Chapter 1

Anna's POV 

“You worthless bitch! What have you done?! Tell me, which witch did you pay to have this done for you?!” Alpha Lucas barked, his eyes red with anger and veins almost popping out as he stared down at me. 

“I-I didn't meet anyone Alpha, I-I promise,” I uttered, my voice barely above a whisper as warm tears rolled down my face. 

“You liar! The moongoddess would never mate me with such a disgrace!” He spat, and then before I knew it, he had his big hand wrapped around my neck as he lifted me up from the floor, strangling me. “An Alpha and a mere wolfless fool?! Impossible! I would never be reduced to such nonsense!” His grip tightened, and all I could do was choke and cry. “Now, this is your fucking last chance! Tell me the witch who'd helped you do this.”

He loosened his grip, not too much, but enough to let me tell him that I had not met anyone. That angered him so much more and he flung me to the other side of the room and I crashed into the wall, falling down like a sack of potatoes. I didn't notice the crack on my head until cold liquid started to drip down my neck. Blood. “P-please, I promise I didn't do anything. Please.” I pleaded, clasping my hand over my head as I lay on the floor like a thief begging for mercy. 

Unfortunately, Alpha Lucas ignored my plea. He didn't only beat me up, trying to get me to confess to a crime I didn't commit, but he also did the worst by rejecting me. He rejected a bond from the moongoddess. Nobody ever rejected their mates. I was the first reject. That day, I became the rejected fool, as if being wolfless wasn't enough. 

Ever since I could remember, I had secretly loved Lucas, but he only had eyes for my sister Bella. He never saw me. He didn't even think I existed. I used to pray to the moon goddess to let him notice me, but I never asked her to do it like this. Finding my mate should have been the best day of my life, but that was ruined along with the stupid fantasy I had with Lucas in my head. 

That day, my sister took me along with her as her personal maid to visit her boyfriend, Lucas. She thought he was doing more of the visiting and wanted to surprise him. He wasn't home when we came and had to wait. Bored, I decided to look around and then encountered him in one of the hallways, he'd just returned and that was how he discovered I was his mate. 

“Now look, no one, not a soul must hear about this. No one must know I got mated to a worthless thing like you. Is that clear?” 

I didn't speak. I couldn't speak. I was in too much pain. It hurt everywhere and I simply wished that the ground could open up and swallow me. I was already having a bad life, why couldn't the moongoddess mate me to someone who actually liked me? 

“I said, did I make myself clear?!” He barked, after he'd slapped me again and I quickly nodded, shaking like a cold bunny. 

“Y-yes.” Without another word, he stomped off, leaving me there in the quiet hallway, crying my eyes out and wishing for the goddess to end my life. 

She never did. 

The next day, my sister and I returned to our packhouse, a place that felt like hell to me.

“Anna, my room feels dirty. Go clean it up, and be fast about it.” My stepmom, Cynthia, Bella's mom, commanded me the moment we stepped into the house. She was hugging Bella, asking her for gist while she commanded me to work…to them, I was an Omega. 

My father, Alpha Derek of StoneHalk Pack, was next to her, they'd both rushed down to welcome Bella, pampering her with sweet words and gifts as if she'd just returned from war or something. My eyes stung with tears, I wanted to be loved too. Why couldn't they notice me? I was still human despite being wolfless.

“I-i cleaned the room before we left. I don't think…

Before I could finish speaking, my father sent a hard slap across my face. “How dare you talk back to your mother?! Have you grown wings now?! How dare you?!”

The tears I had been trying so hard to hold rolled down from my face as I held my aching cheek. “I-im sorry, I'll do it now.” I bowed before them and without wasting another second, I ran inside to get the work done. 

Funny how I couldn't even heal from the hurt of being rejected, my family would never let me. That day, I did all sorts of house chores as if they were purposely trying to break me. After doing all the chores, I massaged my sister until she fell asleep, but that came with so much beating and verbal insults as she couldn't stop complaining about how I wasn't doing it well. Out of everyone in the house, Bella hated me most. She had everything one could only dream of yet she despised me. 

Finally, I went to my room, a very small space that used to be an attic. I jumped into bed and after crying about how useless my life was, I fell asleep. However, not long after, I felt something. Or someone. 

Strong arms were rubbing my thighs. At first, I thought it was my imagination and tried to shake it off but I still felt it, it was rolling up to my panty area. It felt very real now. I yelped, my eyes widening in shock when the hand pinched my private area. “Alpha… I couldn't scream because Alpha Lucas suddenly wrapped his hand around my mouth. 

“Hush. Make a sound and I'll have you killed.” He said in a low tone, his eyes filled with both malice and lust as he slowly let go of my mouth. 

Scared that he might truly kill me, I didn't shout, but moved back. “W-what are you doing here?”

“You see, ever since I rejected you, my wolf has been restless so I came to see you. Perhaps if we have sex, he might stay calm. I paid your sister a late surprise visit just to see you. She's asleep now, so let's get this over with.”

I was dumbfounded. My mate rejected me but wanted to have sex with me? Was this a cruel joke from the goddess? “I-i am sorry, but I'm not interested. Please leave.”

His eyes darkened as I said this. I yelped when he wrapped his hand around my neck. “You think you have a fucking choice?!” He whisper-yelled and then, before I could say a word, he tore off my shirt and tried forcing himself on me. 

“Stop!” I yelled, kicking and screaming but he was stronger, saying things about how he was going to have me killed if I didn't behave. 

Then, as if he knew something was going to happen, he wrapped his hand around my waist and made me sit on top of him, and he let go of me, so I was the one holding his hands. I didn't understand at first why he did it. And before I could, it was too late. Just as I was about to climb down, my sister stepped inside and screamed in horror. “What is this?!”

“Oh my goodness, Bella thank goodness you're here?!Your sister just tried to take advantage of me!”
