Chapter 1

[Daisy's POV]

"I, Alpha Chase Howler of Redstone Pack, hereby reject Daisy Whiteclaw as my mate."

The moment Chase's words were out of his mouth, my wolf let out a blood-curdling howl, and a soul-rending pain exploded in my chest at once.

We had been entangled with each other for five years, all day and night, and even though we never formally marked each other, Chase and I were already basically inseparable.

The soul-crushing pain caused me to scream and howl aloud before collapsing onto the ground, blood gushing from my mouth.

Meanwhile, Chase only swayed ever so slightly, his face turning pale for a slight moment before he quickly returned to normal.

After all, he was a powerful Alpha, and I was just a mere healer. And so, I was the one who had to bear the vast majority of the pain from this backlash.

"Chase…"

I opened my mouth slightly, feeling how parched my throat was. "You will regret this… It really was me back then—"

"That's enough!" Chase said at once, interrupting me in disgust. He then lifted his foot and stomped heavily on the back of my hands. The pain from all ten of my fingers and my palms was so intense that it made me scream out loud once again.

"Don't you dare try to use moral blackmail on me just because we slept together a few times in the past."

He then lowered his voice and spoke contemptuously. "We're all adults now, and you know that it was all just a matter of physical needs. Did you think that I had to mark you just because I slept with you a couple of times? Since when did you become such a cheap whore, Daisy Whiteclaw?"

He continued looking at me with a mocking smile on his face.

"I only trust my own feelings. Bella understands me more than anyone else. She loves me and would even give up her life for me! But what about you?

"All you do is wear that stern face of yours while you make me handle the pack affairs. I'm the Alpha of the pack, Daisy, not your damn subordinate! I feel like I'm serving a sentence whenever I'm with you!"

I felt my heart sinking completely.

So, all of my sacrifices and contributions to the pack were seen as me being bossy and rigid.

The scars I got from saving his life, while nearly losing mine in the process, were seen as ugly in his eyes.

Even the countless sleepless nights I spent helping him secure his position as Alpha were seen as shackles and constraints to him.

Bella Hooks gently tugged on Chase's sleeve and spoke in a gentle manner.

"Don't be like that, Chase. Daisy just loves you too much. I love you very much too, and my heart breaks for you every time, but I don't want to see Daisy get hurt like this."

While speaking, large tears began sliding down her cheeks.

"I'm willing to leave the pack on my own and die in the hands of the Rogues if need be…"

Chase immediately cupped Bella's face in his palms with a heartbroken expression on his face.

"How could I possibly let you die like that? If anything, she's the one who should die instead!"

Chase then turned to me, the tenderness in his eyes immediately being replaced with a sharp, blade-like gaze.

"Heard that, Daisy? This is what sets Bella apart from you! She's always thinking about you, while all you think about is being the next Luna of the pack!"

I lay on the ground, looking at the two hypocritical wolves and suddenly found it extremely amusing.

Three years ago, Chase had been ambushed by several Rogues and severely poisoned by them. I was the one who carried him on my back in the heavy blizzard for two days and and two nights.

I even dug through the hard layer of ice on the ground with my bare hands just to dig out the wolfweed antidote buried deep beneath the frozen ground to save his life. I clawed at the ice so hard until my nails broke and fingers turned bloody, and yet, I hadn't felt a thing then.

Finally, I even exhausted the last bit of my energy to bring out the lifesaving wolfweed effects and guide it into Chase's body, forcibly yanking him back from the brink of death.

And where had Bella been at that time? She was huddled up in the warmth back in the pack, deathly afraid of being infected as well.

When I finally saved Chase's life and passed out myself, she ended up staying next to his bed for half a day, and thus, the first one he saw when he finally woke up was her.

Naturally, he assumed that Bella was the one who had saved his life.

I tried explaining myself to him after that, but Chase accused me of being jealous of Bella and trying to steal her credit for something like this.

Ever since then, I'd kept my mouth shut about it.

I thought that Chase would eventually understand my sacrifice one day, but as it turned out, the blind could never be cured after all.

It didn't make sense for me to continue explaining myself any further anyway. The Daisy who would have willingly given up her life for him had died on the altar the moment she was rejected.

"Well, since you've already chosen her, then there's nothing more for me to say," I said.

I didn't want to look at them anymore. So, I endured the excruciating pain of having my soul torn apart and turned to leave.

"Stand right there! Who said that you could leave? You made Bella cry. Apologize to her this instant!"

I was so mad that I began to tremble.

"You rejected me for her in public, making me suffer from the pain of the rejection. And now, you're even forcing me to apologize to your mistress?"

"It seems like I've been spoiling you too much lately," Chase said, the last of his patience vanishing from his eyes. "Since you refuse to repent, then let me teach you some ground rules."

He looked down on me while making his cold declaration.

"Let this be known that Daisy Whiteclaw shall be stripped of all her status, title, and honors. Her punishment shall be kneeling before the altar for as long as I say so. Nobody is to give her any food or water in the meantime!"

He then looked at my disheveled appearance, soaked in blood, and sneered at me contemptuously, uttering the words that shattered my heart to pieces.

"You will only be allowed to get up when you apologize to Bella."

A few months later, I heard about what happened to Chase and Bella. After Chase was stripped of his Alpha title, his wolf went into a deep slumber, and he turned into a useless werewolf who couldn't transform into his wolf form anymore.Instead, he wandered along the borders of Redstone Pack like a lost soul while constantly muttering my name. The pack treated him like he was insane, avoiding him like the plague.Meanwhile, Bella became a Rogue wolf after getting banished from the pack. Since she lacked combat skills but still had her looks with her, she quickly became a plaything for the other Rogue wolves in the wild.It was said that the last time anyone saw her was in a swamp, her body torn apart beyond recognition by hungry beasts. However, I felt no emotions for their fates. They were simply reaping what they'd sown, and I had plenty of better things to do than worry about them.As the Luna of Snowlight Pack, I was kept busy as I had my work cut out for me.I started a ne

The Redstone Pack elders looked travel-worn. They wore solemn expressions on their faces as they approached. The Head Elder, Dwayne Rockbite, immediately bowed respectfully as soon as he saw me."Daisy—Luna Daisy."The rest of the Elders behind him also bowed their heads in unison. Their display surprised me very much."What brings you all here?" I asked.Dwayne sighed, his face filled with shame as he said, "We've come to apologize to you. Chase… He's no longer fit to be the alpha of Redstone Pack."As it turned out, Chase had completely changed after returning. He'd fallen into complete despair, spending his days drinking heavily and neglecting all of the pack affairs. The pack Elders couldn't tolerate it anymore and convened a pack meeting, unanimously deciding to strip Chase of his pack Alpha position."It's all our fault. We failed to discipline Chase properly, causing you to suffer so much injustice," Dwayne said before trying to get down on his knees before me.I hurrie

Kyle and Ryan immediately stopped and retreated to my side like two loyal guardians.I then slowly walked up to Chase, looking down on him.He had returned to his human form and was now lying sprawled on the ground in a disheveled state. He looked up at me with the ecstatic joy of finally regaining something he'd lost."Daisy! I knew that you still cared about me—""I just didn't want your blood to stain their land."My icy words landed on Chase like a bucket of cold water right in his face, extinguishing whatever burning passion he had left. His face turned deathly pale."Daisy! I was wrong. I had been wrong the entire time! Won't you please forgive me? Come back with me, and I'll mark you immediately and make you my Luna!"He reached out to grab me. However, Ryan blocked him and grabbed him by the wrist instead."This is not the place where you can do as you wish."However, Ryan's words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Chase continued staring at me imploringly while repeating

[Daisy's POV]I spent half a month in Snowlight Pack.Things here were completely different from the rumors and legends that everyone else had heard about. There was no bloodshed or brutality anywhere. Rather, there was just strict discipline and perfect order.Kyle and Ryan were very strong and powerful, but they gave me ample space and respect. They never forced me to fulfill any of my obligations as their Luna. They simply cared for me silently and helped my wounds heal instead. My body recovered quickly with their help. However, my wolf still showed no signs of awakening.I know that it was because of a wound in my heart.Chase and Bella's betrayal had been like a poisonous thorn, embedding deeply into my soul. One day, I was reading in the Moon Goddess Temple gardens when Ryan came over to me."Have you been feeling any better lately?" he asked, handing me a warm mug of Soulmoon wine.I nodded. "Thank you."He suddenly looked at me seriously and said, "Daisy, I know that

"Let my order be known!"Chase's voice was hoarse yet resolute."Bella stole the rightful credit from other wolves' work and deceived the Alpha. From today onward, she will be expelled from Redstone Pack immediately, never to set foot within the pack ever again!"To be exiled meant being a Rogue, and to Bella, that meant certain death. She collapsed onto the ground, staring at him in disbelief."No, Chase! You can't do this to me! I love you!"However, he didn't even spare her a glance. Instead, he turned to Liam and gave out his next order."Summon all the pack warriors at once and find Daisy! I don't care if you have to turn the entire forest upside down, but you must find her!"Then, Chase rushed into the blizzard like a wolf gone berserk. He had to find Daisy. He had to find her and kneel before her and beg for her forgiveness. However, the pack searched almost every inch of the territory for Daisy for a full month, yet they couldn't find a single trace of her anywhere.

Chase staggered as he took a step back. Then, he turned on his heels and ran back frantically, shoving open Bella's bedroom door.Bella had been in the middle of trying on a magnificent jewel crown in front of the mirror, an accessory that could only be worn by the pack's Luna."Chase! Do you think I look good in this?" she asked, looking at him with a coquettish smile on her face.Yet, Chase grabbed her by the wrist, his eyes chillingly cold."What was the name of the antidote herb that you used to save me three years ago?"Bella's smile froze."Why are you suddenly asking me this, Chase? It… It's been such a long time. I… I don't remember the name anymore.""You don't remember?" Chase echoed with a cold laugh. "Then do you remember where the herb had been growing? Where does it usually grow? What are its features?"She immediately darted her eyes away as she stammered, "It was too dark, and the snow fell too heavily back then. I really don't remember—""That's enough!"Ch
