Axton’s P.O.V
I looked down at the open trash can and the bowl of noodles in my hand, debating if I was doing the right thing. In the end, I placed the bowl back inside the fridge instead of throwing it out.
“Fuck!”
What the fuck had gotten into me? That kiss was nothing significant to fuss over? And now that she didn’t eat the meal I prepared for her, I was planning on throwing away the noodles I made for her this morning? Seriously, I was acting like an angry teenager who lives rent free at their parent’s house and yet feel like all the world’s suffering is insignificant next to theirs!
There was no use in denying the fact that the kiss yesterday morning had made me feel things that I wasn’t supposed to feel, especially science it had only been days since Lily died. But the mating bond was hella strong…stronger than I had imagined it to be despite the fact that my mate was human.
Was this how my father had felt when he let g

Anika’s P.O.VShutting off my engine, I took a deep breath and leaned back against my seat, as I stared at my cabin.Raaz was probably asleep, considering that it was past ten at night. Or he probably didn’t care that I was late?I shook my head at my foolishness. Why was I trying to avoid going inside my own cabin? Just because of a stranger’s judgment? Just because of one little mistake? My mind was a mess and I was stressing out and that too, over a man I had known for what? Four days now?But tonight, while having dinner with Gustav, I realized something about me and Raaz that I hadn't realized before. And it was an eye opening realization. The day I came to the Sapphire Mountains, my life was in shambles. Everything that I had been living with, my believes, my family, the people I trusted…they had all let me down in one fell swoop and they weren’t even the least bit sorry about what they d
Anika’s P.O.V I took in the light pink blouse and dark blue denims that I had put on in the mirror, debating if I should change into a white shirt instead to go with the moss green jacket I was planning on wearing on top. It was finally the night that I would get to meet my savior; the mysterious woman who had saved my life from that hungry-looking wolf. So far, I had no idea who she was or how she looked, but Axton says she invited both of us to dinner this evening. It was a bit strange that a woman who saved my life was asking me to join her for dinner except for it being the other way around, but I guess some people like things a specific way?... if that even makes sense. On the other hand, I was still getting used to calling Raaz as Axton. Not that I was used to calling him Raaz for long, but in some way, him getting his memories back meant that it wouldn’t be long before him and I go our separate ways. ‘What are you?’
Axton’s P.O.V Sabrina had tried her best to grab my attention. From the décor to the food and the way she was dressed. Everything had only one intension…to seduce me. I could see it in the way her lips tilted up; the way her eyes roamed my form hungrily and the way her breasts strained against the fabric of her dress. She was still in heat and she seemed to have chosen me as her target. The problem here was, I was still unmated and the close proximity between us was making my wolf agitated as well. If I had mated Anika, or if my wolf had formed a mental bond with her wolf, then another wolf’s heat wouldn’t have bothered us. But Anika was human and I had chosen not to give into the temptation of the bond between us, so my wolf was now scratching at me, trying to get close to Sabrina. “Oh? Then can I have him?” That question had taken me just as off-guard as it had taken Anika and now that she rushed to the washroom to fix her d
Anika’s P.O.V I ran. It was the only thing I could do after what I had witnessed. I ran… I ran blindly. My heart pounded against my chest as I made my way down the hallways, trying to find my way in this maze of a mansion. Finally, I saw a painting that looked familiar, one that I had seen when I had entered the house and I took the turn, following down that hallway. With how my brain felt jumbled, my thoughts clogged…I was lucky that I could even vaguely remember how I got in. Finally…after what felt like an eternity later, I found the huge mahogany double doors with engravings on it that I entered the mansion through. Pushing on the doors that seemed immobile, I used all my strength to push open one side and then I was out the front door and into the cold night air that made goosebumps appear all over my body. I bent down to place my hands on my knees, taking in deep gulps of air as my lungs threatened to collapse. “
Anika’s P.O.V “Better?” Gustav asked, handing me a cup of warm ginger lemonade that he had just whipped up in my kitchen, as I sat on the couch, the covers thrown over my still trembling form. This was the same couch that Axton slept on every night… Shaking that thought out of my head, I took a sip of the lemonade, feeling the warm, sour liquid travel down my throat, bringing me instant relief. Previously, I had felt like gagging even after Gustav had given me plain water from my car after he had found me sprawled out in the middle of the road. Gustav had escorted me home, leaving his own car behind with Officer Emilio, just so he could drive me home. He’d waited in my kitchen, preparing the lemonade as I took a shower, scrubbing myself raw because I felt so filthy. But now, all I felt was…nothing. I felt completely numb; like I was one step away from having a mental breakdown. “No?” Gustav sat at the foot of the couch, his ha
Axton’s P.O.V “Hello, little brother.” I whipped around to face Gustav, crouching down in preparation for an attack. My wolf snarled inside my mind, wanting to take over, wanting to tear him apart piece by piece. But Gustav merely smirked, leaning against a nearby tree. “I’m not going to attack or try to kill you, Axton.” He shook his head. “I had given up on that idea the second I found out that Anika is your mate.” A growl tore through me. “Don’t you dare go near her!” “Or what?” He tilted his head to the side to study me, the smirk growing wider. “It’s funny how you’re acting the mean, big bad wolf when you have another woman’s scent all over you. Looks like I didn’t have to do much this time, Axton. You screwed up on your own.” “At least I screwed up, Gustav,” I growled at him. “I didn’t murder my own mate.” The next thing I know, I was being slammed against a tree hard enough that leaves fell from the tree
Anika’s P.O.V“Morning Dr. Meh…are you okay?”Fin came around the desk to greet me, her expression concerned as she looked me up and down. “Do you have a fever? Are you sick?”“That horrible, huh?” I asked her. It was Monday morning and I looked like shit.I knew I had to get out of this ridiculous stupor that I was in like my boyfriend had just dumped me. I hadn't eaten properly the last couple days and neither could I fall asleep. The instant I closed my eyes, that dreadful image filled my mind. Axton between Sabrina’s leg…his tongue lapping at her most intimate areas…and then his gemstone green eyes, with that pale yellow glow, meeting mine over Sabrina’s shoulders.I knew the way I was acting was simply stupid, but I couldn’t seem to get that image out of my head.It should’ve been me! A voice echoed inside my head every time
Anika’s P.O.V“Where are we?” I asked, looking at the cabin in front of us.This was just like any other cabins in this mountain that I had come across so far, but somehow, it still looked beautiful, more ornate than most. Maybe because it was two storied? Or maybe because it was set at the very edge of the cliff. The maker of this cabin had made a very bold decision and it had worked out beautifully.“My house.” Gustav gave me a bright smile. “I thought you would like some home-cooked meals rather than restaurant food. You’ve been having takeout almost every day.”“You saw that?” I asked him sheepishly. Of course he knew I was having take out every day, the little police station was right opposite to the diner and from what I had noticed, the middle-aged woman that owned the diner was quiet friendly with him.“I tend to notice interesting things about interesting pe
