Darkness enveloped the Starfall Forest, its dense canopy casting deep shadows that seemed alive with mystery.

"Hoot! Hoot!"

The owls’ sharp cries pierced the serene stillness of the night, until the faint, rhythmic sound of footsteps broke through, rustling the brittle leaves and snapping dry twigs underfoot.

A creature of the night was running, darting through the dense woods of Auryn’s Starfall Forest.

Her breaths came in short, heavy bursts as she pushed herself to run faster. Her path led upward, toward the towering mountain that marked the border between the rival kingdoms of Auryn and Verena.

Finally, she reached the summit, her slender, golden form framed against the vast night sky. Rising onto her hind legs, the she-wolf tilted her head back and fixed her rare lavender eyes on the moon—a giant orb of silver light radiating an ethereal glow. Like a queen presiding over her celestial court, the moon stood sentinel among a sea of glittering stars, its presence both commanding and serene.

The she-wolf’s golden fur shimmered in the moonlight, each strand tousled gently by the cool spring breeze. Her lavender eyes, rare and striking, gleamed like polished gemstones, holding a hint of nervous excitement. Then, breaking the stillness of the silvery night, she raised her muzzle and released a tremulous howl—an announcement of her first transformation, filled with a mix of pride and vulnerability.

Her call was soon answered by others—howls echoing through the forest as her pack, the Golden Heart, celebrated her transformation and officially welcomed her into their fold.

“HOWWWWWLLLLLLLL!”

(Keir Allen Walker’s POV)

That scent.

I froze mid-step during my evening run, my senses suddenly overwhelmed. My breath hitched as my lycan growled low and impatient, straining against my control. The air carried an intoxicating aroma, so alluring and unfamiliar it made my pulse quicken.

Vanilla and lavender.

The tantalizing combination wrapped itself around me, sparking an ache in my chest and an inexplicable urgency within my beast. My lycan surged forward, compelled by the scent, leaving me struggling to hold him back as he chased it relentlessly.

“Damn it,” I muttered, my voice uneven. “What is this scent? It’s driving me insane.”

The primal side of me—a part I kept tightly restrained—had slipped its leash. My lycan ran without hesitation, each step taking us closer to the border of Verena, my territory. He stopped only when we reached the boundary, where Auryn’s land began. My chest heaved as I tried to calm him, but the scent grew stronger, wrapping around us like a spell, impossible to resist.

“Stop. You can’t cross the border,” I hissed, my voice laced with desperation.

But my lycan wasn’t listening. It growled, claws digging into the earth as it strained toward the other side. The scent tugged at something primal, filling me with a heat that bordered on agony. I tried to rein him in, but my body burned with a mix of need and confusion.

That’s when I saw her.

At the peak of the mountain, standing proud and golden in the moonlight, was a she-wolf. Her fur gleamed like molten gold, her delicate frame trembling slightly, yet she radiated a strange strength. Her lavender eyes—alive with an enchanting light—drew me in, and I stood frozen, captivated by her beauty.

My lycan growled again, its need for her insistent and overwhelming.

Who was she?

She didn’t notice me watching from the shadows. Instead, she tilted her head to the moon and let out a soft, unsteady howl. It was hesitant, almost shy—clearly the howl of a new wolf. A smirk tugged at my lips.

“A small wolf,” I muttered under my breath. “How can she make me feel this way?”

Yet, as her pack joined in celebration, their howls filling the night air, my lycan’s need deepened. His desire to claim her as ours—to mark her, to make her ours—was relentless. I fought it with everything I had, but even I couldn’t deny the pull.

There was something about her.

Her presence awakened a hunger I didn’t fully understand, a need so raw and consuming it made my skin burn. My thoughts turned dangerous, filled with forbidden fantasies of touching her, tasting her, hearing her call my name.

And then she was gone.

I was feeling restless, tormented but the mountaintop was empty. The golden she-wolf had vanished, leaving nothing but the faint traces of her intoxicating scent. My lycan roared in frustration, thrashing against the mental chains I used to restrain him. The ache of her absence settled heavily in my chest, and a low growl escaped my throat as I shifted back to human form.

I scanned the border, desperate for one last glimpse of her. The night felt colder now, its earlier beauty dimmed by her absence. My lycan whined and growled softly, still searching the air for her lingering scent.

Who was she?

The thought plagued me, even as I tried to dismiss the irrational pull she had over me. She couldn’t be my mate. It wasn’t possible. A pure-blood lycan couldn’t be fated to a weak, inexperienced she-wolf like her.

The idea alone made my jaw clench with anger.

“Impossible,” I muttered, though the word rang hollow in my ears.

Still, my lycan refused to let go. He sniffed the air, frantic, his obsession with her scent bordering on madness. That lingering aroma—the heady blend of vanilla and lavender—wrapped around me like a cruel reminder of what I couldn’t have.

“Scent of my sinful desire,” I whispered bitterly, without knowing it was going to be both my destruction and my redemption.

I read the first chapter and the premise is tried and tested but I seem to enjoy the flow that this goes with. Worth my time.

I should have known-”“Shh!”Pressing his finger gently to my lips, Keir whispered with that signature, charming smile of his, “Sorry is the last thing I want to hear from you tonight. Can I ask you something?”Curious, I nodded. “Yes?”“Will you stay with me tonight?”Before I could respond, his strong arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer. His emerald eyes locked with mine, and he whispered, his voice soft and warm, “Can I have you as my special gift, M’lady?”Even though I’d shared moments like this with Keir before, his words always made my heart race uncontrollably. His intense gaze was almost too much to bear. My cheeks burned with a blush I couldn’t hide, and I bit my lower lip shyly before nodding.“You can,” I replied softly, barely meeting his eyes. “It’s your birthday, after all. I should

(POV of Eliza Claire Gold)(One month later)“It’s so sunny today!”I dropped onto the cozy couch on the balcony of the little cottage nestled in the forest. Sweat trickled down my forehead, and my breath was uneven after a 10km run. Hearing footsteps behind me, I turned sharply, startled.“Sasha! When did you get here?” I asked, my face lighting up with a bright smile.Sasha sank onto the couch beside me, holding a cup of coffee. “I’ve been waiting for you for fifteen minutes. Where on earth were you so early in the morning?”“Oh, I was just bored staying inside,” I replied casually. Smiling brightly, I added, “Why don’t you stay with me today? I’ve been so lonely lately that I ended up teaching myself how to cook.”Laughing, Sasha raised an eyebrow. “Were those dishes even edible?”“Of course!” I said, puffing up my chest proudly. “Aunt Merry even complimented my cooking. I could cook lunch for you today if you want!”Throwing her hands up in surrender, Sasha exclaimed, “No way! We’r

(POV of Young Eliza Claire Gold)I somehow managed to stammer, "Y-You already have a mate! H-How can I-"Keir's arms tightened around me, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispered, "Yes, I do. "So, you want me because your Lycan desires me, is that it?"Keir chuckled low, a sound that sent a shiver down my spine. Before I could react, he spun me to face him. Are you sleepy?"It was close to midnight, but sleep was the last thing on my mind. Keir's presence had stolen any trace of tiredness. Keir and Kyrell were seated next to me.Dave, the host of the party, had stepped out for a moment to greet some VIP guests. The party downstairs on the ground floor was lively, but Keir had arranged a quiet meeting with Eden on the second floor of Dave’s resort to keep things private from the Lycans’ Kingdom. It wasn’t safe for me to leave the Lycans’ Kingdom to meet Eden, so they invited him here. Dave, Keir’s childhood best friend, was helping us in every possible way. At first, I had found Dave a bit strange, but he turned out to be the most welcoming host I’d ever met.I tugged on Eden’s sleeve and looked up at him with pleading eyes. “When will you come to see me again, Brother?”Eden gently patted my head, his voice kind. “Very soon, Eli.
