THIRD PERSON'S POV

Lucy's eyes clung to the doors for hours, but no one came out. Her tears had dried up, leaving behind a trail on her face. Eventually the tiredness of the day caught up to her, and she dozed off.

“Ma'am! "Ma’am" came an urgent voice.

Her eyes immediately flung open to meet the driver nodding towards the door. Her feature tensed; a part of her dreaded to know who she was, but another part really wanted to know. She took a deep breath and turned. A gasp left her slightly opened lips as she saw who the woman was. “Caramel?” She muttered, her heart sinking into her stomach.

Logan kissed Caramel. A slow, passionate kiss as though what they had inside wasn't enough for him. She pouted as his lips left hers. “Baby, how long is this going to go on for? I can't keep sneaking around like this.”

“Just for a little while longer, okay?” Logan replied, giving her a small smile.

Caramel frowned. “But that's what you have been saying for so long now?” She stepped away from his embrace and folded her arms. “Are you lying to me? Are you just biding your time until you find another plaything and dump me?

“Of course not!” Logan defended himself. “You are the love of my life. You know I do not love your boss. She just pays the bills and does everything I want. She will be the perfect submissive wife, but I am not interested in that. I have been done with it for a while now. All we just need to do is stick to the plan and get our hands on all her money and company. We are married now, so it won't take long. Once that is done, I will divorce her, and we will elope and go live a good life. I deserve that much after being with her for so long.”

Lucy covered her mouth as she choked on her own tears. “Why Logan? Why? I did everything for you. I love you so much I chased away everyone in my life that said you weren't good for me. How could you do this to me? How could you want to pay me back with such evil?” She thought to herself.

It was all starting to make sense. The random questions about her accounts, company, credit cards and documents. She always thought it was because he cared about her job, life and finances, but she finally understood. This was all a plan to take everything away from her.

“Well, I will do everything I need to do on my own end. So you make sure that you find out everything you need to find out from her. Lucy may be madly in love with you and blinded to everything you do because of that love. But she is definitely not stupid. We have to hit once and make away with everything without leaving a clue, or she will hunt us down. I have seen her tough side, and she is brutal.” Caramel said to him.

Logan scoffed. “She isn't tough. She could walk in on us fucking hard on the bed and still say nothing. She is just fucking stupid. So stupid I don't even know how she managed to become a lawyer. But I will be careful because you asked me to.” He smiled and kissed her cheeks. “When will I see you again?” He smirked.

“Your lovely wife is due to be back by tomorrow, so it's going to be harder to see you.” She pouted. “I don't like meeting up in the hotel anymore. It makes me feel like I am a bad secret to be hidden. But you can always come over to my place. I have a nice place with very suitable corners that we can go at it." She winked suggestively.

Lucy chuckled dryly. "Yeah, the place I rented for you when you started working for me. I paid for it with my hard-earned money and still pay for it till today. I removed you from the rundown apartment you were living in and rented you a good place. But you pay me back by screwing my husband in my home, on my bed.” Lucy scoffed. “It's not a surprise why people do not help nor trust others.” She said to herself.

“I will definitely come over. We need to christen all those corners you just mentioned.” He smiled.

“Well, I have to go now. We wouldn't want anyone to see us and tell your lovely wife. I will see you soon, baby.” She kissed his cheeks and hailed a cab. She got in, and Logan stood there like a lost puppy, making puppy eyes at her.

“I will miss you. Text me when you get home.” He gestured to her before the cab took off. He turned around and went inside.

Lucy pressed her head on the backrest, her eyes glued to her ring. Her heart was filled with all kinds of emotions. But one question was more dominant, “What do I do?” She questioned herself over and over again.

“Ma’am, pardon my intrusion, but I know and understand what you are going through right now.” The cabman sighed. “There is only one thing I would like to tell you, even though it's not my place to speak. Don't let the love you have for him blind you to his true intentions. "Save yourself from that beast's hand," he hissed angrily as though he knew Lucy from somewhere. “It's his loss, not yours. So would you like me to take you to a hotel to spend the night? I think it's the best option right now.” He asked.

Lucy sighed shakily. She removed her ring and tucked it into her bag. “No. But thank you, sir. You have been a huge help today.” She sent him a small smile. She opened her bag and brought out some cash without counting it and dropped it on the centre console.

“Ma’am, you already paid me before.” The man started to say, but Lucy cut him off.

“It's for the wonderful advice and comfort you gave me.” She replied and walked away. As she got to the front door, she hesitated, her shaky hands barely able to hold the door handle. But eventually she put in the code and opened the door.

The once familiar, comforting house no longer felt warm and comforting. With each step she wondered what she should say and what she shouldn't say. She thought of so many scenarios, of the possible ways the night could go. And suddenly the panic and anxiety set in. Her breathing quickened, coming out in short, rapid gasps. Her shoulders rose and fell with each frantic breath. As her lungs burnt, she staggered and grabbed the door handle, quickly opening the door and ran outside.

As the fresh air hit her nostrils, she took a deep breath and puffed out the air. Tears rolled down her eyes. She had heard people talk about hyperventilating, but she had never experienced it.

Her legs moved before her, and without thinking. She staggered down the street. Tears rolling down her cheeks, hair dishevelled, she breathed in rapid gasps. Suddenly a force hit her from behind, throwing her up into the air. She landed with great force and pain smeared all over her body. She turned her head slowly, and she watched as the vehicle quickly reversed and drove away. As her body spasmed, she wondered. “Is this how I die? It's all your fault, Logan.” She muttered as her eyes slowly fluttered closed, losing consciousness.

Her eyes fluttered open, and she groaned in pain. Every inch of her body ached. “I survived.” She muttered as the bright hospital light shone in her eyes.

“You are awake.” A nurse smiled at her. “I will call the doctor.” She said and left.

The doctor entered the room. “You were in a hit-and-run accident, but luckily you didn't sustain any serious injuries. It's a miracle. You will be cleared once you are done receiving this drip, and you can go home. “Get some rest,” he said and left.

Lucy groaned and shifted around. Just then something caught her eye on the little hospital cabinet. It was a note. She picked it up and opened it.

“Do not kill yourself for the mistakes of others. Rather get your revenge. I can help you with that. I will reach out to you again. Soon.” The note read.

Lucy's eyes creased. “Who could this be?” she asked herself, intrigued. Just then the nurse that came earlier passed, and Lucy called her.

“Please, who brought me here?” Lucy asked.

“It was a young man. He said he saw you on the road after the accident and brought you in. He paid your bills before leaving.” The nurse replied.

“Thank you.” Lucy replied, and the nurse left. She looked at the note again and again, intrigued by the content.

“Who is it?” She asked herself over and over again.

Am I supposed to be scared of you?” He asked harshly, glaring at her with hostility…“You should be. After the rubbish you did today, you really shouldn't have come here, and you should be scared!” Lucy yelled.Logan chuckled dryly. “You should be begging me. You should be on your knees begging me not to destroy you or finish your career. You don't seem to know the level of influence I have in your life.” He smirked.Lucy scoffed. “Logan, none of this will change anything. Do whatever you want to do, but I am divorcing you. Sign the papers and bring them to me soon before I decide to drag your broke ass to court.” She whirled around and tried to op

Why would your husband do that to you?” Adina asked, her voice low.“Because I served him divorce papers, and he doesn't want to divorce me.” Lucy replied. She took another mouthful of water and closed her eyes.“But…” Adina hesitated. “I am sorry to be asking all these questions. I just can't wrap my head around it.” She said after a second. “Even if he doesn't want to divorce you, that isn't a good reason for what happened today. Are you sure it's him?” She asked.“Wh

Just hang in there, okay?” Amelia said in a soothing voice. “Has Logan signed the divorce papers yet?” “I haven't heard from him since that night. If he had signed them, he would have brought them to me.” Lucy sighed.“It’s been four days already. Hope he isn't planning anything crazy? Logan is not to be trusted.” She said, her voice laced with worry.“Whatever he is planning, it won't spoil my day today.” Lucy breathed out.“Is something good happening today?” Amelia asked.“There is this case that has been in the public limelight that I have been working on. Judgement will be given today, and I have a good feeling about it. I really hope that my client gets justice.” Lucy replied. “That's really great.” Amelia said sincerely. “I wish y
