Chapter 26 - Questioned by the King

Lance POV

As I look through the document, my father asks, “Did you know Alpha Edward called Trinity?”

My heart beats harder, and I swallow the lump in my throat. Slowly, I glance up from the document and stare across the desk at him. “Did they have a pleasant talk? I’m sure she was happy to hear from him.”

He nods and leans forward, grabbing another stack of documents from the corner of his desk. “I think so. She seemed happy and almost like a weight has been lifted off her when I was talking to her. I also found out you haven’t been there to visit her for a couple of days. Is there a reason?”

My mouth instantly goes dry.

I shake my head. “No. There isn’t any reason.” I turn my attention back to the document and dive right back in to reviewing it.
