Chapter 4 Into the Jacobs Group

Laura had heard of Muesli in the past. It was something made from the best nuts, and oats crumbs mixed with honey. It was very healthy.

Laura's lips curved into a smile. "Well, he's the CEO of a listed company."

She felt that they couldn't be compared to someone like the CEO of a listed company.

Shannon looked longingly out the door. "Miss Walker, you've been here quite a long time, haven't you? Have you seen what Mr. Jacobs looks like? I've heard that he doesn't like to be interviewed. There aren't any pictures of him online either. I don't know what he looks like. If he's handsome then... maybe.... well, I can use this job to my advantage. If I'm able to bump into him here and he falls in love with me at first sight, it'll be a laugh!"

Laura shook her head.

The convenience store had been open for almost six months, but she had never seen the CEO of the Jacobs Group.

Of course, Laura wasn't curious what the CEO of the Jacobs Group looked like either.

She quickly finished her bread and milk and was about to do the cleaning. That was when Shannon began screaming. "Oh my god! Miss Walker, look! Look over there!"

Shannon looked outside with a face full of shock.

Laura followed her gaze and saw a black Maybach parked not too far away from the Jacobs Group. The luxury cars behind it stopped as well.

"It's Mr. Jacobs! It's Mr. Jacobs!" Shannon rushed out of the store and looked at the black Maybach. All she was able to see before her view was blocked was a pair of black shoes.

Looking at the people who were surrounding the CEO of the Jacobs Group, an aggrieved look appeared on Shannon's face. "Sobs. I wasn't able to see his face."

Laura didn't really care. She just glanced in that direction and began doing her daily work.

Shannon was upset for a while before going to give Laura a hand.

After the cleaning was done, Laura stretched herself out a little.

The phone began to ring, so Laura walked over to answer it.

"Okay, the delivery will be made very soon."

"What is it, Miss Walker?" Shannon looked at Laura.

"The Jacobs Group wants us to deliver a box of bottled water," replied Laura.

"Then go." Shannon's eyes lit up. "I'll guard the shop. Miss Walker, you should go and see if you're able to meet Mr. Jacobs."

Laura shook her head with a smile. "That's not going to happen. The CEO's office is on the top floor. I'm only going to drop off the water at reception."

Laura felt a little strange. For a company like the Jacobs Group, there were a lot of water dispensers all over the company. In the past, the most they had ordered were soft drinks, why did they order bottled water all of a sudden?

She then brought a box of bottled water to reception.

The receptionist let out a smile at Laura and said, "Miss Walker, please can you take the water to the top floor? It's required by Assistant Jacobs. We're a little busy here and can't leave our posts."

"Okay." Laura didn't have any problems with that. She picked the box back up and walked towards the elevator.

Only after Laura had walked into the elevator did the two receptionists look at each other with puzzled looks on their faces.

"Why did Assistant Jacobs want the store manager to deliver the water to the top floor? The CEO's office is on the top floor as well. Not just anyone could set foot there."

"Could it be that Assistant Jacobs has feelings for her?"

"Shush, be quiet. Don't let others hear you. Company regulations say that we should talk about others behind their backs."

Laura looked at the elevator display as the elevator went up the building. When the elevator reached the top floor, Laura got off.

There was only one office on the top floor. Laura stood in front of the elevator and looked around, but couldn't see anyone else.

After hesitating for a short while, she walked towards the door of the office and knocked lightly.

"Come in." A familiar voice sounded from inside the office.

At first, Laura didn't feel that there was anything wrong. That was until when she pushed open the door and saw the familiar face. After that, Laura was taken aback.

"Chris, what are you doing here?"

The man standing in the middle of the room with a file in his hand locked gazes with Laura. Chris was taken aback as well.

'What's she doing here?'

The first thought that came into Chris's mind was that Laura had found out about his identity. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but Laura had beaten him to it.

"Chris, you're working at the Jacobs Group? You're Assistant Jacobs?" Laura's eyes widened in shock.

'No wonder the Jacobs Group suddenly ordered a box of bottled water. He's doing this for me!' thought Laura.

What Laura didn't expect was that on Chris's profile, he said that he worked for a small company. How could the Jacobs Group be seen as a small company?

Forcing herself to calm down, Laura looked around and walked up to Chris. She then lowered her voice and said, "Chris, did you make this order using the company's money or your money? If you've used the company's money, then don't do it again in the future. I've heard that people who work in the Jacobs Group are all elites. Don't leave a bad impression just because you were trying to help my business."
