The rest of the room was in cheers, her stepmother showing her joy the most as Freya walked up to join a sullen looking Elias.

“No,” Ella found herself accidentally shouting out loud in heartbreak as Freya pulled Elias and kissed him right in front of everyone.

The platter in her hand cluttered to the floor too causing everyone`s eyes to move to her.

Elias also froze upon finally noticing her in the crowd.

“What do you even mean by no,” her stepmother commented while giving her a piercing stare, one promising pain tonight.

“He is my mate,” Ella whispered, feeling the tears well up.

“As if I would let my son mate with some wolf less omega, you are a disgrace.” The Alpha`s voice immediately boomed.

“She is a murderer too; I saw her with my own eyes, kill our own father and push his body into a river.” Freya also shouted, pretending to look emotional while lying through her teeth. Saying the same story she had told and made everyone believe. Because of this, no one in the room felt sorry for Ella.

“Once I become Luna after tonight, I plan on finally making her pay for her crime and have her spent the rest of her miserable life in a dungeon.” Freya continued, having already decided Ella`s fate.

“Elias, I never killed my own father, please believe me. And please tell them that I am your mate and not her.” Ella stared at Elias, pleading with him to defend her, to believe her and stand with her as her mate.

“You are not my mate, and even if you were well…I reject you.” he instead replied, looking away and avoiding her eyes which were currently filled with pain.

Ella wanted to kneel and drown in heartbreak as she realized that even her own mate did not want her and was rejecting her just like that.

“I accept your rejection,” Ella whispered, her voice cracking in emotional pain. She preferred death to this.

“Look at you, how did you even think that you could stand a chance with the son of an Alpha. You are ugly and fat while my daughter Freya is beautiful. ” her stepmother smugly spoke while enjoying having to watch Ella break down in pain.

Only Gina was throwing her a sympathetic look. No werewolf had ever rejected their own mate before. And she could not imagine the kind of pain that Ella was in right now.

“Leave, I will see you back home.” Her stepmother added with a scorching look, one Ella knew meant lots and lots of pain tonight for her.

She turned around and ran, releasing the floodgate of tears which she had been holding back.

Ella then helplessly kneeled down to the ground once she was faraway, continuing to let the tears fall.

“I reject you,” the cruel words that her mate had spoken continued rushing through her head, breaking her heart piece by piece. As she broke down there, with despair almost overtaking her, she felt someone kneel hugging her.

“He rejected me,” Ella whispered brokenly.

“My own mate, he turned his back on me,”

“I know, I know,” Gina replied while continuing to hug Ella, trying to comfort her and wiping away her tears with the sleeve of her dress.

“Now come on I have to get you out of here. Once my sister becomes Luna, she really is going to have you thrown in the dungeons,” Gina continued, helping Ella to get up,

“I never killed our dad, you know,” Ella continued, sniffing as she wiped the left over tears.

“I know Ella, you are a kind hearted person who could never even hurt a fly. My sister is just an evil bitch and a liar.” Gina responded, clenching her own empty fists in anger and wondering how she was even related to those two cruel women. No wonder people always said that she was more like her father Neo, a good kind hearted man.

“I have a contact, a human acquaintance. I will have him set up a ride for you to escape tonight,” Gina continued, busy dialing her phone as they continued walking. She also regularly looking behind; to make sure no one was following them.

She was getting Ella out before it was too late. Gina was tired of always watching from the side lines, enough was enough.

After she made her quick calls, they first arrived home. There she dressed Ella up in some of her clothes, warm and comfortable plus a dark warm coat, so that Ella could blend with the darkness of the night.

Gina also surprised Ella as she brought out a forbidden spray, one that could mask the scent of anyone from other werewolves. Since werewolves had strong senses of smell and used that to locate others.

“I got it from a …friend and we need it to evade border patrol wolves.” Gina spoke seeing the curious look on Ella`s face as she sprayed both of them. That same friend was also the one she was depending on to find a way to bring Ella out safely.

Her mother would be home once the activities finished, eager to come punish Ella, so they had to be fast.

After making more calls on her phone, Ella looked up at Gina as she signaled that it was time.

It was time to go.

They sneaked out of the house and Gina shifted into her brown colored wolf after telling Ella to get on. Once she got on, Gina`s wolf started running deeper into the forest with Ella hanging on tight.

All Ella felt was numbing pain in her heart, as she heard Fern`s loud and last howl as Alpha, invading the night. She knew that Elias had now just been made the new Alpha. That he would soon leave to go mate with her stepsister Freya, making her Luna too.

The last drop of tear she had for Elias fell. Then strongly Ella looked ahead, praying for a successful escape.

As they neared the border patrol of the pack, Gina started slowing down. The pack wolves that guarded the border from intruders or wrong people leaving the pack were there. They were the biggest obstacle that had always stopped Ella from running away. She knew she could not outrun Wolves. If not for them, she would have run and escaped a long time ago.

But this time Ella hoped she would succeed since she had Gina on her side.

Gina quickly hid them behind a big tree branch as one of the wolf border patrols passed by.

Pack members usually took turns on who had the duty. But luckily because of the Alpha`s party there seemed to be less patrolling around. They must have not wanted to miss the party.

Ella continued being silent and not making a move as they waited. Gina while still in her Wolf form, looked as if she was waiting for someone or some signal.

That signal finally came as the two border patrol wolves nearby, started shifting back to human form.

“And are they blind? Continuing to drive and pass all those danger warning signs until they reach our territory.” One commented as they changed into normal clothes.

“Damn humans, I hate dealing with them.” The other spoke with an annoyed scowl.

“Let’s go just tell them that it’s a protected area and we will have them arrested them for trespassing. That always works.” After nodding they both left to go deal with the humans.

Once they were gone, Gina quickly moved and ran with great werewolf speed. Ella could feel the wind blowing like crazy through her hair but she continued holding on tightly to Gina`s wolf. She was not letting go of her only chance of escape.

Ella could feel her heart race rapidly as she felt both shock and joy once Gina had made it past the border line.
