump when I startle.  I say with a raised voice, “Hold on, let me open it.”

When I pull it towards me, I see Monique standing there with my breakfast.  “Here you go, I have brought this up for you.  How are you feeling this morning?” She smiles before walking in and placing it on the table in front of me.

“Oh, thank you so much.  How did you know I was so hungry?  The minute I smelled the bacon, my stomach was growl
