Chapter 19

Mark

(The previous night)

She said yes to lunch! I was so excited that I wanted to dance around my room. I didn’t care how silly I looked. Zorro was prancing around inside my head. Once we calmed down I mindlinked the head cook to let her know I was having a private lunch in my office the next day and to have the lunch delivered there. I decided to mind link my beta so that he could handle anything that happened or was needed while I was on the lunch.

“Jack, can you please handle any pack issues that might come up tomorrow at lunch time please. I will be having a private lunch in my office.” I asked him.

“Sure boss. Is it with another alpha? Anything I need to be informed about?” He inquired.

“No. I will be having lunch with my mate.” I informed him.

“well thats awesome dude, congrats. I hope it works out well. You can count on me to take care of things during your lunch.” He said. We chatted for a few more moments before going to bed. It was a restless night. I was really excited for the following day. I finally fell asleep around 2 am.

(The next morning)

My alarm goes off at 6. I get out of bed and change into some work out clothes so I can go for my morning run before my day starts. I throw on a pair of sweatpants and a plain black shirt. Making my way out of my door and down to the back door so I can sneak out without anyone stopping me. I like to get a run in when I first wake up. Some people like coffee, which i do as well, but I like to run first thing. I feel like it gives me so much energy.

I reach the tree line and start jogging into the forest on a path that goes through the woods. It was cleared to be a walking path so the teachers and parents could take the pups out into the forest and let them explore, learn some things and get some exercise.

I can smell the fresh morning air mixed with pine trees and a creek nearby. The birds are chirping and the sun has just risen so the sky is a mixed shade of pinks and oranges. Mornings like these have me so thankful for the life I live, the area I live in and for my pack and family I have surrounding me on a daily basis. i am hoping to one day share this with my mate.

I pick up the pace from a light jog to a run. I set a pace and try to stick to it. I decide to veer off the path and head across the woods to the training grounds and see how things are going there. Sometimes I like to watch from within the woods at the edge of the field. It gives me the opportunity to see how the warriors are doing and the newly shifted wolves as well without them being intimidated by my presence or feeling the need to show off. i find a decent spot to watch from comfortably, perched on a giant boulder that is almost built like a chair with a few smaller ones scattered around it. I look over towards the field just in time to see my mate arrive with her grandfather. I immediately want to go to her but hold myself back, not wanting to scare her. This would be a great opportunity to see her skills as well.

I watch as they all chat for a few moments and then I see the head trainer call out to a she-wolf named serenity. I was not a fan of her at all. She kept trying to make advances at me and was always trying to flirt with me. I always turned her down and never led her on, letting her know I was waiting for my mate. She was hoping I would take her as a chosen mate but even if I never found my mate and was forced to take a chosen it would not be her. Pushing those thoughts away i see serenity and Oakley walk out onto the field. I watch as Oakley very easily kicks serenity's ass. When I see serenity attack Oakley after the fight was called done I became very angry. I saw Oakley handle it and also saw that Greg had words with serenity as well. I would be having some words with her later on.

I know the next portion of the evaluation is her wolf form and zorro and I are both incredibly excited to see her wolf. We had hoped the first time would be together but I knew that could take a while so I would take what I could get. I see her approach the group from the break they had given her and when they call over Bethany, one of our best warrior she wolves I am happy. I know that Bethany will not pull the same crap that serenity did. They disappear into the shifting building and a few moments later I see Bethany’s wolf come out. Her wolf is an average brown wolf. A little bit bigger then an omegas wolf because she is a warrior but nothing like and alpha or betas wolf size. But what I see next I was completely unprepared for. They had told me that Oakleys wolf was special and not like an average wolf. I had seen pictures of her mothers wolf but did not put them together.

From out of the building emerged a massive, beautiful pure white wolf. She has to be as big as zorro. The sun is shining down on her and she prances over to where the others stand. I can see everyone else on the field has stopped what they were doing to stare at her. I understood why. It was not that common for a she wolf to be as big as an alpha, even an alpha born female was not as big. Bigger than normal but more like a betas size. None of them have ever seen a pure white wolf either. They had heard the stories about them. They were a very rare sight and they were known to be special, magical in a way.

I watch as bethany and Oakley walk out to the field. They just stand there facing each other for a few moments before they finally move to fighting poses.

“Tracy needed to be convinced to fight. Mates wolf is like royalty and you will find that a lot of wolves will have a hard

time going against her.“ Zorro said in my mind. That did explain why it took them a few moments to begin. The fight doesn’t last very long and I am not at all surprised that Oakleys wolf wins. She is twice the size of Bethany’s wolf and very well built. She must have had quite a bit of training in her previous pack. I do remember being told that she wasn’t allowed to shift much though.

I looked at my watch and as much as I wanted to stay there and see what else might happen I knew I needed to get back to the pack house and prepare for lunch with our mate. I climbed off the boulder I was sitting on and made my way into the woods. I cut through the woods instead of taking the path, jumping over fallen logs and avoiding trees and bushes. It doesn’t take long before I see the pack house coming into view.

I slip inside the back door so that I can avoid being seen. Making my way upstairs to the alpha floor I make a mental note to make sure my office is clean and there isn’t any important paperwork on my desk. Once I reach my room and am inside I strip out of my dirty clothes and head straight into the massive bathroom. Turning on the shower I jump in and wash myself up. I try to make it a quick shower without thinking about my mate while I’m in there so I am not delayed. once I’m all washed up I turn off the shower and dry off. Then I head to my walk in closet to find clothes. I have no idea what to wear. I don’t want to seem too formal but I also don’t want to look sloppy and lazy. I finally settle on a nice pair of blue jeans and a button down red top. once I am all dressed I make my way down to my office so I can prepare it for lunch. I am so excited you would think I was a little school girl about to have lunch with her crush.
