My Daughter

Charles White was on the way to the hospital to meet his daughter, who was in a coma. When he was about to enter the elevator, he got a call from his daughter's fiancé Alexander Smith; He told him the news he had wanted to hear for a long time. His daughter, Joanna, finally opened her eyes, which was an exhilarating moment for him. He shared this with his wife, who was along with him.

"Natasha, My daughter, Joanna, finally opened her eyes. The call was from Alexander, and he called me to give me this good news. I can't wait to see her." He said, brimming with joy. Hearing this news, his wife Natasha moved into tears. She was also following to meet their daughter today, and she got a piece of good news that she was waiting to hear, which made her contented. So She didn't mind how Charles again addressed Joanna as his daughter and always avoided her from their bond. After a month of long-suffering and never-ending bad experiences, they finally got good news today. Natasha didn't intend to spoil this beautiful moment with petty things.

"That is indeed fantastic news. Wow, I am so happy. Let's go there, don't waste our time. I can't wait to see my daughter now," Natasha White said as she hurried towards the elevator and urged Charles to follow her. She didn't notice how she addressed Joanna as her daughter without a problem, especially after that incident. Even though Charles noticed this, he chose to ignore that because he was too happy to argue that. It wasn't the first time Natasha did this, though.

"Yes, yes. Let's go," Charles said with a broad smile on his lips. It's been a long time, he smiled wholeheartedly. Today his daughter woke up from her sleep, a month-long sleep. He couldn't wait to witness the scene now and express his love for her.

They stepped into the elevator as fast as they could. It felt like a thousand years of the journey from there to the floor where their daughter was staying.

"Charles, what we will do if she asked about her ...." Natasha asked in a trembling voice. She was apprehensive about this thing. She was worried that Joanna was asking about a certain someone who would affect her health and others' feelings. After all, that person was once close to Alexander.

"Natasha, you shouldn't worry about that. Just relax. We will do something. All I want is my daughter should be healthy." Charles said. His voice carries some pain as well as some unfamiliar emotions. But his eyes were cold and fierce while his fits were balled on the side to control that emotional turbulence.

"I know. You love Joanna very much and want her happiness," Natasha said in a sad voice. She is trying to hide her pain, but she is obviously trying to say something else.

"Natasha, I know how much sad you are. But Joanna is like your daughter too. I wouldn't stop you from mourning your loss, but you should hide that from Joanna." Charles said in a firm voice. He tried to order her something even though his words were meant to comfort her. He wants her to stop thinking about the past and treat Joanna wholeheartedly.

"Charles, she is my daughter. I always treated her like that. I always loved her and am genuinely happy knowing she is awake," Natasha explained hurriedly. She wanted to prove that she was genuinely happy and concerned about Joanna.

"Hmm. I know you are a kind-hearted person and have always had a big heart. I am so lucky that you are my partner." Charles said with a smile, but something was hidden behind his dark eyes.

"Charles, thank you," Natasha said while looking at him with love in her eyes. Unfortunately, she failed to notice the abnormality in his attitude, or she didn't dare to show that she saw it.

The couples reached Joanna's room, but they heard something they least expected to hear. They never thought about this when they heard about their daughter waking up.

"Who am I?" Joanna's hoarse voice asked. Charles and Natasha were shocked to hear this question, especially Natasha. Natasha widened her eyes in horror. Her eyes filled with tears in no time, and she started trembling hard. Charles clutched his wife's hand for support because he couldn't keep his cool. He began to have heavy breathing due to the shock. A nurse handed him a glass of water, and he emptied it in one gulp, While Natasha leaned towards the wall to support her weight since she couldn't stand her own because of the shock she got.

Alexander was no exception; he was also shocked beyond imagination. He kept visiting this girl for the past month; he talked to her, took care of her, and spent most of the time with her, but she didn't even remember herself not saying about him. He felt like there was no meaning in living now. His heart tightened in his chest.

"Doctor, what is this? Why is she asking this? Didn't you tell me that she is fine?" Alexander asked in a trembling voice. He might be a tough person for the entire world but facing the reality that his beloved woman didn't remember him anymore, how he could maintain his posture of a high and mighty one? He became a helpless lover in an instant. This is the best hospital, and he arranged the best doctors for her, yet this happened.

"Alexander, please calm down. This sometimes happens. She was in a coma. Give her some time." Charles said, patting his back. Charles was the one who calmed down very quickly, and he comforted Alexander by standing next to him. Alexander realised what Charles wanted to say between the lines and nodded in affirmation. Then, he took deep breaths to calm himself down while looking at the perplexed girl lying on the bed helplessly.

"Yes, Mr Smith. Sometimes a temporary memory loss happens in these types of cases." Doctor Abel backed Charles with what he said. As a doctor, he expected this to happen because Joanna hurt her head badly in her accident.

"But..." Alexander felt like his world is crumbling down. He didn't expect this outcome. He tried to prevent any mistakes from happening, yet fate did its course to laugh upon him.

Joanna, who was on the bed, felt like her head was throbbing with pain. She asked them a question, and they were not answering her. Instead, they kept fighting with each other. Can't anyone answer her? She wanted to shout at them for ignoring her like this.

"Can anyone please tell me what is happening?" Joanna got upset by all this commotion. Here she was having difficulties uttering a word and couldn't move her body freely, but they were completely ignoring her. This made her furious beyond imagination. She thought she shouldn't have to wake up if these people didn't want to care for her.

"Miss. White, you were in a coma after a terrible accident for a month. You had a memory loss, I think. Maybe it's temporary. You don't have to worry about it; we will run a detailed check-up and determine what it is." Doctor Sean patiently explained to Joanna. He is a doctor, and he must make his patient feel comfortable.

"What is my name? How did I fall into a coma?" She asked, even though her throat felt itching and cracking. All she wanted to know was her identity. She couldn't even remember her own name; no one could imagine how frustrated she was and why these people couldn't understand what she was asking.

"You are my daughter Joanna White, and you fell into a coma after an accident. You were in a coma for last month," Charles White explained with a composed expression and, of course, with a lot of love.

"Oh," She nodded. Although the person who claimed to be her father wasn't a person that she could identify with at this moment, the genuine love in his eyes made her convinced that he was stating the truth. She glanced at Alexander, standing beside him, to confirm it. Alexander nodded, seeing her questioning gaze.

She felt fragile after waking up. Her exhausted expression didn't escape from Alexander. Instead, he looked at her with concern filled eyes. He was happy that she woke up and showed some belief in him by believing her father's statement only after he confirmed it.

"Joanna, you should rest now. We can talk after that," Alexander said to Joanna. He wants her to have a rest first. He also needs some time to digest this unexpected development. He needs to calm down before answering her. Otherwise, he may make her sad by showing his genuine emotions.
