The compiled report, meticulously detailed and featuring three distinct, color-coded charts, was placed on Sebastian’s desk at 11:58 A.M. Two minutes early. I hadn't paused once. My shoulders ached, my eyes burned, and my fingers felt raw from the relentless typing, but the sheer satisfaction of delivering perfection was its own reward.

Sebastian was on a call, his voice a low, clipped murmur that made it impossible to discern the subject, but the tension in the room was palpable. I didn’t dare interrupt. I simply placed the file precisely on the corner of his desk and retreated to my office without a word.

I was starving. I had skipped breakfast and the concentration required to synthesize months of complex financial data had drained my energy reserves. I grabbed my purse, planning a quick run to the nearest café—certainly not the one where I had met Isla, I needed to maintain distance from her now that I knew her relationship with Sebastian.

“Ms. Mcfeller.”

His voice, sharp and immediate, stopped me just as I reached my office door. I turned back. He had ended his call and was now leaning back in his chair, tapping a single, impatient finger on the cover of the report.

“You didn’t eat lunch yet,” he stated, his gaze fixed on my face, assessing my pale exhaustion. It wasn’t a question; it was an observation delivered with the detached air of someone commenting on the weather.

“I was about to go, Sir,” I replied, keeping my tone strictly professional, refusing to admit that his assignment had monopolized every second of my morning.

He waved a hand dismissively toward the report. “It’s adequate. Marginal, but adequate. Now, call the executive dining room. Have them send up two salads—the one with the grilled salmon—and two coffees. Black.”

I blinked. Two salads? Two coffees? He was ordering for both of us? The command was so unexpected, so completely contrary to his dismissive nature, that I almost stammered.

“I… I can go downstairs, Mr. Schulz. I don’t want to interrupt your workflow.”

“You are my secretary, Ms. Mcfeller. You are not paid to interrupt my workflow; you are paid to manage it. My schedule requires a working lunch. And I do not trust you to navigate the lower floors without causing an incident,” he said, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly, referencing the elevator incident. The arrogance was back, but this time, it was laced with a strange, possessive efficiency. “The call, Ms. Mcfeller. Now.”

Swallowing the retort about his manners, I did as instructed. Within fifteen minutes, a discreet delivery attendant wheeled in a trolley laden with two identical, gourmet meals. Sebastian didn't move from his desk. He simply pointed to the large, plush sofa on the left side of the room.

“Set it up there. We’ll review the afternoon schedule while we eat.”

So, I ate lunch with the devil. We sat on the massive leather couch, with the gleaming city stretching out behind us, discussing his afternoon appointments. He ate with the same focused intensity he applied to everything—silent, methodical, and entirely consumed by the business. He didn't ask personal questions, didn't offer any conversation beyond CazoS logistics, and yet, the proximity, the shared intimacy of a meal, felt overwhelmingly personal.

The next few weeks fell into a grueling, exhilarating pattern. Sebastian’s demands were relentless, his schedule impossible, his temperament volatile. He would go from glacial silence to explosive anger over a misplaced decimal point. He fired one assistant in his department for bringing him the wrong brand of mineral water, reinforcing the terror Zoey had warned me about.

Yet, I survived. More than that, I thrived. I learned his non-verbal cues—the slight tightening of his jaw meant impatience, the tapping pen meant he was waiting for a solution, not a problem. My "vigilance, proactive, and committed" mantra, which was mostly an exaggeration on my resume, became my reality. I quickly realized that his cold exterior was merely a shell he used to test people. If you met his efficiency, you earned a sliver of his silent respect.

I proactively reorganized his chaotic digital filing system, anticipating the reports he would need before he asked. I implemented a color-coding system for his calendar (blue for legal, red for hostile takeovers, green for social obligations) that he initially scoffed at but quickly relied upon.

He never praised me. His highest compliment was usually a curt, "Adequate. Now, the next task." But one day, after I had deftly handled a demanding client who tried to bypass his schedule, he simply looked at me and said, "Efficient." The word felt warmer than any full paragraph of praise.

The downside was the possessiveness. His demand that I be the sole manager of his immediate space was absolute. He often required me to work late, sometimes past midnight, and insisted his private driver—who was armed and silent—take me home, regardless of my protests. It felt less like protection and more like surveillance. I knew he was obsessed with control, and I was now firmly within his sphere.

My only contact with the outside world, besides my routine calls with my friends, was a single, chance encounter.

One Friday, as I was waiting for Sebastian’s driver downstairs, scrolling through my phone, I heard a familiar, confident voice.

“Khloe? Audrey-Khloe?”

I looked up. Standing there, effortlessly stunning in a fitted, designer dress, was Isla. Sebastian’s twin sister. Phoenix Haylen Isla.

“Isla! I—I can’t believe it’s you! How are you?” I managed, forcing a relaxed smile, hoping she hadn't connected the dots between 'Audrey-Khloe the friendly stranger' and 'Audrey-Khloe the new executive secretary at CazoS.'

Isla laughed, stepping closer. "Small world! I had a meeting here this afternoon. I haven't seen you since we had lunch, and you never returned my call."

I winced inwardly. I had ignored her call, terrified that connecting with Sebastian's family would compromise my anonymity. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Isla! Things have been hectic. I just started a new job."

Isla's sharp eyes narrowed slightly, sweeping over my professional attire and my access badge, which was clipped neatly to my blazer. She read the name tag: Audrey Mcfeller.

"Wait. You work here? At CazoS? What do you do?"

"I'm Mr. Schulz's secretary," I admitted, bracing for the inevitable twin connection.

Isla’s reaction was delayed, a slow, predatory grin spreading across her face. "You work for Sebastian? That cold-hearted, demanding devil?"

She let out a peal of genuinely amused laughter, the sound echoing lightly in the marble lobby. “Oh, that’s rich. He hasn’t fired you yet? You must be a miracle worker. Most of his secretaries last less than a week. And you survived the infamous Cora.”

“Cora?” I asked, remembering Sebastian’s ex-secretary, the one he had fired after a 'makeout session.'

“Cora Valentina. She was beautiful, but clingy and useless. Sebastian despises women who confuse a fling with a lifetime commitment. They all try to get into his pants, and then they try to claim his heart. Cora was the worst. She tried to ruin him after he fired her. You must be doing something right if you replaced her.” Isla leaned in conspiratorially. “Just be careful, Khloe. Sebastian is your typical bad boy. He’s cold, ruthless, and he will use you for your efficiency and then toss you aside the moment you show a hint of emotional attachment.”

Her warning was delivered with genuine sisterly concern, but it felt hollow. I was already walking that tightrope, feeling the impossible magnetic pull toward the man who despised love.

“I only care about my paycheck and my independence, Isla. Nothing more,” I lied easily, the words smooth and practiced.

Isla smiled knowingly. “Good. Keep it that way. Come to my apartment for drinks next week. We can talk about how to survive my twin.” She scribbled an address on a small card and pressed it into my hand.

I watched her walk out, her presence already forgotten by the security guards. I was left standing there, the realization dawning: the professional wall between my new life and Sebastian's real life was rapidly dissolving. I was friends with his twin sister. I was surviving the CEO who couldn't tolerate emotional clutter.

And somewhere, in the shadows, Griffin was still out there, waiting for the moment my professional life would merge irrevocably with my dark, dangerous past. The calm was an illusion. The storm was coming.

The days leading up to Elias Mcfeller's arrival were a period of intense, focused preparation, blurring the line entirely between our professional strategy and our personal reality. We were building an impenetrable fortress of legal and financial control to present to my father, and in doing so, we were solidifying the very foundations of our relationship. The CazoS tower became our war room. Sebastian and I worked side-by-side in my new executive suite, the atmosphere charged with the pressure of the impending confrontation. We were meticulously crafting the terms of our unified front, defining what we would give Elias Mcfeller—and more importantly, what we would absolutely deny him.The negotiation focused on integrating the Mcfeller family's global shipping network with CazoS's logistical technology. Elias wanted a merger; we were planning a carefully controlled acquisition of his strategic assets."He will demand a seat on the CazoS board and a significant stake, Khloe," Sebastian

The shift in my position from the invisible secretary to the Chief Strategic Analyst (CSA) and fiancée of Sebastian Schulz was immediate, profound, and strategically necessary. Sebastian did not handle transitions subtly; he implemented them with decisive finality. The day after Griffin's arrest, Sebastian summoned the entire CazoS executive board—minus the handful of executives who had been too closely tied to Griffin's political influence—to the corporate headquarters. I walked into the mahogany-lined boardroom, not as the woman serving coffee, but as Sebastian's equal partner, the massive diamond on my finger flashing under the recessed lighting. The board meeting was less a discussion and more a declaration. Sebastian introduced me by my full, correct name, Khloe Mcfeller, and publicly detailed my new role."Khloe's mandate is simple," Sebastian informed the stunned board members, his voice carrying absolute authority. "She identified the generational fraud that nearly destroyed Ca

The marble hall of the federal courthouse was still a swirling vortex of flashbulbs and shouted questions, but for Khloe and Sebastian, the noise had receded to a dull, distant roar. They stood together, the air thick with the silent finality of their decision.Sebastian’s hand remained on mine, no longer a gesture of command, but of grounding. The diamond ring, once a symbol of his control, was now a tangible promise of shared future."Let's get out of here," Sebastian said, his voice low and private amidst the chaos. He didn't ask for a confirmation of my choice; my hand still clutching the ring was the only answer he needed. We were swept out of the courthouse by his security detail, maneuvering through the stunned media and the lingering scent of crisis. We were taken not to the CazoS tower, but back to the isolation of the Schulz penthouse. The corporate battlefield was closed; the personal confrontation was about to begin. The penthouse was eerily silent. Isla had remained at the

The massive oak doors of the courthouse parted, and we stepped into the eye of the storm. The main hall was a chaotic swarm of media personnel, security details, and plainclothes federal agents. The noise was deafening—a cacophony of camera shutters and shouted questions.Sebastian didn't pause. His hand remained a solid, commanding weight on the small of my back, guiding me with a singular, unwavering stride. My heart hammered against my ribs, but the commitment in his touch, and the pressure of the diamond on my finger, lent me a defiant strength. I was the protective lie, and I would not fail my mission.Griffin Patterson stood near a group of lawyers by a marble pillar further down the hall, his back to the wall, his face a mask of cold fury. He was addressing a knot of microphones, still frantically trying to spin his narrative of persecution. He saw us immediately. His voice hitched in his throat, and the frantic energy of his defiance vanished, replaced by sheer, blinding hatred

The urgency of the extraction gave way to the tense, relentless pressure of legal warfare as Sebastian's private jet tore through the atmosphere toward a secure staging area in New York. We were no longer evading; we were preparing to deliver the killing blow.Isla, using the detailed evidence provided by Marcus Thorne, initiated the process for an immediate arrest warrant for Griffin Patterson on charges of accessory to murder, obstruction of justice, and corporate fraud. The legal team, working remotely and shielded from public view, also filed motions to seize all liquid assets tied to the Albatross Trust and the suspended shares of Patterson Inc.The cabin was silent, save for the constant tapping of keyboards and the clipped, professional exchange of information. Marcus Thorne, still on the secure line from the submarine tender, began dictating his full affidavit, providing the clean, undeniable testimony needed to end Griffin's reign.I sat with Sebastian, reviewing the financial

The immediate moment the jet's wheels lifted off the private Bahamian airstrip was a brutal, jarring contrast. One minute, we were in a life-or-death tactical scramble; the next, we were hurtling toward American airspace, the low hum of the engines the only sound besides our ragged breathing and the faint crackle of the secure comms. The tension in the cabin was thick enough to choke on. The reality of the extraction had been successful, but the cost—that devastating, publicly broadcast kiss—had just rewritten the emotional contract between Sebastian and me.Sebastian moved with the same efficient coldness he always maintained, but his movements were tighter, charged with barely suppressed adrenaline. He immediately initiated contact with his security chief on the surface vessel, confirming that Marcus Thorne was secure and en route to a rendezvous point with a CazoS submarine tender for transport back to a secured location in the U.S."Thorne is safe," Sebastian stated, finally breaki
