chapter 16

OAKLEY

Once we got to my grams house I said goodnight to my grandparents and dad and then went up to my room. I changed into pajamas and washed my face. I threw my hair up into a messy bun. Once I was all ready I grabbed a bottle of water and my cellphone and crawled into bed. I knew I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on any of the books I would normally read before bed and my mind was all over the place so I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep right away. Of course haven wasn’t helping any of that. She just kept going on about our mate and how handsome he was and how I needed to give him a chance. I got comfy in the bed and opened up my social media app. I noticed that I had a new friend request so I opened it up to see it was from alpha mark. I accepted it and then looked through his pictures and profile. He was incredibly handsome. I knew that I was going to have to talk to him and I didn’t think I wanted to reject him. But did I have what it took to be a Luna?

“Of course you do. The moon goddess would not have paired us with an alpha if we didnt have what it takes. You will be a great Luna and I will be with you every step of the way.” Haven said.

“Thank you Haven. I know I am hesitant about accepting a second chance mate but I think I will give it a chance.” I respond to her. I can just see her wagging her tail, tongue flopping out of her mouth. I knew she was happy about that. I went to the messenger of the social media app and clicked on alpha marks name so I could send him a message. I did feel bad about running off earlier and wanted to apologize for it.

Oakley: Hello Alpha

Oakley: I am sorry for running off the way I did earlier. It was a bit rude of me and I feel pretty bad about it.

i wasn’t expecting a response right away so when I saw the chat bubble that indicated he was typing I got butterflies in my stomach. I had never been nervous like this before. Was he mad? Would he accept my apology? I could only hope so.

Mark: good evening. Do not apologize. You were scared and I completely understand. I know what you have been through and how horrible it must have been but I want you to know that I am absolutely nothing like your ex. I take the mate bond seriously. It is a gift from the goddess and I do not intend to throw away such a gift. I can promise you that I will treat you like a queen if you give me the chance to show you.

All I could do was smile at his message. I was scared but I think I wanted to give it a try.

Oakley: thank you for understanding. I think that I would like to give it a try but I will want to take it slow to start. I know you’re an alpha and you will be under a lot of pressure to have your Luna as soon as possible. I will do what is needed to learn the responsibilities but I can’t promise I will be very good at it.

I was rambling. I knew it. I was nervous and when I was nervous I would ramble.

Mark: I understand. I am glad that you are willing to give me a chance. Would you like to meet for lunch tomorrow? I can’t promise my mother won’t try and impose and you have already met my father but I will try to make it so it is just the two of us. We can take some time to get to know each other and just talk. No pressures or anything.

All I could think about was how perfect this man was. I just hoped it wasn’t just words to get me into bed.

oakley: sure. That sounds good.

Mark: great! Let’s meet at the pack house at noon?

Oakley: okay. I will be there.

Mark: I can’t wait. :)

Oakley: me too. I should go to bed though. I was told I should go to training in the morning so they can evaluate what I have learned and such.

Mark: okay. Good night beautiful.

Oakley: goodnight.

I put my phone on the charger and laid back in the bed. all I could do was smile and while that made me nervous I was also excited. I could only hope that things would work out for the better. after some struggle I was finally able to get some sleep.

(The next morning)

The sound of the alarm on my phone woke me. It was annoying and i felt like i had not gotten enough sleep. I could smell the coffee and breakfast that I knew my grams was preparing for my grandfather and myself to have before training. I would be going with my grandfather to training while grams went to work.

I rolled out of bed and changed into a pair of black yoga pants and a pink fitted tank top. Throwing on my old shoes for training and fixing my hair I was ready. I went to the restroom and brushed my teeth and relieved myself. Then I headed downstairs to the kitchen. My grandfather and grams were both sitting at the table eating some breakfast.

“Good morning dear.” My grams smiled at me. “Did you sleep okay?” She asked.

“once I was finally able to get to sleep then yes I did. I feel like I have not gotten enough sleep though.” I told her as I grabbed a coffee mug and poured some coffee into it. I added a little bit of creamer and stirred it up before sitting at the table. My grandfather handed me a plate and I started adding food to it. Pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and fruit. As a werewolf we had fantastic metabolisms and could eat whatever we wanted.

“That’s understanding. It was a very emotional evening. A lot happened. Today is just an assessment of your training so you can come back here and take a nap after.” My grandfather said.

“Actually I am having lunch with the alpha today. I will be coming back here to shower and change but I am meeting him at the pack house at noon.” I said while looking down at my food. I am sure I was blushing as well.

“Oh that’s great dear!“ my grandmother exclaimed. I knew she would be happy about this. we continued to eat and made small talk while we ate. Nothing more about my lunch of the previous night. After we helped with the cleaning of the dishes it was time for my grandfather and I to head to the training field.
