Trinity POV
A slight ache pulses down the middle of my head, but it isn’t anywhere close to the agonizing pain I was feeling earlier. I keep my eyes shut, hoping it will go away. To my frustrations, the slight ache continues.
Tentatively, I open my eyes.
I’m still in the same place as before. Where exactly is it? Why am I here? Am I stuck in some kind of limbo? Do I need to do something before I can go somewhere else?
Questions continue to roll through my mind.
My breath hitches.
Where is my wolf? She hasn’t said anything or moved around. Where is she?
I couldn’t have been injured so badly that my wolf retreated into the shadows. An alpha should always hear their wolf, no matter how injured you are.
Fear washes over me.
No. I can’t lose my wolf. That would be the end of me.
A bright light flashes in front of me.
I quickly squint and hold my hand out in front of my face, shielding myself.
The light dims and another image, like before, appears in front of me, or I think it is an image. I don’t remember seeing the woman before.
Suddenly, the woman walks towards me.
My breath hitches again. Is she real or is this a video of something I don’t remember from my past?
The woman in a long, flowing white gown has an elegance I haven’t seen before. She almost seems to float towards me. Her long blonde hair sways in the breeze, but there isn’t a breeze.
My heart pounds against my chest. What is going on?
Her gray eyes shimmer as if there is light shining on them, but there is none.
My mouth instantly goes dry.
An air of power circles around her as she calmly says, “You are alright. I won’t let anything happen to you.” Her angelic voice is smooth and somehow calms my nerves.
I shake my head. “I don’t feel alright. My head aches, and I have no clue where I’m at. For all I know, I’m some prisoner in some far off land.”
A smile tugs at her mouth, and she shakes her head. “This isn’t a prison, and I’m not holding you captive. I’m protecting you and your wolf.”
My lip quivers. “Where is my wolf? I can’t sense her, and she isn’t talking.”
Her smile widens. “I’m protecting her. Don’t worry. She will return when she is healed, but not before. It isn’t safe for her to return until then.”
My legs wobble, and I sway slightly. This can’t be happening.
The woman steps closer to me and pats my arm. A calmness settles over me and my fears fade away. “You are too important. I won’t let anything happen to you. You are destined for great things, along with your mate.”
My mate?
I tilt my head and stare at her. “I thought maybe I didn’t have a mate. Everyone else had found their mate except for me.”
With a sympathetic look, she shakes her head. “I wouldn’t do that to you. You are the first female alpha in your pack, and I’m very proud of you. You desire to have a mate, but not just any mate. He will appear soon.”
For the first time since waking up in this place, I have something to look forward to. I have a mate and will meet him soon.
A wide grin erupts on me.
I wonder what he looks like. Is he an alpha of his pack, too? No. I’m supposed to rule my pack. My mate will come to my pack and help me lead everyone.
A picture of Drake flashes behind the woman, and my heart sinks.
No. I’m married.
My smile morphs into a scowl as a line forms along my forehead. Now, what am I going to do? I’ve married another man.
I was celebrating our marriage before I fell for the stupid trap which got me in this situation.
Dread washes over me. Am I going to have to reject my mate? I don’t want to, but do I have a choice?
If my wolf was here, she would give me some helpful advice.
A white wolf walks out from behind the woman and sits down next to her. The woman scratches the top of the wolf’s head. “Things aren’t all messed up. You can stop thinking the worst.”
I shake my head as anger rushes through me. “How can you say that? I followed my father’s advice and agreed to an arranged marriage to someone who isn’t my mate. On my wedding night, I end up falling for a trap because I’m trying to protect my pack, which leaves me in this state. Whatever this state is.”
I wave my hands around in the air. “How can you say things aren’t messed up? From where I’m standing, things are messed up beyond belief. The icing on the cake would be if the Lycans have something to do with my attack, but I know my attackers are my own pack members. I recognized all of them. The only high point is I managed to kill a couple. I’m still in shock that any of my pack members would betray not only me but my father, too. I thought the entire pack was behind my father.”
Sadness fills her eyes. “Greed can turn the most loyal people into someone you don’t recognize. There isn’t anything you can do to change it if they put money, power, and titles above everything else.”
I agree. Luckily, none of my family or friends are like that. The only one who might be close is my brother, but I can understand his frustrations.
I nod. “Greed is horrible. Sane and rational people turn into crazies all because of it.”

Lance POV
I march through halls back towards the hospital, letting my frustrations flow into each heavy step, which booms through the halls warning everyone of my presence. If my thundering footsteps aren’t enough, the deep scowl on my face and the murderous look in my eyes also warn everyone to stay back. They know me well enough to scurry away.
My father’s demands keep running through my mind.
I must settle down and take my rightful place.
How can I do that without my mate? I need my queen by my side to rule over the Lycans.
Our history has countless examples of what happens when the king’s mate isn’t his queen, including several horrendous periods where the king randomly picked someone to be by his side and the queen.
I can’t do that to the pack or to myself.
I need to find my mate and make her my queen.
I burst into the hospital and storm down the hall towards the private room and the injured wolf. As I get closer to the room, my frustrations slowly fade, and worry sets in. Is she alright? Have they figured out who she is? There can’t be that many blonde werewolves. She is the only one I know of.
As I pass the nurse’s station down the hall from my final destination, the doctor, who has been talking to me, calls out. “Prince. We have some updates. Do you want to know what they are?”
My feet instantly stop, and I abruptly turn towards him. “What is it? What did you find?”
We have gotten some answers, but do we have all the answers? Stay with me and find out. If you enjoy the story, don't forget to leave a review and a gem. I would greatly appreciate it. :)
Trinity POV *** Two years later *** “You look amazing.” A smile erupts from me as I turn and face my parents and brother while they walk into the bedroom. Bright smiles adorn my parents’ faces and my brother cracks a small grin, which I’m still not used to seeing. Through the years growing up, he usually would carry a look of frustration and irritation when dealing with me. But now, he has slowly won the pack over, and they have accepted him as the pack’s alpha. It wasn’t a small thing, either. A few of the pack members held out for what felt like forever. In the end, his heroic actions in various battles, including saving a group of small children, won them over. They couldn’t deny it any longer. My brother deserves the alpha title. His continued effort to improve his alpha skills and knowledge has also helped show everyone he is the right person for the job. I carefully step forward, making sure not to step on the floor length ornate robe. “You made it. I’m so hap
Lance POVMy heart pounds as fear consumes me. It isn’t time yet. The baby shouldn’t be coming now. Something is wrong. I know it. With Trinity in my arms, I run through the mansion towards the front door. The doctors had been preparing a special delivery room in the mansion, so she wouldn’t have to leave. But it isn’t ready yet. They thought they had more time. “UGH!!!!” Her body tightens in my arms while her hands cradle her stomach. Pain, like I’ve never felt before, shoots through our bond and my body. My knees almost buckle as her scream echoes down the hall. I’ve been in plenty of battles and have been wounded many times, but this almost stops me in my tracks. I’ve already told the medical staff we are coming. My gaze stays focused ahead as a couple of staff walk into the hall. I shout, “Open the door!”Bethany and her parents run beside me. Bethany caresses the top of Trinity’s head. “Everything will be alright. They know what they are doing. You are in the b
Trinity POV “How are you doing? You are smiling. Does it mean things are going well?” I ease down in the dining room chair across the table from Bethany. My hand caresses the side of my large baby bump. I almost thought there were two in there, but the doctor has proved to me there is only one, really large pup. A shiver runs through my body. Hopefully, there won’t be any complications when the time comes. Bethany glances up from her plate of breakfast food and nods. “Luckily, things are going better. I’m still not able to eat with everyone in the dining hall, but the doctor thinks I can ease myself into it soon. One good sign is seeing the male staff doesn’t cause me to flinch anymore. I’m so thankful for the King allowing his friend to come and help me. When the doctor first arrived, I was too afraid of him, and all men. But I’m so much better now.” She has come a long way but has so much farther to go. Her scars are deep. “Good. Regardless of where you are at, I wi
Lance POVThe scent of blood and sweat, along with something rotten, assaults my nose and has me wishing I would have brought something to counteract it. Trinity marches beside me, but the stench doesn’t seem to affect her. Her eyes are fixed on the door a short distance ahead of us. Muffled screams of agony seep out from under the solid metal door, while the determination in her gaze never wavers and stays strong. Our heavy footsteps echo through the corridor, signaling the end is coming soon. In a hushed tone, I huff, “I’ll handle the interrogation. There is no need for you to put yourself in danger. You have…”Her lip twitches as she steps ahead of me and grabs the door handle. With steam rolling off her, she growls, “I’m fine. You don’t need to worry.”She yanks the door open and lets it slam against the wall before she storms inside. If I have thought the stench was bad in the hallway, it is nothing compared to the overwhelming foul smell in the dingy room. Blood
Trinity POVPeople. Everywhere. My feet slowly drag along the cement floor as I make my way through the bunker. Every spot has been converted into a hospital area. The medical staff have packed beds in any place where one will fit. Each patient has the same symptoms as the next. As soon as the white mist got near them, they collapsed.Luckily, all the medical staff had gotten to the bunker in time before any explosions happened or any chemicals were released into the air. I still have heard nothing from my father regarding his pack, but I’m going to assume the same thing has happened there. I silently pray to the moon goddess he got all the medical staff safely in the bunker before the chemical attack started. My stomach churns, and a sense of dread gnaws at me. If the goal was to break Alpha Derrick out of his cell, his brother has gone through all this and has come up short. The lycans had prepared for this and were waiting. Anyone stepping close to the dungeon or the al
Trent POV My father’s voice booms in my head. “The King and Queen are under attack!” My stomach sinks. It can only mean one thing. The wait is over. Seconds later, a howl reverberates through the training grounds, and my head whips around in its direction. Luckily, after healing me with my sister’s blood, I feel like a kid again. My energy is off the charts, and I seem to have a spring to my step, even when I’m angrily stomping around. I turn back to the field full of warriors. “This is it. We have known this is coming. Use your training and don’t let them get to the pack house. They must be stopped at all costs.” My alpha voice confidently roars out with my last sentence. It doesn’t hold the force and authority it will once I officially take my title and go through the ceremony, but it is still a command they must follow. The large group nods before turning towards the warning cries. Through the pack link, my father barks orders and the group scatters in all dir
