Chapter 3

Autor: Cocojam
The HR email dropped first thing the next morning.

My COO access was dead. All my duties were transferred to the new "Operations Manager"—Lily Hale.

An exceptional promotion. Stepping right over my dead body. But Lily thought it was worth it.

When I got to the office, Lily was already in my chair. She wore a tailored Chanel suit, her hair in a tight updo. She really looked the part.

"Aurora," she cooed. Her voice dripped with fake concern. "Jasper asked me to handle the handover. Especially the file on Mr. Marcus Sterling. He’s coming Monday, and I need to prep."

Marcus Sterling. The Alpha of the Silver Moon Group.

A true, ancient, blue-blooded werewolf aristocrat.

Two years ago, I pulled heavy strings with the Arkin family just to get Jasper a meeting with him. Marcus respected true power and ancient bloodlines. Without the Arkin name backing him, a nobody like Jasper wasn't even fit to shine Marcus’s shoes.

And now, Lily wanted to take the credit.

"Everything is in the system. Read it yourself," I said coldly.

Lily leaned in. Her perfume was choking. "Some details aren't on paper. What does Mr. Sterling like? His favorite vintage? His hobbies?"

I looked at her desperate, greedy face.

“Mr. Sterling loves the most expensive Moonlight vintage,” I said calmly. “He refuses red meat, only eats deep-sea fish. And he plays polo.”

I wasn’t lying.

But which vintage? What kind of fish? Where did he play polo?

She never asked.

"Got it." Lily scribbled furiously in her notebook. "Thanks, Aurora. By the way, you don't need to come back. Jasper says your presence hurts pack morale."

"Perfect." I nodded.

That afternoon, I sat in a quiet coffee shop downtown. My family’s wealth manager was already waiting.

"Miss Aurora," he stood up respectfully.

"Let's get to work." I slid a file across the table. "Trigger the Sunset Clause. I want all liquid funds from the Arkin Trust pulled out of Thorne Industries at exactly 9:30 AM this coming Monday."

"Miss, that will bankrupt the company instantly."

"I know," I stared out the window. "I just want it done."

"Understood."

Instead of heading straight home, I took a walk through the downtown luxury shopping district.

I stepped into a high-end jewelry boutique I frequented.

I was admiring a new, limited-edition sapphire necklace when a sickeningly pretentious voice chirped from behind me.

"Well, well, if it isn't Aurora. What's the matter? After getting kicked out, is window shopping all you can afford?"

I turned.

Of course, it was Lily and Jasper.

Lily clung to Jasper’s arm like a proud peacock, and casually playing with her fingers was the very black-gold card I had surrendered that morning.

The sales associate, who had been politely distant with me moments before, recognized the card—a symbol of top-tier VIP status.

Her face instantly broke into a fawning smile for Lily.

Lily basked in the attention, then shot me a contemptuous glance, flicking the card in her hand. "Oh, that's right. I forgot your annual spending probably doesn't even meet the minimum requirement to apply for this card. Move aside, pauper, you're blocking the way for actual valued customers."

With that, she pointed to the very necklace I had been looking at and commanded the associate, "That one. I'll take it. Charge it to this card."

Jasper didn't look at me once.

He just stood there, his expression cold and detached, as if he was silently endorsing, even enjoying, this humiliation.

That card was not only backed by my family trust but was also the highest-level VIP pass for this boutique.

And now, they were using my status and my money to buy something I wanted, just to flaunt the power they had stolen.

What a perfect pair of parasites.

I took a deep breath and dialed my private banker.

"Hi. Freeze the secondary card under my name assigned to Thorne Industries. Cancel all their business credit lines."

"Yes, immediately. Mark it as a fraud risk."

I hung up. I thought about the $100,000 charge and hesitated for a second. Pulling the plug right now would be letting them off too easy.

If I was going to ruin them, I wanted to do it when they felt invincible.

I flagged down a cab. "Take me to the top commercial real estate agency in the city."

"You got it."

If we were settling accounts, we were settling all of them. The Thorne Industries office building? It was owned by the Arkin Trust. I had been leasing it to the company for practically pennies.

The lease expired on Monday.

Lily wanted to save the pack money and boost efficiency? Let's start with the rent.

But I didn't expect one last epilogue. That night, I was heading home from a charity gala. The car drove past a run-down neighborhood.I was about to close my eyes to rest when I spotted a figure under a highway overpass.A homeless man in rags squatted by a trash can, his shaking hands digging for something. His hair was a mess, his beard overgrown. His clothes were torn, reeking of garbage. But that back... that once proud and broad silhouette..."Pull over," I said suddenly."Miss?" James was a bit confused."Stop the car. Right here."The luxury sedan slowly rolled to a stop.I rolled down my window, and the freezing night wind rushed in.The homeless man seemed to feel something. He snapped his head back.It was Jasper. After six months, he was completely emaciated. Hollow cheeks, dark eyes. His once handsome face was weathered and broken, making him look a decade older. But the most shocking part was his aura. That dominant Alpha energy was entirely gone. When Jasper saw me, shoc

Six months later.I sat in my chair as Silver Moon's Northern President, reviewing the quarterly financial reports. The numbers looked beautiful. Twenty percent higher than projected."Miss Aurora," my assistant Amy knocked and walked in. "You have an inspection at the newly acquired mall this afternoon. The car is ready.""Alright." I closed the file and grabbed my purse. "Let's go."This luxury mall, sitting dead center in downtown, was an asset the Arkin family bought last month. Total value: eight hundred million dollars.I needed to see how it was running myself. At 3 PM, the black town car pulled up to the main entrance. The mall manager was already waiting, bowing respectfully to lead the way."Miss Aurora, welcome." He reported carefully. "Sales for all major luxury brands are climbing steadily. A few top-tier boutiques are doing exceptionally well."I nodded, walking slowly down the marble corridors. The mall was lavish. Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead. Every detail was

A few days later, Thorne Industries declared bankruptcy. They didn't have to, really. But he crossed Marcus and me. His name was toxic in the werewolf world; no one dared to work with him.Add in my massive lawsuit, and he was completely finished.Lily was banished.I heard she looked pathetic when she left, pelted with garbage by furious pack members. She tried to find Jasper, but he beat her mercilessly."It's all because of you, you bitch! I lost everything because of you!"That beating shattered her dreams of ever becoming a Luna.A month later, I saw Jasper downstairs at the Silver Moon building. He was skin and bones, unshaven, wearing a cheap jacket. He came to beg."Aurora, for the sake of the love we used to have, please drop the lawsuit." He kept his head down, his voice raspy. "I have nothing now. I'm drowning in debt. If you keep suing me, my life is over."I sat in the backseat of my custom bulletproof car, twirling the Arkin family signet ring on my finger."Jasper, did y

I didn't rush to reply.I let the storm brew all night. The next morning, Jasper and Lily were hosting a "tell-all" livestream for the entire werewolf nation, broadcasting from their trashed former office. They wanted to play the victim card, win sympathy, and force me to drop the lawsuit.Lily went makeup-free. Her eyes were red and swollen, looking absolutely pitiful.Jasper stood beside her, looking haggard. He seemed to have aged ten years overnight."Fellow wolves," Lily choked out. "I only did what was loyal to the pack. I didn't know the price of upholding the rules would be this high...""Aurora... she didn't just embezzle our funds. She partnered with outsiders to destroy the Red Peak pack, to destroy our future!"Cameras flashed. The livestream chat was flooded with sympathy.[Support Red Peak Pack!][Down with capital bullies!]I sat in my bright, spacious corner office, sipping premium roast coffee while watching the circus. The timing was perfect.I texted my PR Director:

My new life began at Silver Moon.Marcus made me President of the Northern Region and gave me a top-tier legal team.My first move? Suing Thorne Industries and Lily personally.By afternoon, every wolf on Wall Street knew my name. Thorne Industries' cash flow was dead. They lost the Silver Moon deal. They were on the verge of bankruptcy.Jasper called.I stared at the familiar name on the screen. I let it ring for a long time before slowly picking up."Hello?""Aurora! What do you want from me?!" Jasper's voice was hoarse and desperate. "Are you trying to kill me? We're mates!""Jasper, you forgot we were mates when you humiliated me in public.""It was a misunderstanding! Come back, and I'll give everything back to you!""The building's new owner terminated the lease. The reason cited? A tenant of questionable moral character.""Jasper, you ruined everything. You did this to yourself.""Aurora, we were in love once..." He switched tactics, his voice softening as he played the guilt ca

All the air left the room.Marcus Sterling’s silver-grey eyes flicked slowly between Jasper and me.Sweat beaded on Jasper’s forehead. He opened his mouth to explain, but Marcus raised a hand, cutting him off."Alpha Jasper." Marcus’s voice was low and commanding, dripping with the power of an ancient bloodline. "I agreed to this meeting two years ago purely out of respect for the Arkin family heir."Marcus paused. His gaze landed on the panicking Jasper."A parasite," Marcus continued, his eyes fixed on Jasper. "A leech who uses his mate to climb, only to turn on her, has no right to work with Silver Moon."The words were a hammer blow to his fragile Alpha ego.His face flushed red, then drained bone-white."Mr. Sterling, please let me explain—" Jasper’s voice trembled. "There’s a misunderstanding—""A misunderstanding?" Marcus sneered. "I just heard you accuse the Arkin heir of embezzling company funds with my own ears."Lily finally snapped out of it. She stepped forward to defend h
