Chapter 15

Alpha Mark

I couldn’t help but listen, I knew it was wrong but I needed to know what was happening. I have so many conflicted feelings now. Happy that I have found my mate, sad about what she has been through and that she is not sure about being my mate. Angry at what her previous mate did to her. My wolf wanted to tear his throat out. I stood in the background and watched as she left with her grandparents and her father. I didn’t know what her father was planning but if he asked to join our pack I would allow it in a heartbeat. Anything to make my mate happy. I was determined to prove to her that I was nothing like her previous mate and would treat her like the queen she deserved to be treated like.

“There you are! I have been looking everywhere for you. Why are you not socializing with everyone? Everyone has asked about you!” My mother said from behind me. I sighed internally.

“Sorry mum. I’ll make the rounds now.” I said to her.

“What’s going on? Don’t try and pretend like nothing is wrong. I know you well enough to know there is something wrong.” She said, blocking my escape. My dad smirked from behind her. I wanted to roll my eyes at him.

“I found my mate.” I told her.

“Oh my goddess! That’s fantastic! Where is she?” She exclaimed, looking around the area.

“She left with her grandparents and father.” I said.

“What? Why? You need to go after her! What pack is she from?” My mother said.

“She’s from our pack. It’s the new member.” I told her. A knowing look crossed her eyes and then was gone. My dad looked in the direction they had left in.

“Ah. Well I guess that will take some special care then. You better treat her right. She has been through way too much.” my mother told me sternly.

“Of course mother. I fully intend to treat her like the queen she deserves to be treated as.” I told her. She knew this, of course. She knows how long I have waited for my mate and how seriously I took it. We left the conversation at that. Going around and talking to visiting alphas and betas and their families but not being able to give my full attention as I was thinking about my mate. As the evening was winding down I slipped out and made my way to my car. Too many alphas were trying to throw their daughters at me in an attempt to create an alliance. Being one of the biggest and strongest packs it would make sense. However, they all knew I was waiting for my mate. She was all. I could think about. I wanted to just go to her and hold her but I did not want to scare her off. Instead I went to the packhouse. After parking my car I went inside and headed towards the stairs to go to the alpha floor and to my bedroom. I reached the top floor and ran into my Beta.

"Hello Alpha." he said. Beta Jack was my best friend. He and gamma Justin. I grew up with the two of them. Their parents were the Beta and Gamma's to my father. Our families had always been close, going back many generations. Our pack was one of the very first packs to be created.

"Hello Jack. How's it going?" I asked him.

"Good. I got out of that party as soon as I could. Far to many daughters trying to make their way up the ranks." He said. I nodded in agreement.

"I found my mate." I told him. I could see the excitement in his eyes. He knew how long I had been waiting and he had been by my side at all the events we went too while i was searching for her.

"That's great man! Where is she?" he replied, looking around. I should expect that reaction. In a normal situation mates have a hard time leaving each other when they first find one another.

"It's the newest pack member. The one you called me about." I sighed. It was disappointing that she was not with me at that moment but i knew the situation and I could only hope that she would be by my side and not reject me. The look on my Beta's face did not help the situation any.

"That's going to be tough man. I heard what happened." He said.

"Yea. Well anyway. I am going to go to bed." I told him. We parted ways to our separate rooms. I changed into a pair of boxer shorts and a t-shirt. I grabbed the remote to my tv and a bottle of water. Picking up my cell phone i flopped onto my king sized bed. I turned on the tv to some comedy movie to play in the background and started scrolling through the social media on my phone. My mind kept drifting to my mate. I wondered what she was doing right now. I looked her up on social media and found her profile. I scrolled through her feed and pictures. She was absolutely beautiful and I couldn't fathom how anyone could want to hurt her. I sent her a friend request and it wasn't even 2 minutes later that it was accepted. She was online at that very moment. I got all excited that she accepted my friend request.

"Calm down. That doesn't mean anything." Zorro said in my head. I scoffed at him. I knew he was right but I didn't want to listen to him. I was scrolling through her page when my phone notified me of a message from the social media app. I opened it up and saw that it was a message from my mate. That had my attention for sure.
