Your Voice Encouraged Me

Thinking about the past incidents made Charles a little emotional. He stayed silent throughout the journey until they reached home. Natasha realised the gloomy mood of her husband and sighed. She could imagine how hard it hit him that Joanna chose to avoid him like that.

"Maybe she really couldn't remember anything. Otherwise, she would never avoid her father like that. She loves you the most." Natasha tried her best to comfort the sad man in front of her even though she knew he didn't like her bothering him.

"I am aware of Natasha's current situation, and I am a man; I know to handle my own emotions. However, you better control yours and don't do anything stupid. Make sure that you never dare to say anything unwanted in front of my precious daughter," As usual, he replied in a cold and heartless way without even looking at the pitiful woman standing there with a sad look.

"I won't say anything. So you won't have to worry." She tried to explain once again.

"Hmm", he nodded but didn't bother to continue.

Charles didn't stay there anymore and went back to his office. Natasha watched the merciless man driving away while a drop of tear fell from her eyes. He never considered her a human being; he never loved the baby she gave birth to either. Instead, he asks a mother to forget about her loss to ensure his daughter wouldn't feel troubled. Natasha stood there for a long time with an unreadable expression before turning back and going to her room.

.................

After half an hour, Joanna woke up from her nap and looked at the man sitting near her bed with a light smile. Seeing her waking up, he offered some water and made her comfortable by asking if she needed anything. Joanna shook her head and looked at him intently.

"Can I know your name?" She asked cautiously. There was an apology in her eyes.

"Please don't get offended; actually, I really didn't remember anything, " she clarified. She was afraid of him misunderstanding her.

"Alexander Smith," He said. He knew what she meant. He understood why she asked his name, and he didn't mind that. He was willing to give her how many answers she wanted for as long as possible.

"Huh" Hearing his reply, at first, Joanna didn't understand what he was trying to say. She looked at him with confusion on her face.

"My name is Alexander Smith," He said again, seeing her confused face. She looks so adorable like that. She smiled hearing that. Even though she was bedridden for one month, her skin was not as perfect and glowing as before but was still in good shape to catch someone's attention.

"Can I call you Alex?" She asked expectantly. Her big blue eyes are filled with innocence like a bit of a child.

"Of course, you can," Alexander said. He rubbed her hair in a doting manner and asked,

"Why Alex? You don't like my name?" He asked her.

"Don't know. I just feel like calling you Alex., If you want me to call you something else, I will call that," Joanna said.

"You can call me anything you want as long as you love that name," Alexander said with a smile. She used to call him Golden head, angry brat, spoiled baby, he really hated those names, but he was in love with her and too reluctant to say no to her. So he always allowed her to call him whatever she wanted.

"Did you daily visit me and talk to me so much?" She asked further.

"Hmm." He nodded.

"How do you know?" He asked with a frown.

"I used to hear a voice calling me to return to him; his voice really matched yours. I want to see the owner of that voice first when I woke up, and surprisingly my wish come true," She said.

Hearing this, he felt his heart swelling with happiness. How couldn't he always believe she heard him and even fought with others about this. Everyone told him to stop hallucinating because an unconscious person couldn't hear anything the others said; still, he believed in his heart and did what he wanted. Now he feels happy that she herself said she heard him when she was in a coma.

"You used to hear my voice? What do you hear from me?" Alex asked. He wanted to know what she really heard and how much she heard.

"You were encouraging me to fight against the darkness and came back to you," She said.

"Just that, nothing else?" Alex asked. He used to talk about everything, and she just remembered this, he thought.

"Alex, this is just what I remember now. Your voice kept me awake; your voice gave me the encouragement to hold on to my last hope and fight against the darkness around me. It gives me the strength to move forward. It reminded me that someone was waiting for me to wake up. It gave me the power not to give up," She said emotionally. Hearing her words, Alex felt speechless. He never thought his gesture did work magic on her. He is the reason why she got up. His heart filled with joy at the thought of that. His love is recognized by her even after she loses her own self. He caressed her face. He had an urge to kiss her, but he stopped himself on time. He didn't want to scare her. She lost her memories, but he didn't. He still remembers her words.

'I will share my first kiss with the man I love on our day of marriage, exactly when the priest will say now groom can kiss the bride.' It was always her dream. Due to this, he never tried to kiss her even though he wanted that badly. He will respect her wishes no matter what. If she wanted her first kiss on her special day, he would wait for that.
