Chapter 2

Author: Barky Biscuit
The winter night wind sliced through the air like the merciless blade of a knife.

I remained kneeling before the altar, my knees having gone numb long ago.

I didn't have a single drop of water nor a bite to eat for the past three days and nights, and my consciousness was beginning to fade.

Later, on the third night, Bella came to visit me.

"Still kneeling, Daisy?"

She was wearing the white fox fur coat that I had personally made for Chase myself.

Now that Chase wasn't next to her, her usual frightened and pitiful expression was long gone from her face. Instead, she looked smugly and maliciously at me as she walked up to me, looking down at me at the altar.

"Chase felt sorry for me and was worried that I'd catch a cold, so he gave me this white fur coat. He said that you're hardy enough to tough it out on your own, and kneeling for a few days will teach you a lesson."

I looked up at her with my blurry vision, yet I could still catch the mockery in her eyes.

My voice was hoarse as I said, "We grew up together, Bella. I've never done anything wrong to you."

She used to be an orphan, and I'd begged Dad to take her in in the past, raising her like she was my younger sister. I was also the one who had introduced Chase to her.

Bella crouched over and scoffed.

"You never did anything wrong? You were the proud daughter of a high-ranking Elder, and I was nothing but an orphan living under someone else's roof. You made me wear your old clothes and made me eat your leftovers. And you still dare to say that you've been treating me well?

"I hate how hypocritical you and your kindness are."

She then leaned closer to me and whispered in my ear, "Wanna guess why Chase suddenly hates your guts?"

She then fished out a dark violet-colored glass vial from her coat, waving it in front of me.

As soon as she popped the vial open, a strange, sweet fragrance immediately wafted into my nostrils.

"This is a potion that I bought from a wandering witch. I paid an arm and a leg for it," she said smugly.

"Just one drop is enough to make a wolf infatuated with me. I apply it on my wrists every day, and as Chase gets used to smelling it on me, I'll be the only one left on his mind all the time.

"It doesn't matter whether you're his fated mate or not. This potion is strong enough to override all of his connections to you, making him loathe you and instead seeing me as his only true love."

I froze at once.

How could Bella even dare to use this forbidden potion on anyone?

She laughed hysterically at my shocked expression.

"Also, this stuff doesn't only work on Chase. Haven't you noticed it lately, Daisy? That in the past six months, it wasn't just Chase, but every Beta and Gamma in the tribe, including the usually most impartial Elders in the packs, have all changed their attitude toward me and looked at me quite differently?"

Everything suddenly dawned on me when she brought it up like that.

No wonder…

No wonder the wolves in the pack had all been speaking up for her for no reason lately; no wonder the Elders had been increasingly harsh toward me while turning a blind eye to Bella's mistakes lately…

"Every wolf who has ever smelled this scent will instinctively want to protect me, even if I was wrong. They'll still think that I was right," she said, fondly caressing the vial in her hands while looking at me smugly.

"Right now, I'm the apple of every wolf's eyes in the entire Redstone Pack. As for you, Daisy? Sure, you gave up everything for the pack, but you still lost to a few of my crocodile tears after all.

"You're such a pathetic creature. Your sacrifices don't mean a thing against my tears."

Rage surged in my chest. I wanted to tear her farce apart, but my body had reached its limit, and I didn't even have any strength left in me to lift a finger anymore.

"I bet you really want to kill me right now," Bella gloated in glee, looking at my powerless rage with an even wider smile on her face.

"Unfortunately for you, you're nothing but a piece of trash now.

"I'll be the Luna of Redstone Pack when Chase finally marks me. And when that time comes, I'm going to make you suffer so much you'll wish you were dead."

Then, she swung her hips as she sashayed off, smug and satisfied.

I was so overwhelmed with despair that I just let it consume and bury me just like the falling snowflakes on my body.

My wolf let out a deep howl before falling into a deep slumber. I could not feel her presence any longer.

Snow continued piling on me as a snowstorm built up, quickly burying me beneath a sheet of white. Yet, just before my consciousness completely faded into the darkness, I thought I saw two tall, dark figures approaching me through the snow.

"We've found her," a low, attractive voice said close to my ear.

Another voice said, "We've found our Luna."

A few months later, I heard about what happened to Chase and Bella. After Chase was stripped of his Alpha title, his wolf went into a deep slumber, and he turned into a useless werewolf who couldn't transform into his wolf form anymore.Instead, he wandered along the borders of Redstone Pack like a lost soul while constantly muttering my name. The pack treated him like he was insane, avoiding him like the plague.Meanwhile, Bella became a Rogue wolf after getting banished from the pack. Since she lacked combat skills but still had her looks with her, she quickly became a plaything for the other Rogue wolves in the wild.It was said that the last time anyone saw her was in a swamp, her body torn apart beyond recognition by hungry beasts. However, I felt no emotions for their fates. They were simply reaping what they'd sown, and I had plenty of better things to do than worry about them.As the Luna of Snowlight Pack, I was kept busy as I had my work cut out for me.I started a ne

The Redstone Pack elders looked travel-worn. They wore solemn expressions on their faces as they approached. The Head Elder, Dwayne Rockbite, immediately bowed respectfully as soon as he saw me."Daisy—Luna Daisy."The rest of the Elders behind him also bowed their heads in unison. Their display surprised me very much."What brings you all here?" I asked.Dwayne sighed, his face filled with shame as he said, "We've come to apologize to you. Chase… He's no longer fit to be the alpha of Redstone Pack."As it turned out, Chase had completely changed after returning. He'd fallen into complete despair, spending his days drinking heavily and neglecting all of the pack affairs. The pack Elders couldn't tolerate it anymore and convened a pack meeting, unanimously deciding to strip Chase of his pack Alpha position."It's all our fault. We failed to discipline Chase properly, causing you to suffer so much injustice," Dwayne said before trying to get down on his knees before me.I hurrie

Kyle and Ryan immediately stopped and retreated to my side like two loyal guardians.I then slowly walked up to Chase, looking down on him.He had returned to his human form and was now lying sprawled on the ground in a disheveled state. He looked up at me with the ecstatic joy of finally regaining something he'd lost."Daisy! I knew that you still cared about me—""I just didn't want your blood to stain their land."My icy words landed on Chase like a bucket of cold water right in his face, extinguishing whatever burning passion he had left. His face turned deathly pale."Daisy! I was wrong. I had been wrong the entire time! Won't you please forgive me? Come back with me, and I'll mark you immediately and make you my Luna!"He reached out to grab me. However, Ryan blocked him and grabbed him by the wrist instead."This is not the place where you can do as you wish."However, Ryan's words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Chase continued staring at me imploringly while repeating

[Daisy's POV]I spent half a month in Snowlight Pack.Things here were completely different from the rumors and legends that everyone else had heard about. There was no bloodshed or brutality anywhere. Rather, there was just strict discipline and perfect order.Kyle and Ryan were very strong and powerful, but they gave me ample space and respect. They never forced me to fulfill any of my obligations as their Luna. They simply cared for me silently and helped my wounds heal instead. My body recovered quickly with their help. However, my wolf still showed no signs of awakening.I know that it was because of a wound in my heart.Chase and Bella's betrayal had been like a poisonous thorn, embedding deeply into my soul. One day, I was reading in the Moon Goddess Temple gardens when Ryan came over to me."Have you been feeling any better lately?" he asked, handing me a warm mug of Soulmoon wine.I nodded. "Thank you."He suddenly looked at me seriously and said, "Daisy, I know that

"Let my order be known!"Chase's voice was hoarse yet resolute."Bella stole the rightful credit from other wolves' work and deceived the Alpha. From today onward, she will be expelled from Redstone Pack immediately, never to set foot within the pack ever again!"To be exiled meant being a Rogue, and to Bella, that meant certain death. She collapsed onto the ground, staring at him in disbelief."No, Chase! You can't do this to me! I love you!"However, he didn't even spare her a glance. Instead, he turned to Liam and gave out his next order."Summon all the pack warriors at once and find Daisy! I don't care if you have to turn the entire forest upside down, but you must find her!"Then, Chase rushed into the blizzard like a wolf gone berserk. He had to find Daisy. He had to find her and kneel before her and beg for her forgiveness. However, the pack searched almost every inch of the territory for Daisy for a full month, yet they couldn't find a single trace of her anywhere.

Chase staggered as he took a step back. Then, he turned on his heels and ran back frantically, shoving open Bella's bedroom door.Bella had been in the middle of trying on a magnificent jewel crown in front of the mirror, an accessory that could only be worn by the pack's Luna."Chase! Do you think I look good in this?" she asked, looking at him with a coquettish smile on her face.Yet, Chase grabbed her by the wrist, his eyes chillingly cold."What was the name of the antidote herb that you used to save me three years ago?"Bella's smile froze."Why are you suddenly asking me this, Chase? It… It's been such a long time. I… I don't remember the name anymore.""You don't remember?" Chase echoed with a cold laugh. "Then do you remember where the herb had been growing? Where does it usually grow? What are its features?"She immediately darted her eyes away as she stammered, "It was too dark, and the snow fell too heavily back then. I really don't remember—""That's enough!"Ch
