CHAP. THREE—THE SPECIALS CLASS.

『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ• *+.』

ROOM 384.

That was what was plated on the wooden room door.

Scarlett stayed behind the principal the entire time after scanning her class schedule. All her lessons were going to be in one classroom, which included Homeroom. But a bit of a relief for her. At least she won't get to see a lot of students in her way.

It was situated further away from most other classrooms, in fact—the nearest doors were either just the janitor's closets or just the empty, dead-end corridor of brown tiles. But the question still sticks out on who her classmates were. Were they applied to the same course as her? What kind of course is this? Why would Scarlett be forwarded into this class in the first place? Or was it how the school system worked?

Was it a foreign exchange class? Or was it in a grade system form? Were her grades not good enough? But then again, Scarlett always has been a standard C- to B- student, no matter how hard she tried.

Garrix swerved open the door, and just as soon as the students caught sight of him, the classroom became as quiet as a graveyard.

"Oh—Principal Garrix. Is there something wrong?" Asked the teacher of the class.

"No no," Garrix pardoned with a passive grin and hearty chortle. "You have a new student, remember?"

"Oh, right. I forgot she was mentioned in this morning's meeting. Very well—" The female teacher grinned before the principal exited the class. "—you can come in, Miss."

Scarlett took a deep breath before bravely taking a step forward inside. The female teacher was a ravenette, with glasses fit for her strikingly strict persona. But her voice was a huge contrast. She sounded sweet—like some sort of guardian angel or mother figure.

The ocean-eyed teen then examined around and met the eyes of only 5 students in the class.

Each of them had different personalities of their own and seemed like they each had a story to tell. "Why don't you introduce yourself to the class?"

"Um...I'm Scarlett. Scarlett Lax."

"And where are you from, Scarlett?" The teacher asked.

"I just moved here from El Paso."

"Texas, how interesting." Said the ravenette teacher. "Well, you can call me Professor Ada. Welcome to your classroom. But as the school here likes to call it: the Specials Class."

'Specials Class?' Scarlett repeated in her thought.

"Class, introduce yourselves to Ms. Lax," said Professor Ada.

Seated from the front row, one male sat casually with his back slouched on the chair whilst swinging a lazy wave at her. He wore an outfit to beat away the autumn cold. He had shaggy brown hair and forest brown eyes, and a laidback aura reveling all around him.

The most noticeable thing from him would be his lime green scarf around his neck, covering his nose and mouth. He almost looked 20 or even 25 to be in high school. To Scarlett, he seemed more of a crackhead enthusiast or maybe he was already stoned. "Just call me Danté." He introduced himself with a procrastinate energy.

Behind the shaggy brunette was a teen boy with short blonde hair. Rather buff for his age. He had hazel brown eyes, and a stubble body, wearing a jacket over his quite muscular figure. "Gadiel, nice to meet you." Scarlett nodded back in acknowledgment.

He seemed like the responsible teen out of the five others. Like a Fred Jones leadership type of guy. The only thing missing from him was an orange ascot. But then one teen girl next to him scoffed in annoyance, gaining Scarlett's immediate attention.

She had blood red eyes and an intimidating body language, with the leather jacket over her grunge shirt and a visible nose ring. She was clearly someone that shouldn't be underestimated. "Fortune. Don't get in my way or else, wench."

"Ms. Fortune, behave. That is no way to say that to our newest student. Don't forget, she's one of us now," Ada kindly reprimanded.

"Yes, Professor Ada," the rebel-looking ravenette sighed dejectedly, becoming a little concord to Ada's command.

Scarlett didn't think that much about Fortune. She was still thinking back to what Professor Ada articulated just seconds ago.

'One of us?' She never thought it would ever be phrased like that. It was just a class. With only 5 students, including herself. What's so special about this so-called 'Specials Class' anyway?

Most of the class was pretty decent. Gadiel looked nothing but an honest good person. Danté and Fortune were questionable, most especially Fortune.

For a second there, she thought the class was some sort of mistake and she stepped into a permanent detention program. Scarlett highly doubted she'd make friends with anyone in the room.

"Alright, who's next?" Ada asked with an optimistic tone.

"Oh! Me! Can I!?" A loud bubbly voice waved her arms up from the far left corner of the classroom. Scarlett spotted a teen with white dyed hair that had an umbre effect which faded into an amethyst blue colour halfway down to the ends. Her eyes were a shiny cobalt blue, compared to Scarlett's ocean eyes.

"HI! Name's Sapphire! Oh my gosh, it's so nice to have a new friend in this class, and a GIRL even!" Scarlett could feel it. She could tell the teen was an extreme extrovert. The rambunctiousness, the high energy, it was...everywhere—like the sun.

"Finally! It was about time the class needed some equality!" Sapphire stretched out a bright grin. "I couldn't stand one more second in a room with these boys."

"Harsh, Sap," Danté whined jokingly. Fortune chuckled to herself whereas Gadiel lightly facepalmed and sighed.

"Hey, it's true. You all boys smell like random sheep guts. Some of us have heightened senses of smell. My nostrils are seriously crying."

"Real smooth," muttered one quiet person situated on Sapphire's left. Had long shoulder-length brown hair that kind of reminded her of Jared Leto. Well, minus the facial hair. He had a large hoodie over his head. He practically screamed 'Emo'.

Scarlett couldn't tell from under his long tufts and or hoodie what colour did he have in his eyes. He looked pretty much distant than anyone else in the whole class as if he didn't want to be at school to begin with.

"Oh don't be so grim and grey, Nicolai. You know I'm only teasing!" Sapphire grinned gleefully. "But for real, you seriously like—need to take a shower. You all smell like the 50s. Take one once in a while, would ya?" Scarlett found herself lightly snickering at Sapphire's jokester ambiance. It was like she embodied a real-life animé character. Her whole body fit the picture.

The shy teen known as 'Nicolai', glanced over to the gingerette, and he quickly stiffened.

The class quickly tensed the moment it happened, but then Sapphire quickly placed a hand over her shoulder before anything happened.

"Calm down, Nicki. It's alright, take deep breaths." Sapphire softly hushed. He looked like he was going to have a panic attack or a meltdown. Under his pockets, his nails gripped deep into his clothes. But it looked like he quickly calmed down before it happen.

"S-sorry about that, I almost—" Nicolai shuddered to the white-haired teen.

"When last did you eat?" She whispered.

Ada adjusted her glasses and sterned with a calculating stare, 'Just as I thought. He can't control himself by her.'

"I told you, the ones you gave me weren't enough." He whispered back. Sapphire pursed her lips, her brows lightly furrowed. Suddenly, the whole class was the same.

Scarlett was unaware of the situation happening, she stared confusedly. Was Nicolai experiencing some kind of asthma attack or episode?

"Sorry about that. Nicki hardly talks so I basically talk for him. He's pretty shy around people he doesn't know very well. But he'll try to get to know you. Right, Nicki?" The solemn-looking teen sighed dismally as a response.

"Right, Jamie was supposed to be here but he's not here due to a few—issues he had to deal with. But he'll come around. You can have a seat, Ms. Lax," Ada announced. The light steps of her boots echoed the now silent class of 5 students as she sat next to Danté on his far right.

Unaware to the gingerette girl, Gadiel turned over to Sapphire, who had a worried look for Nicolai. The blonde male firmly nodded, which Sapphire took as a signal and nodded back. The ravenette teacher meanwhile readjusted her glasses with only an index finger and glinting a shine from the gray weather outside.

'So this is Aurora's daughter. She certainly has her matured appearances, for a human...' Her lips pursed at the dangerous journey ahead for the young redhead.

Ada knew Garrix foresaw this. But whatever goes through those strict glasses of his, was an abyss of pure mystery. There were infinite windows, windows that foresaw many carnations.

What happens, what has happened, and what will happen.

But for Scarlett, what will happen was something that couldn't be foretold that simply. 'Who knows what sort of catastrophe awaits her? Poor child doesn't know that her life will never be the same here.' Ada quickly shrugged the thought and clasped her hands together along with a soft smile.

"Right, class. Shall we get started?"
